  1. I think its lights... especially when you think that the VA-3 is desgined to fight underwater. It would make the most sense too. they are fixed forward in Fighter mode, and are moveable in batroid and gerwalk... I think the VA-3 is a cool design... maybe the most unorthdox besided the YF-21. I think (I might be wrong though) its the only one with a pilot in head configuration.
  2. Gotta love that little smile he gives right before his innards explode and he vaporizes the X-9 I'd have to agree its one of the best kills out there.
  3. Nonsense!!! Squall and Rinoa forever!!! FF VIII is the greatest FF EVER!!! I am an Unapologetic FF VIII fan!! Maybe the worse of the bunch.... FFVIII made me realize where Square was going, and it was just as bad (maybe even worse after) Final Fantasy Tactics was so very original in its own way. It had the most original engine, as Engrossing Huge story that really made it feel plasuable, and you were really doing something different. The Job classes for characters were well thought out very customizable. I've seen so many different character parties on the net and they all look so different (except the uber ultimate ones with all dancers or calculators). The coolest combo ever was (little cliquism here) Monk's bare handed with Ninja's two hands and hamedo. Ramza was sick sick sick with that combo. Is Tactics ogre better than FFTA? I'm looking for another game now.
  4. I think the actual frame was on sale recently ... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...12&t=2170&st=40
  5. ... sigh sometimes I should read the whole thread through before I post... but in complete speculation... can an overtechnology field dampener actually counteract the effects of high G manuvers in space?, like if it was possible real physics (not Anime Physics)
  6. oooooh yeah... that game(Driving). I thought I forgot about that one. My friend bought it as one of his first games for PS-2 (Its square, its gotta be good right?) and he is a car game freak.....I think he was wondering whether he should throw out the whole system, or just the game.... Haven't played bouncer... but from the numerous warnings... I'm sure I never will. Then again, do I want to play as the bane of my existance on saturday night?.. doubt it
  7. I'd disagree its the worst title out of square. I'd give it to most Final Fantasys after 7. FFT IS a classic. In my list of greatest games ever its probably around #3, Behind X-Com UFO defence, and Starcraft. (Thats my list, don't tell me why there are better, I think its a pretty respectable one to be honest) so it would be difficult to measure it up to such a perfect game. I'd agree though that FFTA made a major booh booh removing the Job points system. I think it is a trend that square has been moving to recyling old stuff... but its not as bad as FF 8, 9 or 10 for that matter. I think the quest system is a good change from the old, hackneyed storyline that is completely based off being an outsider, struggling to survive then finding this sinister ulterior threat to the world who the hereos must overcome to save the world. FFT's way of presenting the story was waaaay more realistically thought out and it was better. FFTA does seem to be oriented to a bit younger audience... and its a bit toungue in cheek as well. So take it as it is. ITs definately not the worst offering, but it has much room to improve (which I said before.) Hey does tactics ogre battles still not allow you to manipulate the units. That was what put me off the first Ogre battles because I couldn't control the individual units and I was often like... "why did you just attack him?" Imthinking advance wars 2 will be my next buy, then another RPG.
  8. I haven't seen Ep. 3 yet, but I thought you meant the guardian as AFOS. Didn't the blood of the Afos match that of the mayans or something? I've been reading spoilers because I don't have time to download it, (living vicariously through you guys) so take my argument as always as a grain of salt. I extrapolated from this thread. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...f=2&t=3557&st=0 Just picking up on the idea that the Mayans are evolutionary decendants of the Protocultures, and the ASS-1's crew basically was protocultures, then they should be matched easily. Remember they have no clue about the Zentredi yet (poor suckers), so they are trying to fill in the blanks who these people are. Wouldn't you be shocked if you not only found alien artifact lying on the sea floor that matches the battlesho[, but, gasp... there are actual decendendants of these aliens living on earth for the last 60000 years (or however long since the PCs left). Most people probably thought the aliens were some green 10 tenticled beast, not our evolutionary cousins. I'd like to think that the AFOS was somehow connected to the protodevilin (their evolutionary precursors maybe?)... it would make M-7 more palatable in my mind. But we have gone over this argument enough to make grounded horse meat out of it.
  9. could it be possibly the bodies of individuals found within ASS-1. If the guardian used protoculture DNA, then isn't it unreasonable to suspect that they would match the DNA of the Supervision army's DNA as well.
