I have always loved the VF-4 Lightening III. Something about that model just calls to me.

I'd love to share body heat with Misa

Could name it after the VF squadrons. Skull and whatnot. I'm sure someone has a list of the squad names used throughout the series.

I'm going to have to agree. Transformers was advertised as a cartoon written by Americans for American children, it wasn't revealed as a Japanese anime until later on. Robotech was advertised as Japanese anime converted for the american masses. At least in Texas where I grew up. The 1st "cartoon" I knew as not a normal series was Robotech. It felt different, read different and had a very alien story line in comparison to the other cartoons on at the time. No, I'm not saying that with out Robotech anime would not be as big as it is in the US and around the world. Yes, I agree fully that it gave anime a huge steroid shot in he proverbial arm.

Try Twonky. All it really took for me was to set the content directory for my media and I was up. Plays beautifully from my PS3. -
Favorite VF pilot? (not necessarily the best)
Cpt_Gloval replied to Xx-SKULL-ONE-xX's topic in Movies and TV Series
Isamu. His joy while in the air flavors all his missions. He genuinely loves to fly and is a better pilot for it. -
Now that would be a cool idea. Could be based on a newer colony planet where law and order were still being established so the group could get a better foothold and not get snuffed out before getting some momentum to it's cause. One of the members of the triangle could be an ex-NUNG pilot that joined the local Law Enforcment group then tried to infiltrate the cult to try and take it down but started drinking the cool-aid. The 2nd could be his commanding officer that was aware of his infiltration attempt but not his conversion as he begins to feel false info back to the "Cops". The 3rd could be a female politician that both are wooing and trying to get on their side of the movement, the 1st guy wants her to pass a law making zent slavery legal and the 2nd wants government backing to go all Waco, TX on the cult's headquarters.

I would have to say DYRL is my all time favorite Macross iteration. The glory shot of the SDF-1 in the begining coming out from the shadow of Saturn's rings still gives me goose bumps. The characters seem more real and visceral then they were in SDF Macross. The emotions portrayed very much more real.

What do you think is the most innovative VF design?
Cpt_Gloval replied to Xx-SKULL-ONE-xX's topic in Movies and TV Series
I voted for the VF-4. Of all the valkyries this, I believe, is the most inovative. The VF-1 to an extent was build as a knee-jerk reaction of discovering that there were infact aliens out there and they were f-ing huge. They took a Fighter Jet design that was decidedly Earth made and implemented the Overtechnology discovered abord the ASS-1 to develop a craft that they felt gave them a fighting chance against the possible threat. After SW1 they were able to sit down and actually develop a fighter with, to an extent, time. This time spent came up with the VF-4, a very non-terran looking craft. Later valkyries may have better weapons and armor and better sub-systems within but the VF-4 showed Human inovation in a more pure form. -

Download the K-lite Mega Codex pack. Comes with the newest version of MPC and all the current versions of codec renders. -
I reslly enjoyed this entire season. Matt is the 1st actor, IMHO, that has truly taken posesion of the character and put his stamp on it since Tom Baker. We'll see where it goes from here in 6 months.

Ok, I've looked through this entire thread and I don;t see a link to download this in WMV, if it still exists. Can someone point me in the right direction please. I've played some of the youtube videos from the 1st post and they look awesome. I would like something I can play as a straight movie so I can enjoy the entire thing. Thank you.

I'll second that. I thought Matt did a wonderful job. I think this season will be one of the best since the reimaging. I loved David, once I got used to him, and Chris did an awesome job of reinventing the series but I think Matt was mad for the role and will make the most of it.

I would say she blushes from his comment because as a member of the military, she over stepped her bounds as a 1st Lt in ordering the choppers out. Global could, and probably should have, reprimanded her for doing so but as he is an "old hand" he knew he would have done it anyway and had the jump on the situation thanks to Misa's quick thinking. This would also explain why he whispered it to her. He would not want to show "weakness" in front of a new crew on the cusp of a new assignment.

Validity of the Super Long Range Emigration Strategy
Cpt_Gloval replied to Uxi's topic in Movies and TV Series
Let's keep in mind that the defenses that fired upon the YF-19 and 21 were probably under Sharon's control. As UNS craft they would have had some form of IDENT that would had caused the defense screen to ignore them. Just like Virtwalli's troop mecha did during the final battle of SW1 with Boddole Zer's fleet. With out this even friendlies that came in range would be fired upon making the planet unapproachable. You would have to blast your way in for any and every visit to the surface. Would be like having to break down your door every time you came home. Very costly. This is why there is so much money spent in today's world, and I would assume in the Macross universe, to encrypt all communication and keep details, like the defense screen frequency, secure and hidden. -
You mean OTEC isn't real?!?!? goes in a corner and cries...

You also have to look at the fact, in the case of M7 and M25, you are a on a space convoy. You have a finite amout of space to dedicate to factory implacements. You have to have VFs. That goes without saying for space operations. Therefore if, with a few very small factories, you can make customize parts for the VFs you ar already chruning out to preform the same duty as a destroid instead of having to dedicate multiple large factories to make the same one purpose unit, you should go that route. And with the recycling system they would have to have on a colony convoy like the 7 or 25, you would be able to churn out a lot more "standard" VFs at a much lower price. Destroids are just not a smart use of space and resources for a deep space convoy.
