  1. Unlikely. But last year, Wave was courting a series of snap-fit 1/100 scale VF-1 kits at the hobby shows. They were supposed to be released this Spring. Unfortunately, for some reason, Wave dropped the idea early this year. Probably not to mix up with Bandai's VF100s line.
  2. These aren't VF100s toys. It's listed under HLJ's injection kits section so most likely these are just re-pressings of the old Arii or Imai kits.
  3. It could possible be in the new movie. Then again, make believe recolors isn't anything new. I mean heck even Hasegawa and Yamato does it.
  4. Katoki's interpretation of the RX-78 first appeared as an illustration in the instructions booklet for the old 1/144 HG kit. Not the current HGUC kit. There was an older HG kit which came out back in the early 90's. Around the same time, his design was used as the coverart for the laserdisc release of the 1st movie. Ever since his interpretation got popular many current RX-78 toys/art/etc (even those that are not Vers. Ka) tend to incorporate his cues. It's been said that his interpretation of the RX-78 began from the design of the NT-1 from War in the Pocket. IOW, he took the NT-1 Alex and worked "backwards".
  5. Maybe Endless Eight will end up being 8 episodes long?
  6. Getting rid of the sprue marks on a metallic coating kit is impossible (except to strip the whole coating off and paint everything). On a normal kit, I often do the following - 1. Sand down with a sanding stick often used for finger nails - using different sanding grades. Just get it nice and smooth. 2. If the mark is still there after the sanding then I use Gundam marker (I use GM02 for just about any dark plastic). Just dab the area and rub with finger. 3. Apply clear flat coat on whole model when done Not the best solution (and not recommended by true modelers) but it's good enough for me.
  7. I have used Tamiya Clear Flat straight on to the decals. No problems. I've also used Testor's Dullcote straight. Both are lacquer based and I've never had problems. Bandai's waterslide decals tend to be rather thick (at least based on my experience with Gunplas) so lacquer based clear coats don't seem to hurt them much. No problems with dry-tansfer decals too.
  8. Most importantly, even if it was possible to make this wonderweapon, who's going to pay for it? We can't even find funds for a handful of stealth fighters! The ground soldier will NEVER be obsolete. We've developed all sorts of armored vehicles but at the end of the day, the joe with a gun is the only one that can occupy land.
  9. I'd have to somewhat agree with wm cheng. I go to my local hobby store quite often and it's the same story. I'm probably the youngest guy who buys kits and supplies there. And I'm already in my mid-30s. And yes, we're certainly getting alot busier in our lives these days. Now in my case, I'm still a newbie to kit building. My skills are nowhere near any of the maestros here at MW. In fact, my entry into kit building was helped by Bandai's Gundam kits. Thanks to the internet, I was able to glean enough information help me feel confident enough to build a Gunpla to a level I can be happy with. The Gundam kits, gave me some experience and more confidence - enough to next tackle traditional kits. It also helps that my income has reached a point where I can indulge a bit on kit building. One of the things that make traditional kits a bit less appealing to newcomers is the cost in learning how to build them and the equipment needed. To be honest, I'd rather build a snap-fit Gunpla than a traditional Hasegawa-type kit. They just come together faster, easier, and cheaper. In this fast-paced busy life, that's a big plus and no doubt one of the reasons why Gunplas have gotten so popular. But I know that I have to learn how to make the traditional type kits if i want certain models in my preferred scales (1/72, 1/100, and 1/144). And even certain Gunpla kits (especially the older ones) need work to look decent. Now, not all kits have to be like an MG Bandai kit. There will always be a place for the traditional Tamiya or Hasegawa type kit as they offer certain attributes that Bandai pre-colored snap-fits do not. But perhaps it would be nice if say Hasegawa could take a few cues from Bandai and offer an alternate line of easy-build Gunpla-ish kits? Perhaps such could revive the kit building hobby a bit? Just as the MG and HGUC lines did for Gundam modeling? Dunno. Just some thoughts. Getting back on topic, 1/48 YF-19 is too darn big for me. Rather than bigger, i want smaller. Like 1/144.... I'm probably in the minority.