  10. I'm also with Graham on this one. some The best fun I ever had playing a computer game was in high school when we used the Autocad LAN to play games. Our favorite was Rise of the Triad, where we would play every which level, and swear across the room late on friday nights. Before that We used doom... so I go waay back. beside LAN games, playing console games with like 4 friends also were memorable. Playing Bond on the N-64 with friends was almost a right of passage. Or how about Super mario cart... with one balloon left and hes got the red shell... thats the stuff I remember when playing. You can get friends who wouldn't normally play computer games to go nuts on multiplayer console games. Thats waay more fun than playing against a faceless opponent half the world away. We even had a way of settling disputes in my house using Bond, Perfect Dark and Halo... like whose turn it was to do the garbage..."lets settle this through bond"" I declare trial by Bond". Even stupid games bring on a life of their own when you play with friends. Anybody played Super Smash Brothers Melee for GC ? its a riot. All the stupidness of playing on the net goes away too playing with friends, no BSers, cheaters, hackers, flamers ect. Its your friends, you don't do those things. I still love online games, and probably play them more than I do console games. But when people trashed Game cube because It didn't have "online support"... I shook my head. The game cube has been more fun than any other system (except for the X-Box and halo).
  11. I've been thinking about this... And maybe its complete science fiction, but maybe someone with a physics degree can explain this... If they have Anti gravity devices .... what would prevent them from counteracting inertia by creating another gravity field that could nullify its affects. my physics classes are five years out so maybe I'm talking about two different things. If it could work you could have VF-22s able to hit the +-60Gs mark like they were designed for. And if you think that they couldn't create a gravity producer that small, think again, because in Macross 7 we see microphones for firebomber that must rely on anti gravity to stay infront of the singer.
  12. I just bought a new GBA (not the sp, because I liked to old one's stying and I got around not having a backlit screen for a decade, so no need for one), for the sole reason of Final Fantasy Tactics.I loved the first one so much that I wanted to get this one. FFT for PS1 is consistanty ranked as one of the best RPGs and hands down the best of the Final Fantasy series. (Not to go OT but I believe there hasn't been a good Final fantasy since Tactics(that was truly innovative or had a good story, rather than the formulaic approach the last 5 have had) ) From the 13 hours straight that I played, Id say its a pretty good successor to FFT, but they simplified the game a little too much for my liking. Still its supposed to be a long game, so I'm looking forward to the rest of it. It has a pretty cool side mission feature that they took from FFT and made it integral to the game. Also it uses FF IV's equip weapons to learn abilities system, but the old FFT job point system was far better IHMO. All in all though Im having fun with it.
  13. could I thin the royal blue and not expect to see the dreaded milkiness of death?? (also I only did the tailfins... so I don't have to strip the paint again.) thanks for the help!
  14. I've been repainting my YF-21 lately, and because of my horribly screwed up job last time which made me strip the whole thing, I've taken it thinning the paint and doing it slowly. I'm using Tamyia Flat blue, thinnned it with isopropynal alcohol, and I painted it with a brush (high quality artist brush). I'me getting the paint job with like a milky hue to it... its noticble enough to actualy change what the hue of the blue is, making almost likea gray like blue at a distance. I've done 4 coats (the paint is very thinned ) but I can't figure out the problem. Anybody else encounter this? Thanks in Advanced
  15. Can't a gun be both a railgun and use a chemical charge to kick the round started? I'd say thats the most likely way they did it. The Railgun aspect gets it from normal bullet speed to hypervelocity.
  16. Sorry Jelenien, I thought you were saying that the compendium was wrong and that this picture proved it... which I misunderstood. I didn't mean to be rude about it, and my humblest apologies Your right Azarel Nanashi does't post anything about the officiality of his sources, But thats the problem, He puts at the top of the page the title, VF-11 leg missiles and leaves it at that. Someone who doesn't know about the issue would take the frame as cannon, which it obviously isn't. Thats been an issue with Nanashi's page for some time. Thats not to say that he doesn't do great work (he does get pictures that are very rare), but its a bit of a bother.
  17. A better question Jelenien is did you read the sources we posted above? This is why I don't trust Nanashi's "sources". The compendium EXPLAINS why this frame of anime exists. It was an error by the animators, and there is no other explaination. Its like the animation mistake in Macross that HG turned into the YF-1R or something stupid like that. Kawamori says explicitly there is no missile bay, then there is no missile bay. He had a good reason why he didn't want a missile bay to be included on baseline VF-11s, and that is cannon.
