That's a good price. Even at MSRP, it's cheaper than the VF-19kai but with Amiami's 26% off discount, it's a pretty darn good deal.
-
One additional note. I have a feeling that model is very tail heavy. You might have to put some ballast in the nose.

I'm venturing a guess but the landing gears from a 1/72 WW2 P-39 Airacobra might work. Maybe also that of a 1/72 F-84 Thunderjet... I'd say to look at airplanes that have low or mid-mounted wings, tall nose gears, and those that have the covers attached to the main landing gears.

Haven't we been through this before? Those who want to replace or file down the pins can. If they don't want to that's fine too.

What Current Anime Series Are You Watching? v2.0
Vifam7 replied to Duke Togo's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
MariaHolic is lots of fun. MariaHolic is not really yuri though. It's more like a parody or comedy of the yuri at school setup like that of Maria-sama ga Miteru. In fact it kinda pokes fun at the whole concept. -
Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002
Vifam7 replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
If you want pre-built Gundam toys there aren't many choices available. Of what's available, I'd recommend the following lines - 1. Gundam Fix Figuration Metal Composite - These are generally in 1:100 scale and feature the use of diecast metal in key locations. They are expensive but exceptionally well made. However, variety is very limited and seems to concentrate on UC Era mecha. 2. Gundam Fix Figuration Next Generation - This is new line that just started. Basically a smaller version of the Metal Composite line at 1:144 scale. Again, variety is limited. 3. Super HCM Pro - These are all-plastic toys that are in 1:144 scale. These toys generally have lots of gimmicks like opening hatches and whatnot. Articulation is superb and although it is all plastic, they do seem to hold up well. 4. Robot Damashii - Another new line but this one seems to be lots of support and faster releases. However, these toys are not set to any scale size. Very articulated. Not sure about durability. Gundam is generally supported more by model kits than toys. If you're not absolutely adverse to building kits, you might want to try a few. Most Gundam kits are pretty easy to build as they are snap-together kits. All you need is a pair of nippers, a hobby knife, a panel-lining pen, and a bit of time.- 6025 replies

Better posability but still suffers from the usual GFF problem of parts falling off.- 6025 replies

If Amazon is no good, try DVDPlanet or DVD Pacific. I've heard these 2 retailers ship internationally. I've used DVDPlanet before domestically and they are reliable.- 3606 replies

It's probably hard to find it as a download since it was released on DVD. The U.S. release DVDs should be easy to find and relatively cheap. But I guess in your case, it's hard to find a seller that'll ship it to Europe? Amazon should have it though and I think they ship to Europe... As for Galaxy Express 999, i highly recommend it as well. However, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to watch the movies before the TV series. I'm not sure if they are composed as well as say DYRL or the First Gundam movies. Eek! You're going to buy the expensive Japanese DVDs for Haruhi Season 2? I think I'll wait for the eventual US release.- 3606 replies

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.6
Vifam7 replied to Duke Togo's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
In case this wasn't posted yet. CF version is planned for June release. Unfortunately it's a Tamashii web special. A stand for the DX series is in the works. Discussion about the VF Hi-Metal should go to the VF100s thread. -

Actually they've done pre-colored molded plastic before. With the GFFMC Zeta Plus - a transforming toy. Ironically, they got bashed for going "cheap" and not giving it a full paint job. -

Let us know your thoughts when you get further in! I would agree with you that the First Gundam movies are a masterpiece. It's not surprising that it was where the whole Gundam fandom/franchise exploded from. By the way, are you watching the movies with the original soundtrack or revised soundtrack? There are huge differences in terms of sound effects and music placement. Also, all the voices have been re-dubbed in the revised version. The one with the revised soundtrack is often called the "Special Edition" version and is so titled on the DVD covers. How to also tell? If the audio is monoaural, it's the original. If it's in 5.1 surround, it's the special edition. Most of the longtime Gundam fans prefer the original soundtrack. Newer fans seem to prefer the new revised track. Not that it's wrong to like one version or the other. Just wondering which version you had.- 3606 replies

The Macross Quarter. DX Chogokin
Vifam7 replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
A lot of the color issues seems to be exacerbated by the flash during photography. If one looks at Jenius' video review which seems to use ambient light, you'll see that it isn't really baby blue. -
What color should I paint my VF-19kai? I'm now up to the stage of painting my Bandai 1/100 Fire Valkyrie. The thing is, I'm not sure if I want to paint it in the standard red Fire Valk colors. I never really liked the mix of red and yellow. I think I want to keep the two-tone color look, but not use red and yellow together. Any suggestions/ideas in what colors I could use?

It certainly looks better with the guns tucked away. But, all the lineart pictures I've seen of the Tomahawk has the guns stuck out look. Even Yamato's toy has it this way. Admittedly I'm not a big fan of the Tomahawk but I'm not understanding all the complaints on this model.

The author didn't say he had a loose crotch. Only that he thinks it could be better designed. -

Gloss White or Flat White for VF-1-Which Do you Prefer?
Vifam7 replied to modcineaste's topic in Model kits
I prefer using grey for fighter aircraft. I went with Tamiya AS-16 + clear flat for my first ever completed VF-1. Tamiya says AS-16 is USAF light grey 1960's to 1970's era. I liked the color it gave. May not be correct or accurate but the end result looked rather right to my eyes. -
The only problem with building models in the winter is that spray painting becomes a bit difficult when you don't have a dedicated painting booth.

I forget, did they do any missile firing tests with the YF-23?

Fantastic choices F-ZeroOne! The 1980's were filled with fantastic anime songs. Especially for robot anime. Anime theme songs have been more miss than hit for me lately. I must be getting old.
