Can't argue with you there since we have no way of empirically testing this. My whole point is having 50BMG's shooting a Zen in the face may not be such a bad idea since, in a combat setting, being distracted may be the advantage a Tommie needs to kill the Zen.
Correct - I should clarify I was thinking about Hasegawa's models of real airplanes. Only one I can think of off-hand is Tamiya's Fi-156 kit from a couple of years ago (yeah I know NOT Hasegawa)
Oh well, the vertical format makes it very dramatic and I wish more manu. would do it.
You're right - my scale is off. Nonetheless, my analogy stands scalewise: a sewing needle is easily less than .10" and a bunch of them weighing 115gr (typical 50BMG is +/-700gr and 115gr is a common bullet weight used in 9mm handguns) traveling at 400-500 FPS (typical 50BMG travels at +/-2700 FPS) hitting my face would give me quite a bit more than an insignificant bloody lip.
Why not have machine guns in the head? To a Zentran, that'd be a couple of 50cal spraying right into his face - don't know about you, but, scale-wise, a face-ful of 22's in my face would be enough to ruin my day.
I would just leave those guns off. Heck, if you look at the scene from the series I can't even see where they would fit the guns - the breeches would have to sit where the pilot sits or have to pass through if he/she is lifted up when the hatch opens.
Dang - I just realized I'm still considered "Cannon Fodder" so when I receive my 1/48 Hasegawa VF-1 I'm gonna build it tan but in tiger stripes (a play on my old nickname).....
100% agree - if this was in 1/48 scale I'd pick it up for sure; 1/72 a very likely. 1/60 is too oddball a scale that doesn't match anything else I have so I've never had any desire to pick up one these or the toys.
+100 - I like that Hasegawa has designed this kit to be excellent on it's own at a reasonable price and leave the resin & PE details to the modeller's discretion (and pocketbook).
My 1/48 VF-19 and 1/72 Minmay Special from HLJ also arrived the same way. Here in the USA, Amazon ships their books, DVD's & CD's the same way; I like it as it minimizes the use of foam peanuts and I can recycle the cardboard insert & box.
Agree - beautiful sculpt but to my eyes anyways the head's always seemed kind of small in relationship to her body....and the face doesn't look anything like Yohko...
This is Hasegawa - if they stay true to form, there will be a DYRL boxing, a TV boxing labeled "Production Version", a "Skull Squadron" boxing , a "Bounty Hunter" boxing, a "Minmay Special" boxing, etc. etc. etc,. until the molds crap out....
March is perfect - will give me plenty of time to set aside money for this......monster.
And congrats on #2 - but be careful, they grow up a lot faster than you realize!
This movie is a Netflix movie for me - I own a big screen HDTV and seeing it at home would be about equivalent to seeing it in a theater. Except at home I have full use of a clean bathroom, my feet don't stick to the floor, popcorn doesn't cost more than a steak dinner and I can slam beers!