  18. There are no missiles in the legs of regular VF-11, and the VF-1s had fixed wing hardpoints anyways (RMS-1) Steelfalcon.com is about the last place you want to look for the true stats. Although Dave Deitrich did do a good job he has been proven wrong several times. The compendium IS the bible for this sort if stuff. Read The above link to the macross compendium, and scroll to the absolute bottom. It states the missiles in the leg are a error by animators, and only the MAXL has it. When in doubt the Compendium always is right.
  19. I'd agree with it that the non fast pack version has nothing but guns. The VF-11 really just speaks to me "Old Technology", Its really just an upgraded version of the VF-1 when you think about it. But at the time, that was okay because they were good enough to take on Zentradi units, which were the only threat that the UN Spacy had to deal with (that or rebels that used the UN spacy's old equipment.). As I said on another thread all they needed was lots of nukes, Minmay and the VF-11 to mop up the Zentredi mecha. And most of the combat situations was going to be in space anyways. The Zentredi were more interested in eradication than pacification, so you would be facing them in space more likely than in an atmopshere. Even the best special forces fighter at the time, the VF-17 was optimized for space combat. And if they really needed atmospheric punch they also had VF-14, and the VA-3 which could carry missiles and do the heavy damage. Only by 2035+ did the UN spacy figure out it was being outclassed by enemy mecha (anti-UN powerarmor seen at the beginning of the 1st M+ OAV). They started realizing that in atmopshere combat would be more and more likely. Part of this was the increasing realization that colonies were starting to rebel, and that they may have to use VFs against terrestrial threats. As you noted the VF-17 and VF-11 were not well equipped for that role. That prompted supernova and the completely revolutionary designs of VF-19/21.
  20. I'm going to have to emphasise this, ITs not anime he copied, but Violent Japanese live action movies. You don't see many of these here because they wouldn't get them past censors, and they are not as popular as Anime. A lot of them the worst anime can't hold a candle up to these they have mass murders, sexual acts mixed in with violence, gangland hits, ect and so forth . A lot of them are just plain depraved and they try to outmatch each other. It wasn't like TT thought of it in a new way... no he just copied OUTRIGHT the worst parts of the violence and removed the plot behind them and called it a movie. Visonary? Groundbreaking? Not in the least.
  21. This may sound inflammitory but it isn't because I don't know how else to say it, KB was garbage. Actually I thought of it as a reaaaaaally poor rip off of Many Japanese action flims SANS intelligence (not anime, but live action Japanese films that are like it). At least In a lot of the Japanese film there is a theme and a plot discernable, as convoluted as it may seem., KB just removed all that and made it all action. Thats not art, thats stupidity, even I could do that. I've got a cabinet full of Japanese films that feature the same action as KB that actually are interesting to watch. A REALLY good movie out is Master And Commander. Napoleonic Warfare has always been a pet interest of mine so watching it was a real treat. Factually faithful to the period (except the antagonist who was actually American in the novel, rather than French) It didn't pull many punches which I really enjoyed, (ok it could of been even more gory, but it still wasn't that nice)
  22. Is north America going to get a front mission port? It only looks like Japan is getting the 20,000 units. I found this articles (and many like it)… but I may be wrong. FM is one of my favorite games though, I had to emulate 1 and 2 as well as alternative to play it... and it was a blast. (but I deleted them after 24 hours of course) http://uk.games.yahoo.com/030928/39/e9nvp.html
  23. I use isopropynol Alcohol, it works wickedly to remove it. I had to remove paint from a whole YF-21 once and it did wonders.
  24. I think I found a use for a VT-1 http://www.rferl.org/nca/features/1999/05/...0517140909.html Although i don't think I'll make such a dramatic nose, Im sure that I can put together a evil looking ECM or ECCM bird.
  25. in atmosphere a thermonuclear engine doesnt really need fuel, as it can use the enormous energy potential of fusion power to heat air as a propellant. If you could transfer the raw energy from the reaction, while keeping the reaction mass (helium 3) for later reaction, you essentially have a limitless energy source. And if you do need fuel all you need to crack is water to get hydrogen to run your fighter. But you would not be using the hydrogen as reaction mass anyways so its not needed very often. I'm guessing though that a overtechnology thermonuclear turbine can run off any light element to run the fighter, no matter the temperature/pressure needed to get it to fuse. In space on the other hand fighters run into a major problem because there is no reaction mass for the fighters to use like air in an atmosphere. Either the engines use some of the mass released by the energy reaction to propell themselves (which doesn't do much because the molecules released are so light) or they carry a secondary propellent that is heavier and is excited through the thermonuclear reaction released out the back as thrust.
