  1. From today's photo session
  2. ^ MechTechMadness! _ After a few setbacks, I got this beast done. Better pics when the sun comes back.
  3. It's been a long time since I read it, but didn't the second book just end with
  4. Nice Trek stuff going on here. @peter You should treat yourself with the 1/350 BoP, it's one of the best Trek kits around.
  5. There seems to be a bit of review bombing going on at IMDB with this movie. It looses steam in the second half, but Pike & Tyrion are great – though my favorite scene ist between Pike and Chris Messina as the oily mob lawyer.
  6. Very elegant design on the kit, it doesn't need to hide behind it's RD brother. What's announced in the "now planning" spots?
  7. This guy is going all out on the Mave with his Blender model. Some nice aviation art in his feed.
  8. Looks cool, but like in their Gundam line, the RD team seems to translate the organic designs better.
  9. Ouch - I feel your pain. I once had the experience that the plasticine I chose for a two-part molding process reacted with the silicone, resulting in a gooey mess, and that was shortly before my diploma deadline... Good luck with the final steps!
  10. There's a new VFG coming
  11. That's the problem with gravity feed double-action airbrushes, when the needle is pulled back without airflow, paint collects at the tip. Unless I'm spraying very delicate gradients, I always use my unbreakable single-action Badger. You need to twist the tip to adjust the amount of paint, but once you have the right setting, you can just use it like a little spray can. You can get very close to the surface if you reduce the amount of paint accordingly.
  12. @derex3592 Thanks for posting the video, I'm taking the same steps in airbrushing that the modeler does, only I'm usually try to limit the surface colors to two passes (flat dark base & semi-gloss light panel shade). For the heck of it, I tried to document this with my camera, but it's pretty tedious to watch without the FFWD effect: Hop to Flickr to see the action (2 min). The greatest weakness of the MiG 1.44 was apparently it's boring late cold war paint scheme that must have killed the project once the officials laid their eyes on the proposal. I set out to rectify that by applying Sukhoj's ghost pixel scheme... Got the great Su-57 masks from Arma Hobby, cut them apart and fitted them on the MFI: The masked area got a base layer of Dark Sea Grey: Then came the actual color pass. As you can see in the video, it is applied panel by panel and took about 45 minutes. I also try to give some structure to uniform surfaces like the huge wings by wiggling the airbrush while I paint streaks lengthwise. Et voilá: Instant air superiority:
  13. @Thom That's the MiG 1.44, the kit is from Zvezda, but also saw a wide release by Revell. You should be able to find it in online stores or on The Bay. The 1.44 or MFI was MiG's venture into 4.5 generation fighter design, before the Su-47 somewhat stole the show. Not so sure about the YouTube thing (as I'm lacking a third arm), but I'll do my best to document the proceedings for the next color. Is there already an All Things Airbrush thread?
  14. If we assume the reflection in the "eyes" is meant to be pure white, we can identify the tint. That would make the DVD version closest to the original color.
  15. 1983's Future Fighter
  16. I can't believe that you prefer a live action version of another goody-two-shoes princess above Emma f*n Stone playing an avant-le-lettre riot grrrl in 70's London. They should've given this to Guy Ritchie instead of that darn Aladdin.
  17. Got some kitchen table studio shots done today: More in my Flickr album
  18. Some shots of my old HG Astraea. It's tough to get a semi-decent pose from it, but the detail level and fit of those old 00 HGs was excellent. I pimped it with decals & feet from the MG Exia.
  19. I'd do that if it wasn't so freezing cold outside It's true that direct sunlight can be problematic, on the other side you need a lot of light to get a good depth of field, and this afternoon it was just too cloudy. However, I got a few good shots in the morning of the other kit I finished recently (resin semi-nudity warning):
  20. Took my repaint of the FLARE Rei to a nice whiteout shooting today. Flickr album
  21. Your shots of the Refit still tempt me to grab one myself. Fortunately, I know better from my days of youth... _ First kit of 2021 completed. I hope to take some better shots when the light comes back in the next days.
  22. Another creative take on the power suits
  23. Almost there... @peterThat's some archeological restoration skill on display.
  24. Can't you use the film as a paint mask for the stripes?
