The Macross Quarter. DX Chogokin
Vifam7 replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yes, but the C3 'baby blue packs' model looks like the same one shown at Shizuoka which happened long before the magazine issue. Who knows. Maybe the colors aren't finalized yet because Kawamori is waffling. In anycase we'll know for sure when the movie/toy comes out. -

It's also important to note that the placard underneath the cruiser mode model says something about the colors not yet being final. -

Nope, the movie version VF-25 has already been determined to have light gray super packs. -
I think I can understand the interview. Artists generally don't like to be constrained by rules set by a previous work because it inhibits originality. The less they have to follow canonity and whatnot the better. I think directors like Kawamori and Tomino learn to work within the constraints or cleverly work around it.

We've been down this road before. Been there, said that, sometimes true, sometimes false, your mileage may vary. ^_-

If the parts are loose, I suggest using some glue or varnish to make it stiffer. For ball-joints - a light application of superglue on the ball then moving the joint around so it won't freeze in one position. Eventually you'll feel it tighten. For stick on parts like armor, some clear nail polish (or any kind of clear lacquer) on the connecting pegs will do the trick.

NugundamII, I feel for you. When a $200 toy breaks due to faulty QC, material, or engineering, you can't help but get pissed. That said, perhaps it would've been better if you had sought some advice here at MW before getting Yamato-rage and flinging the toy towards the wall? A good number of folks here seem to have experience in making fixes on toys (particularly on Yamato Valks) .

WTF!! A new Battlestar Galactica film is in the works??!&
Vifam7 replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think it's more of a comfort level thing. They grew up in that time period and they're used to and prefer what was the standard of the period. Kinda like how some guys love the old 60-70's cars and how they handle, than modern cars with traction control and all sorts of computer assistance. -

There are fans who say the samething about the original SDF Macross TV series or Robotech. -
I got to see a better photo of the article and read the text better. The text says they are aiming for perfect transformation using diecast in a certain area. The parts you see in the bottom left picture are supposedly option parts which is used to make the proportions better.

I wonder how they affect stealthiness... Louder than Tomcats? The loudest aircraft I've ever experienced is the Concorde. 4 Rolls-Royce Olympus turbojets in full reheat at take-off.

I say bullshit. You/we download or buy bootlegs because it's cheap and you/we are cheap. Everything else is just weak excuses. Company employees not fairly paid for the work? Yeah, whatever. That claim can be placed on any company out there. Besides, is pirating is going to solve the problem? I don't think so. Since you don't feel like supporting the anime companies, I suppose you'd rather have them collapse? Yeah, that'll be beneficial for the fans. And I'm sure the workers like to be unemployed. Oh, and the piraters? I'm sure they pay their workers fair and square.

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
Vifam7 replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Ngee Khiong is reporting that the latest issue of Dengeki Hobby confirms that Bandai is releasing the VF-27 this Fall. -
Nothing suggests that it would be an exclusive. Exclusives are usually optional parts or variations on the standard release. Besides it says this will be the 2nd VF100s release. One new info is presented in the blurb. It says diecast metal will be used for one area. Doesn't say where but I think the use of metal would certainly improve this line.

Looks like a Family Mart (a chain of convenience stores) exclusive. The colors are Family Mart colors. I guess Family Mart wanted their own VF-25s. The typical looking Family Mart store in Tokyo.

Not exactly. If you record his music and then distribute it, whether for profit or not, it's not legal. I believe that's how it is under current laws of the US and Japan. The key word is 'distribution' not acquisition. Using the above example, you could probably pass your recording to a couple of friends. The musician would probably never know or care. But if you take the recording and distribute it on the internet via torrents or something where millions can download and the musician finds out, he might take you to court for distributing his work without permission. Scale of distribution is another factor.

I'm guessing it's a fighter only model due to the fact that it has the metallic coating. Any attempt to transform it probably would've meant the metallic coating coming off or getting scratched. Anyone who has dealt with metallic coating Gunpla or the old Arii Metalize 1/100 Macross kits know what I mean. And yes, I can confirm that it says fighter mode only on the box.

I suppose in a way, you can already see the changes anime companies have been making. Like more content being shown online, episode counts being shorter, prices being higher, broadcast episodes being watered-down, and content having more "moe" or being based on titles that have succeeded in the past or in other media like video games. It's hard to say which are right moves and which are the wrong moves.

Not exactly. Anime is made in Japan and Japanese anime companies prescribe to Japanese laws. That means, a distributor of the program must have a license with the rights holder (say Macross from Big West). Just because a country allows downloading does not mean it's not stealing. Simply put, the option is DEAL WITH IT. Kids these days are so spoiled they want everything on a silver platter now now now. And to top it off, they won't pay up. (Not pointing at you Bri) The quality and amount of stuff available (at least here in the states) have been quite decent and plentiful. I feel for those outside the US, but just because your country doesn't have a legit anime market doesn't mean you have the right to steal. I hear that in some countries, the piracy is so bad, legit companies simply can't operate there. As it's been said many times on various other forums - "YOU CAN'T BEAT FREE!". Exactly how are anime companies supposed to make money when "fans" won't support them financially? Anime companies aren't charity organizations ya know. Now granted, I haven't been the cleanest fan out there. I have done some downloading myself, but I do try to buy legit DVDs and ofcourse the toys as often as possible.

1/48+fp's, 1/60, And 1/72 Picture Gallery Pt 4
Vifam7 replied to VF-18S Hornet's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I get mine from gundamstoreandmore or hobbywave. I suggest using this.. This one is acrylic based so it's easier to clean up if you make a boo boo. -
That's an event exclusive special. Likely that none of us will ever get one. Fighter mode only is actually something I'd like to get a hold of. Rather have it done right at the factory than me super-gluing the legs into correct position. As for PVC, the only part that was made of it in my Alto and Ozma VF25s was the rifle. Dunno about the Armored version VF-25 as I don't have that yet.
-
Uh what? The GNU doesn't transform. The VF100 does transform but it's parts-forming. the VF100 is not made of PVC. It's made of mainly ABS plastic. Some of the option parts such as the rifle is made of PVC though. It's quite sharp and decently detailed. Accuracy is slightly off though - such as the hip location and the size of Mikhail's rifle. Over priced for sure. But then I think every Macross toy out there is over-priced. I deal with it.

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.6

I'm guessing that it was simply a matter of the movie version colors not yet being final back then. Afterall, I would assume the toy division doesn't choose the colors. -
Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.6
Vifam7 replied to Duke Togo's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Quick translation - In accordance with the movie image, the main color of the body is now white with a shade of blue-gray. The red is subdued and the color of the joints are now metallic colored instead of gray. The armor parts will be colored light gray.
