I'm just paranoid I'll end up with a broken Valk with no hope of a replacement, like the unfortunate situation with MacrossJunkie and his VF-19S.

Yeah, I've heard they're okay with Yamatos as long as you avoid the painted surfaces. I haven't heard of any issues with Bandai Valks, even with their heavy paint application, but I guess time will tell.
