  1. In short - Kawamori felt that the canopy should be a more realistic color so he opted for purple to contrast the yellow highlights and called for the change at the last minute.
  2. The site's been updated. Basically says they'll continually update the site with development progress on this kit.
  3. Considering that the old Takara kits are super expensive at auction and extremely hard to find, I welcome these Wave WHAM releases. I've already put my order in at Amiami.
  4. Not even the swing wings? I don't think even Hasegawa omits that element even though most modelers simply lock them into one position.
  5. It's not a very good looking stance though. Rather than nose down, it ought to sit more neutral like the sideview from Kawamori's Musashiya kit line art.
  6. I'm on board just for the fact that it's in 1/72 scale. Bandai's pre-colored snapfit kit engineering is a blessing for some of us less skilled builders. The VF-1 deserves to have a MG level 1/72 scale kit and hopefully it'll lead to more Valkyrie kits from Bandai.
  7. This is one of my favorites. Haneda Kentaro's music is one of many reasons why I consider DYRL to be a masterpiece.
  8. Last I heard, Bandai neither confirmed nor denied a PG Unicorn. However it was understood that a light up gimmick would be expected.
  9. Many of us have differing priorities. For some, principle comes ahead of desire. In my case, there's too many other things I'd rather get for that amount of money. I have a lot of hobbies and Macross toys aren't always at the top of the list. ;
  10. I'm interested, sign me up!
  11. It looks like the Air Force and LockMart knew about the Raptor's life support system issue 12 years ago, but decided to pinch pennies... http://abcnews.go.co...ory?id=16957535
  12. It's not completely implausible. Throughout history, guerilla warfare (often conducted by armed civilians) have put a lot of hurt on occupation armies. The T-72 and ZSU-23-4 also looked pretty good.
  13. Perhaps they've also forgotten about Vietnam... That said, this remake movie is likely to be terrible. Besides, who the heck wants to watch a movie like this today? North Koreans invade the United States? Yeah right! It wouldn't even work if the bad guys were China. The original movie worked because of the era it was made in. Today's geo-political setting just doesn't work.
  14. You're not missing much by not getting the First Press edition (only a cover sleeve). But if you must have the First Press edition, CDJapan has one left.
  15. Probably would've been money and time better spent than hiring Kawamori, making those dumb edits, and producing a lame ass game. IMHO
  16. I think I got one of the better film strips. Hard to get the thing off the backing.
  17. Definitely best in terms of accuracy. However, they are expensive and the brand has recently experienced some QC issues. Recommend that you buy from a reputable dealer just in case.
  18. I wouldn't automatically skip Farewell (or Saraba Uchuu Senkan Yamato) if I were you. Keith might hate it but it is highly regarded by many Yamato fans. I think most Japanese fans consider it to be a masterpiece. On the other hand, I recall some folks suggesting that perhaps the theme and tone of the movie does not jive with non-Japanese viewers. It might be worth watching for the intense reaction (either negative or positive) that it delivered.
  19. Briefly looked through my set. The included booklet extras are all very nice. With regards to the edits, I took a look at them... I'll just say that it makes no sense why they made the changes. I wasn't blown away by the remaster but it's still very nice. Probably the best it's ever going to look. Glad I got it. On the other hand, (I know this was mentioned before) what's with the bullcrap window-boxing of Flashback 2012!?
  20. That's why some folks at 2ch call them 糞ニー
  21. After reading portions of the thread, it seems the issue may be player dependent. Reminds me of the time when some folks had trouble with the first DVD release.
  22. It was rather interesting on how Yamato worded their statement. They wrote: "we're not doing the Flashback 2012 VF-4, we're doing the VF-X game VF-4, the one which transforms".
  23. Thanks for writing this. It makes a lot of sense. I also remember reading that a number of Chinese toy making factories recently closed down. I'm sure that hasn't helped.
  24. I never keep the boxes. Once the kits inside are built, the boxes alone are worthless. The only value of the boxes (IMHO) are if you don't build the kits and end up selling them. If you really like the art on the boxes, just buy the artbooks (IMHO).
  25. Times have changed and tastes have changed among the fans. But also, anime has gotten so easy to acquire that it's difficult to figure out what's out there and know what to filter out amongst the dozens of anime that come out every season. The series are also running in shorter lengths so the turnaround is really fast. So unless you're "tuned in", it's hard to keep up with the scene. It was much easier in the past when all you had or could get was a couple of titles. Plus I suspect most of us are much busier these days. Thus there's no time to check out the new stuff and we gravitate towards what we're already familiar with or comfortable with. At least, that's where I am to some extent.
