  1. Btw does anybody know what the dark areas near the end of the engines are supposed to be?
  2. I ran into the same problem when I built my Idolo. After trying transparent ink over a silver base and fluorescent blue over white (both looked really tacky IMO), I settled for a simple mix of Tamiya sky blue, a drop of yellow, and white. I had to thin it so that it would just flow into the narrower lines, and so I had to apply two coats. If I ran over a border, I could just wipe away the paint with my fingertip. Masking these lines is just asking for insanity. My Idolo album
  3. I like the toned-down colors. IMO the full paint scheme + decals is just too busy for this elegant design, but we'll see how this turns out.
  4. Hmm, these could also be the equivalent of Cylon Centurions, a kind of sentry in "stand by" mode. Why should they put some space suits in this corridor? Or maybe Scott just wanted to go for a "haunted castle IN SPACE" feel, with some decorative medieval armor.
  5. Anybody here who remembers "Legend"?
  6. "Ugly Toad" would be a more fitting name for the Raptor. Still, great paintjob on the kit.
  7. Ouch. Just what I thought. Anyway, good luck with the casting.
  8. Impressive work! Can you give us an idea about the cost of the printing?
  9. Maybe they can borrow one of JJ Abrams' skyscraper-sized slimey spider crabs for the role?
  10. At least it looks better than the F-22. And the competition: The Northrop Bomber is Ace Combat material:

  12. Make money, apparently: http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/the-dewline/2011/12/how-an-a-12-avenger-ii-canopy.html
  13. If this is the same room then it might indeed be a navigation/control apparatus. BTW does my butt look big in this?
  14. I'm not impressed by the quality of the decals, they're pretty stiff and immune to my decal softener, so I decided to paint the colonial emblem. Another plus was that I could use pale gold paint there. The emblem is pretty shattered by the panel trenches, but it's enough that something's there. Also, big city lights on the lower decks: They give a nice sense of scale.
  15. My mistake; I didn't want to include the video in the quote.
  16. Looks cool. Paint the interior in a darker tone than the rest of the ship and you're done. I highly recommend eliminating that nasty gap where the insets meet the hull parts with putty as it will jump right into your eye otherwise.
  17. Shouldn't this be in the "Worst SF" thread?
  18. Model Grafix strikes again:
  19. Time to update this thread. A few more pictures here.
  20. Good job on the Flanker, Benjo. Lookin forward to your VF-25. IMO it's a bitch to build cause you end up with so many sub-assemblys. - The G has make-up applied:
  21. Considering how long these prototypes are around I wouldn't even bet on next christmas. But the labels next to them have a "2012" on them.
  22. I had no problems with remakes at all (or a live-action Akira) if these weren't, for the majority, dumbed-down, streamlined star vehicles that exploit the success of original creations that had to go the hard way and achieved their popularity on their own merit.
  23. A recent sighting of the Alter Mave & Flip Knight, still no price
  24. That is actually a good idea. Now they only need to shift location to Neo-Tokyo.
  25. ...and he got majorly p*wnd on most of these movies
