No the worst type of fan is a 12-17 year old who hasn't seen anything outside of DBZ, Bleach, Naruto or any other mainstream anime title that's broadcast on American TV. I feel it'd be quite hard to not have some sort western influence in anime.From how the characters are designed, location of the story or even the story. RT can't compete with TF nowadays they don't have any type of designs or a story thats insane but makes sense. They just have Protoculture.... and I'm still confused about what it is. I think the only redeeming quality the series has is that Lou Diamond Phillips is on the show and even then he's not on it enough to make want to watch it.

After watching this latest episode. Its not that good of a series. The characters just don't appeal ti me and there are too many questions for so early in the series.

Leonard Nimoy for Unicron The designs are fine. Bay need to learn that hand to hand combat doesn't always need a close up. Cut the parents out of the movie or give them (mainly the mom) less screen time. Better script. Don't add too many more TF's or it will become confusing. The twins were fine. someone explain how they figure they were racist. Devastator's appendages looked added and the scene look like it was added at the last second. If the dino bots were added then more stupid frat boy jokes will occur.

Idk. At least your giving them a try unlike others who go on auto pilot and say they're garbage. It maybe that you hold the original concept more dear than the newer series. Personally I like Macross Plus. Mainly due to the dogfights and animation. Your not alone on M7 I still haven't finished the remainder of the series. I had to force myself to watch it and I'll probably have to force myself to watch the rest of it. Anyway there is nothing wrong with you. There are people who refuse to accept any of the newer designs as a successor to the VF-1. Addendum: There may be an aspect/quality of the characters in SDFM and DYRL that appeal more to you.

Since you liked Gurren Lagann watch G Gundam if you really want to try and get into Gundam. It has a old kung fu flick vibe going for it. , ,naked girl in a cape, suicide attacks and the other things that make G Gundam unique. While your at it watch GoaGaiGar both are considered precursors to Gurren Lagann. there it's simple again @ wanzerfan those were the only plots i remember. please no more comments on gundam
