Didn't the pine sol make the plastic brittle? Only if you leave it in for too long. If I were you, I would definitely keep checking on it and not leave it soaking for more than a few hours. The type of paint will also make a difference in how well certain chemicals work. BTW, Pine-Sol works wonders on metal parts. I personally use Pine-Sol because that was the first one I tried and it worked. Other chemicals that people have said work well: -Easy-off Oven Cleaner -Windex -Ajax (The powdered stuff) -Brake fluid (I know for certain this will work on the stock paint on a Jetfire, but it is VERY potent and will brittle your plastic very quickly. If you ever choose to use it, put it on a take it off as quickly as possible) All of these, like Pine-Sol, can damage the plastic if left in them too long. Some are stronger than others, so be careful in your testing.

Oh well, too bad. Can't blame me for being hopeful.

I thought the bump was supposed to be white. it is

Good point. Maybe the mods can "mash" them together like they did with some other threads. It's pretty cool when they do.

If HG came away from this legal battle only to own the "animation" for SDF Macross, then they got the shaft. Think about it. What do the fans like? The storyline, the mecha design, and for some people, the soundtrack. The actual "animation" was shotty at best (as compared to later Macross animation, even DYRL). So theoretically, after Mac0, BW could say "screw the original footage", let them have it, take the audio track, and draw up a "new" animated series episode for episode, that's up to par with DYRL or Mac+ animation, rename it "Macross 1" or something of the sort, and show it as a "new" series that they can feel free to distribute wherever the heck they want. IIRC, the hory froating head himself always said that the Space War 1 storyline for SDF Macross was "canon",but the animation itself was not entirely (the line art holds that title). Then they could redefine the original SDF Macross series as a "cartoon or TV show" within the Macross universe that tell the story of the first Space War, (Much like how DYRL is a "movie", within the Macros universe). I'm not saying it's an idea that wouldn't recieve a lot of criticism from Macross and RT fans alike, or that it's something that they'd even consider, but it would certainly f*** over HG as far as anything they can claim and the thought of that makes me happy. It's just a thought though.

So does this mean that HG only has the rights to the animated footage? What about the audio track that they didn't use? Hypothetically speaking, would it be legal for BW to take the original audio track and put new animation to it? Sorry for my ignorance, I'm just asking this to understand exactly what HG has a claim on.

In anticipation of KILL BILL Volume 1 & 2.
tom64ss replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I really enjoyed Reservoir Dogs. I like Pulp Fiction but though it was WAY overrated. The short in Four Rooms was decent because of Tim Roth and the wager was over a 64 Malibu (it was Travolta's car in Pulp Fiction too) but I thought Tarantino was annoying as hell. Jackie Brown was marginal at best. Yeah I'll see Kill Bill, but I'm not expecting much. And yes, I think he's a decent director, but not as "amazing" as people make him out to be. He just knows what movie elements to "borrow" and he'll openly admit that nothing he does is "revolutionary" or original, just cool. -
I think Hurin was the only one who seemed really upset. He'll get over it.

Cool custom design! "I like it, I like it a lot."

Us or Rob? I'm pretty sure his cast will be all tan/off-white. As for the molds being done, WOOHOO!!!!

First of all we're talking about Macross toys. A few year ago, $130 would've only gotten you a Joon's, which we all know is far from perfect. Secondly, I really don't think that there's anything wrong with the Ver. 1 of the first 2 1/48s. I could care less about the nose cone improvement. The wing flap doesn't bother me as I never move them. We still don't know if the pimple issue and head seam was resolved (prob. have to wait for the Hikaru VF-1S to find out), not that the little bit of sanding it takes to fix it bothers me. The crooked skull I didn't even notice until it was pointed out here, and the nosecone gap is present on the newer models and doesn't bother me as I never take the landing gears out (too much trouble for what it's worth). Overall, even with these minor "problems", I still love my 1/48 1S and think it was one of my all time best purchases for the price. These "problems" are nowhere near the VF-11B hip problems or the YF-19 Tab B problems, which were real issues and personally feel that people are just nitpicking. The improvements are slight at best, and I don't believe will make the VF-1S significantly better or worse, but that just my opinion. I was just being a wisea$$ before.

I got an idea. Sell your VF-1S at a slight loss and and take that money to buy the reissue with the so-called "improvements". Then wait a couple years until you realize that the version 1 is worth $50-100 more than the version 2 (ala YF-19). Then you can whine about selling your "valuable" version 1. I have the VF-1S and its great. If the little improvement you're talking about are so important to you, then I suggest you stop giving into your "gotta have it as soon as it comes out" mentality. One more thing. Didn't somebody here offer to trade anyone who'd rather have a version 2 1/48 for their version 1 1/48 just the other day? Who was that? Well whoever it was, if they'll do it, problem solved. EXO, the funniest thing about that LT quote is that he got busted for crack a week after "The Waterboy" came out.

Sorry man, but if I were feeling generous, I'd say this guy is really naive of how the law and intellectual property work in the US. Most likely I'd just say he's full of s**t. SuperO is right. BW giving up any ground is tantamount to giving up the whole field. If they are the ones who pulled the plug on the project, they did it for sound legal reasoning and not just to rain on everyone's parade. Hey, this is the same guy who tried to tell justvinnie, who's job it is to work on a cure for anthrax, that a cure already existed. He has proven more often than not that he has no idea what he's talking about. I wouldn't worry to much about what he wrote. Anyone who's had any experience with his ramblings, already know he's full o' shite.

You should post this in Newbie Questions Read Lebhead's Protocuture story page for answers: http://protoculture.lebhead.com/story/

I'd have to agree. He's laying it on pretty thick too.

ROTFLMAO Shouldn't HE be the one paying?

Wow, beautiful as always Dev. Between these and the standard 1/48 set I ordered last time, I can now make my 1/48 Max look near perfect. Although, I think my other two 1/48's are going to be quite jealous.
-
I'm not even cool now.

If that were the case, Jake Lloyd wouldn't have sucked. "Now this is pod racing"....where's the puke emoticon?

I thought she was good in Beautiful Girls. Then again, that's one of my favorite underrated movies.

Eh, I'm no Gundam fan. And the similarity is in the waist armor that resembles the "skirts" that are oh-so-characteristic of many of the mecha from Gundam. I think that's pretty common in a lot of different animes. It's kind of samurai-ish.
-
That's great. Good job WDC.
-
I don't think it does. I think the arm armor just looks very similar to the FA VF-11 shield, but if you'll notice, it's on both arms and doesn't look detachable.

What would I want as a limited 1/48? Hmm.. Well, the only "limited" versions we could possibly see are repaints of existing toys. Yamato would take a loss making the whole sculpt for a toy they only plan to release as a "limited" version, thus making the Thunderhammer/hummer, VB-6, and other ideas like that really unrealistic. As much as I love the Blue Roses paint scheme, I voted Angel Birds, just because it the only choice that was actually in the animation and may never see production as a toy. My second choice is that they make the VF-1D original color scheme as a regular release and make a brownie, low-vis, or a "Virgin Road" blue version as a "limited" release. My personal prference order would be 1) Virgin Road (same reason as Angel Birds) 2) Brownie, and 3) low-vis, since there's already a low-vis 1A. I'll pass on the Minmei Guard. I never really liked that scheme.

4 is plenty. Having 8 would make any type of display a bit too "busy" and take focus away from the Valk itself. That's just my 2 cents.
