Perhaps it's because they have a ton of stuff that's in their schedule. Chances are they just can't insert new production or distribution on a whim. They make a certain set of Macross toys and move onto other toys. If the sales are good, then chances are another release is scheduled in. When that'll be probably depends on a lot of factors. To be fair, this seems to be the norm with many toys these days. If you don't buy it while it's in stock, you could be waiting for a long time for a re-release no matter how popular the product. For example, the K-On figmas always sold out fast and it always seemed to take awhile for another re-release. I mean, try finding a Akiyama Mio figma right now without overpaying! Cool! Definitely a unique sound. Kinda reminds me of my most memorable experience with an aircraft. A Concorde rumbling by on take-off just a few hundred feet away while I was on the tarmac at JFK airport.

The Yamato 1/60 & 1/48 Valkyries - Never. They are too expensive for me to risk. Knowing my luck and liklihood of making a mistake during the transformation, no way I'm taking a chance. Besides, I only really care about fighter mode anyways. I really wish someone would come out with a new line of fighter mode only toys in one of the established aircraft modelling scales (1/48, 1/72, 1/144).

I'm going to be the lone guy here and say that my favorite Macross toy is the Doyusha 1/144 YF-21. I love it when I can line it up like this.

VF-1 vers 3.0 coming soon? At this point I think it would make more sense for Yamato or Bandai to go with non-transformable fighter-mode only toys in 1:72 scale. Fighter mode is the most popular mode for Valkyries and sticking to one mode only would result a faster development time and less expensive toy. To give one an example, a MRC Easy Model (a line of pre-built 1/72 plastic display models) F-15 Eagle costs about US$40 MSRP. How about a Yamato 1/72 fighter mode only VF-1 at that price?

If Bandai is truly done with the VF Hi-Metal line, then perhaps it's time for Yamato to fill in the void. I'd like to believe that there's still a market for smaller sized (and less expensive) Macross toys.

I'm not sure how hard it is for you to buy stuff online but respirators are easily found on sites like Amazon and Ebay.

What's a decent price to pay for a Yamato 1/12? It's no longer available from the regular retailers so I gotta go to Ebay or YJ auctions. I regret not getting one when they were available.

When it comes to toys or models of fictional mecha, personally I feel that lineart or screen accuracy does not matter as much as how "right" it looks to you. I have no issues with the form or details on the Yamato toys. However, I dropped buying Yamato (and now also Bandai) Macross toys mainly due to the scale size used (high cost and non-interest in the transforming gimmick are other reasons). So despite my mediocre modeling skills and lengthy delays in getting it completed, my choice is Hasegawa. I also do like the fact that the Hasegawa Valkyrie is more aircraft-like. Speaking of my Hasegawa build, here's where I'm still at...

OH, my mistake. I thought they were going to completely redo the movie. How are they going to make the movie 3D when it wasn't filmed in 3D to begin with?

Not using real life aircraft = TOTAL FAILURE I'd rather see real-life Super Hornets on film than computer generated Tomcats.

Bandai offered 2 versions of the Dragonar-1. One was an representation of the Dragonar from first OP of the anime. Japanese fans sometimes call this "Barigunar" because Masami Obari did the OP animation. Bandai released the toy of this version as "XS-05 Dragonar 1 from Opening Silhouette". The other version Bandai offered was pretty much the same as what one saw in the lineart and main body of the show. This was released as "XS-06 Dragonar 1 with Cavalier" The Max Factory version is closer to the lineart/main show Dragonar 1, but comes with a stylized sculpt that I think I've seen once before as artwork or pro-made kit in a magazine.

Bandai's SPEC Opening Silhouette Dragonar is next to perfection. It's better than the MAX Factory release IMHO. Absolutely solid (nothing fiddly or floppy) with excellent use of diecast, and not a paint flaw in sight. Much cheaper too. No need for Yamato to make one IMO.

I can't begin to tell you the excitement I had when I saw all 3 volumes of US Renditions' Gunbuster and Dangaioh tapes at Suncoast, way back around 1991. I believe it was like $40 per tape. I purchased the Gunbuster tapes. I still have them.

If you're going to regularly transform this model, I would suggest that you NOT use the waterslide decals. Use instead the stickers (they are well made IMO). If you use the decals, you risk scratching them during transformation. I spray Tamiya TS-80 clear flat coat or Testor's Dullcote on all my models.
