    ^ I dare to say that the '95 Major would make a pretty bad live action experience. When watching animation or reading comics, we accept a high level of abstraction and stylized characters. I love the Jin-Ro anime movie even more that the GitS movie, but having the same plot & dialogue acted out by human actors would have me cringing all the time. '95 Major would be a hard-ass soldier and executioner who, by her own choice, gave up her human body until only her brain was left. Detached from society, she cuts her faint ties to humanity and merges into the digital realm. Outside of the SF nerd circles, people would have a hard time sympathizing with this character. I fully agree with you that the evil company part and especially the Cutter character is extremely dumb, but the spin of making the Major a victim, struggling to find her place (like Logan in the X-Men movies), is something the movie does right IMO.

    It's the '92 Volks kit from their Super Spirit Series. It's an original cast, but full of nice surprises. - Hervé, your Ju-88 looks great. Good luck with the Messerschmidt.

    Just watched it, it's the Cyberpunk movie I've been waiting for for 30 years. Great visuals, design concepts, cinematography & 80s electronics music. People who complain about the slow pacing probably wouldn't survive Oshii's movie. I would have preferred less explanatory scenes, but those were to be expected. Loved the actors for Section 9, and ScarJ did a great job on the Major.

    Still a pretty nonsensical trailer, but the visuals are great, even more so if you read a lot of french SF comics in the 80s.

    A true work of art! Can you take a shot with a Tamiya paint jar or another universal dimension unit next to the model? Most people would not know how small the kit is.

    Somebody should have noted that the Major has bright blue eyes, too. The are featured quite prominently in Oshii's movie. She has no hood when she disappears in her jump from the building after the assassination in the anime. Artistic license at work here.

    I still have that nagging feeling that the movie might actually go the other way round with the Major finding out about her "true" past identity, to make her character more relatable. Or she is completely artificial and her past is a lie... does she dream of electric sheep?

    The great thing about those little Bandai kits is that you could easily pass them as studio scale models - after going through the hands of a competent modeler, of course.

    I thought pop-culture was as inclusive as you can get, so I'm puzzled to see the fight over authorship, roots and other exclusive issues, or "control", if you will, on a race/nation base. I'm not denying that there are racial or cultural issues worthy of discussion, but IMO this movie is the wrong vehicle. More like people waiting for someone who pushes their button.

    Apparently, they can make all the boring stuff that has already been done by Fine Molds: Slave 1 in Jango Fett colors (next 1/144 kit) and the Jedi Starfighter (next Vehilcle Model).

    Great eye candy in that clip! The cityscape looks like right from the animation, love the score, everything brings back some 80's style right into the future. Even if the movie turns out to be some kind of "best of GITS scenes cobbled together with some kind of plot", it will be fun to watch.

    We still end up with a lot of things so sort out in the last (?) two episodes. Will McG just go into orbit and kill Rustal with a Bazooka shot to the Bridge Char Aznable style? Will Iok go full circle and kill Mikazuki somehow? Will Gaelio kill Julia to spare her becoming the next Frankengraze? Who will survive, and what will be left of them... Oh and nice to see Azee has moved up within Teiwaz.