  10. That's exactly what I need! Thanks!
  11. I need help from those of you who built Hasegawa's VF-1 kit. Right now I'm building the cockpit but I've come across a problem. I want to put a pilot figure into the cockpit. I don't know why Hasegawa doesn't offer a pilot figure in their kits. So I figure to somehow insert a modern fighter pilot figure from my spare parts box. I'm going to try and make/fake a Macross-ish pilot from it. The problem is, nothing I have seems to fit right. All the figures I have seems to not reach the sidesticks or the rudder pedals. Maybe there's a better or simpler idea? I'm open to suggestions.
  12. Here you go - pre-built diorama set http://hobbymaster.com.hk/airpower_72_hd1002.shtml http://www.flyingmule.com/products/HM-HD1002 1/72 scale. Start building those 1/72 Hasegawas and Bandai kits! Personally I hope Yamato revisits the 1/72 scale sometime in the future. It'd make things sooo much easier (scale wise).
  13. Things like sensors, avionics, and engine thrust are relatively easy to upgrade. Agility is sometimes overrated. Training, tactics, and support systems can overcome slight deficiency in agility. As for Eagles and Falcons being beaten by Typhoons or Flankers, IIRC there's more to those stories than just the quality of the airframes.
  14. When it comes to ricing, the VF-25 takes the cake. You know, like the Armored VF-25? And ofcourse the ultimate in ricing: http://www.new-un-spacy.com/macrossga/sdp-...ede-fighter.gif And yeah, this Valk is so much more "reasonable" than the VF-2. Yes, Bandai, Yamato, Hasegawa, et al, please give me the VF-2SS and VF-11MAXL! I like unusual (others say ugly) looking aircraft.
  15. You're thinking of probably Narumi Kakinouchi (manga author of Vampire Princess Miyu). She and her husband Toshihiro Hirano worked as Animation Directors in DYRL. I love her art.
  16. I'm not catching what promethuem5 pointed out. However, I think you forgot to attach the achilles heel guard armor on the foot. Just a suggestion: You might want to blow some clear flat spray on it. It'll protect the rub on decals and make your Zaku look even better.
  17. Future. In fact it's supposed to take place 17 years after the last movie "Final Yamato". But I bet it won't seamlessly connect to the original series and it'll end up being something like an alternate future. I believe Sanada Shiro is already confirmed to appear in this movie. In anycase, I'm excited about this new Yamato movie. I hope it leads to a new wave of Yamato toys and models.
  18. Personally, I think it looks PERFECT with nothing on the back and just having the logo on the left chest on the front side. I like it simple.
  19. Here's my comparison shot to a 1/72 pilot that's made for diecast fighters.
  20. Keep in mind though, the VF-0 is ginormous and I've heard that the pilot figure for it is a bit overscale.
  21. So I got my 2 copies of the VF100's VF-25G. Quickly opened and checked the sniper rifle. Thankfully mine wasn't as badly made as regult's. However, I now know what happened to his sniper rifle. I noticed one of mine wasn't connected PERFECTLY straight at the point regult had issue with. So I thought I'd lightly bend it... "snap"... yup, broke clean in half right at that point. I can see this happening at the factory too. In my case, no biggie, a bit of superglue applied with a toothpick and it's back together (and now nice and straight too).
  22. Perhaps a re-re-redesign of the neck so that it doesn't have to be neckless or need head swapping?
  23. The photo that CF18 posted shows a poster board in the background with the words "S.H. Figuarts". Which would mean a figure around 15cm in height.
  24. I happen to be Japanese and I find your post highly offensive. And I (as well as my parents) reject all of your viewpoints. Oh yeah, wasn't political discussion not allowed here?
  25. Crap. Oh well, I can fix a bit of looseness with a bit of glue. At least the intakes haven't regressed to Alto style. I think I've gotten used to oversize guns. Esp. after Toynami's VF-1, Yamato's VF-11 GNU, and Bandai's v2.0 RX-78. X) Oh well, better a bit oversize than one too small. If it was too small, I'd have to pretend Mikhail was Golgo 13.
