Prometheus - on Blu-Ray and DVD Oct. 9, 2012
electric indigo replied to Pizza the Hutt's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
In the movie itself, they date the remains of the dead engineers to be about 2000 years old, if I remember correctly. This implies that they were preparing their doomsday machine in reaction to a cataclysmic event on earth... -

If you thought the movie could have been better, you can make alternative scenes with these excellent action figures. -
Abrams has already shown us his idea of an upgrade of a dated franchise with his Trek movie, and I think that's what Disney expects him to do with Star Wars, too. Visually, it will be as opulent as the prequels, cause that is the given standard of a contemporary Space Opera, (maybe they'll dial down the Flash Gordon elements), the story can't possibly be as contrived as the prequel's plot, but most importantly, Abrams can actually direct living actors. Lucas' poor talent in writing and his stiff handling of all the potentially great characters (and actors) really drove the final nail into the Star Wars coffin. I expect Abrams to make a movie that will have the hardcore SW followers tear their hair out, but that doesn't mean that the movie won't be more entertaining than Lucas' movies.

It's the 1/72 Hasegawa release from 2011 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10144510; the base kit might be the 2000 kit of the F-16C, with additional parts on separate runners for the Emirate's E. I did not use any 3rd party upgrades, the pilot is recast from Hase's 1/72 aircraft crew figure set, which looks much better than the neckless kit's figure. I built the HUD from two bits of 0.25 mm plastic sheet and iridescent gift wrap foil, which I also used on the sniper pod. Fitting and detail level is what you expect from Hasegawa, although not quite as good as their 2003 kit of the Mitsubishi F-2 I have here for comparison. It needs putty at the intake parts and the seams of the two fuselage halves.

Almost there. Mechtech, thanks for the info on the equipment. Petar, after some unpleasant results with flat cotes, I don't seal the weathering at all. Once dry, the paint is quite resistant to touching. This might not work so well with larger areas treated with chalk.

Looks like a very generic superhero comic minion design. IMO the robotic cops from the Total Recall remake looked more believable from a product design perspective.

Water color, or artists gouache, to be specific. It's odorless and can be corrected easily. Usually, I use a darker tone of the base color, but here I went for black and smudge the excess with my finger for a dirtier look.

Thanks, derex - looking at the real things, it's too perfect actually. Desert makes them age fast. But the Greek ones are the worst. Do they park them in earth holes filled with salt water? Worked on the panel lines today, completed the under side and part of the left.

Here's the full resolution character from the Kotaku page: I like the new Makoto, but I always liked the movie design better than the manga version.
