  1. The wheels are definitely too small. Then again, I think the main wheels on the Hasegawa are a bit too small as well. Easily fixed though.
  2. Next month's issue will have the test shot.
  3. I recall Mamoru Oshii saying (I think in a commentary track somewhere) that the opening animation was created separately by a different director. The OP song (Miraiha Lovers) is one of all time favorites. The OP with Condition Green is used in the last few episodes of the TV series and in the first couple of episodes in the 2nd OAV series. The "Early Days" OAV series is noted for having the AXIA cassette tape commercial. Kinda shows the age
  4. Katsucon 5 from 1999 has a Mikimoto cover. That year, Mikimoto was a guest. Unfortunately, Katsucon went cheap with the program book that year. I think the cover is from the Sega Saturn QuoVadis game. Kinda looks Macross-ish doesn't it?
  5. I was cleaning out my closet and came upon a box full of old anime con program guides (all of them east coast 1990's Otakon and Katsucon related). Is there any value to these old anime con program books? I don't care much about the monetary value. I'm just wondering if there are anime fans out there who would want them for some reason.
  6. Check out fellow forum member Shaorin's pics which has the 1/60v2 Yamato next to the 1/72 HCM. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=29427&p=897430 1/72 scale means it'll be in scale with the aircraft models out there.
  7. I think the Yamato VF-11B at around $150 was my most expensive Macross toy. The most expensive anime toy purchase was the Fewture Gatchaman sets. I think it was around $600 for both sets. The most expensive non-anime toy purchase will be the upcoming re-release of Bandai's Otona no Chogokin Apollo 11/Saturn V set. That is if I keep my pre-order at HLJ...
  8. Anyone who has flipped throught this 1980's book will see where Kawamori might have gotten some ideas for his Valkyrie fighter jet designs. http://www.amazon.com/Illustrated-Future-Fighters-Combat-Aircraft/dp/0668060654 Here's a BAe idea from 1978.
  9. Perhaps it's due to some unfamiliarity with Bandai's model kits. However, if you've built a number of Bandai master grade kits before, then I think you know what you're going to get.
  10. Have only watched Girls und Panzer this year. Need to watch the last 2 episodes though.
  11. No, the landing gears are not removable. They were removable on the VF-1s but not on the VF-19 or the YF-21. Since they don't come with any kind of stand, it kinda doesn't make sense to have them removable.
  12. The UN Spacy insignia decal on the Hasegawa set was annoying too. I don't know why the kite and the red background are two separate pieces.
  13. I'm going to predict a release date pushback. BTW the both the Valk and strike pack kit is now available for pre-order at HLJ.
  14. The Bandai Hobby site has been updated as well. http://bandai-hobby.net/site/character_macross.html Checkout the nicely detailed pilot. Also, lots of good detail on the chest and foot thrusters. From what I can infer from the text, the strike pack design isn't yet finalized. Looks like they haven't really started work on the actual design as they're waiting for the main Valk's form to be finalized.
  15. I think that's the first time I've ever seen Seed Destiny ranked at the very top. Most of time I see it at the very bottom. Different strokes for different folks indeed.
  16. I'm looking forward to see what I can mix and match between this kit, the Imai, and the Hasegawa.
  17. Use of a more common scale size (like 1/72) and more tampo print markings. That's about it.
  18. Those great sales may have been an indication that Yamato's Macross toys weren't selling all that great despite enthusiasm on blogs and discussion boards. If it's true that Yamato went bankrupt then I doubt a new licensee will try to emulate Yamato (ie. probably try a different sales strategy or product type). And since most of us have a good number of Yamato Macross toys, is there any interest in a different new line of Macross toys? I think what most of us want is a continuation of Yamato just with a different name. To be optimistic, it's still possible that Arcadia will take over where Yamato left off. While Yamato's physical assets like toolings can be easily transferred to Arcadia, things like license agreements are a bit more difficult and take more time. It's possible that Arcadia and Big West are negotiating the terms and thus the reason why there has been no concrete news from Arcadia.
  19. The problem is that's never been done before and any new redo of a past anime work always gets some kind of change. And they did that redo in 1984. DYRL is the masterpiece version of SDFM.
  20. I think you're just coming in from the wrong angle. If you go into this show expecting it to be an action packed or drama & emotion filled robot anime (a la Macross or Gundam), I wouldn't be surprised if you find it boring. Patlabor is more of a slice-of-life police drama than it is a "robot combat" anime.
  21. Fighter mode. As a military aircraft aficionado, it's the first thing that drew me into Macross.
  22. I would agree that Yamato does not owe us an explanation. But Yamato's Macross products have a dedicated and loyal following so it's understandable for some folks to be a bit antsy when the information is scant and the future looks unclear. In anycase, I'm sure we'll all eventually find out something more over the next weeks or months ahead.
  23. The Lamborghini is way too busy looking for me. Is it me or does the front shape of the Veneno look a bit like the Asurada GSX?
  24. I'm actually surprised that there has not been any word from Yamato. By now one would think that someone from Yamato would confirm, deny, or say something ambiguous like "we're working things out". If they are going out, I would think something like a "thank you for your support all these years, see you at Arcadia" message would be posted before website closure.
