Disagree. It's better that Japan does not get itself involved in stupid foreign conflicts. Saves money and lives. Use the money and brains to create an awesome fighter jet. That's as far as i'm going with the political thing. Back in the 1980's when the FS-X program was in its early stages (ie. before the US government got involved), this was one of the concept designs being floated around.

The perfect transformation VF-1 toy has been done to death. If Bandai wants to do yet another VF-1, I believe they should do a non-transforming 1/72 scale fighter mode diecast model (with all of the markings tampo printed on). That's at least something different that hasn't been done before.

Any added on Yamato stickers or Hasegawa water slide decals?

Books Nippan/U.S. Renditions - A Blast from the Past
Vifam7 replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Fond memories indeed. I remember going to the Yaohan around Christmas time back in (I think) 1990. Don't remember what store it was, but I remember one of them having the DYRL Perfect Edition VHS tape and LD set sitting on the shelf. The Pony Toys had the 1/55 Bandai Hi-Metal. All of them priced way beyond my reach at the time. But I did have just enough money to buy Mari Iijima's Merry Christmas Melody CD album. And yes, I used to order from Nikaku Animart as well. Up until about 1999-ish. Loved getting their paper catalogues. US Renditions' 3 volume Gunbuster release (w' white clamshell cases) was the first anime I ever purchased with my own hard earned money. I still have them. They sit right next to my Blu-ray discs.- 33 replies

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Vifam7 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've watched 3 episodes worth of Stella Women's Academy. It's not terrible, but so far it's not all that engaging (IMO). I'll continue watching to see where this series goes. -
18 of the two-seat F-2Bs were damaged. Initially, only 6 were considered repairable. However, the defense minister earlier this year said, he's planning to add 7 more to the repair list.

You should just give them simple answers. Never ever get detailed or talk at length on the subject. It should never progress beyond a few seconds of small talk. I wouldn't hire any contractor who won't keep the discussion to the work at hand.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Vifam7 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
2nd season isn't worth the purchase IMHO. Eight episodes of the "Endless Eight" arc ruined it for me. I stopped watching the Suzumiya Haruhi anime after that BS. Decided to the read the novels instead. -
What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0

Well, Kimi no Iru Machi was written by the same author as Suzuka so I'm not surprised. Definitely not my cup of tea so I'm not watching it. Girls und Panzer in nihongo also sounded hentai as it sounded close to Girls and Pantsu (panties). Surprisingly, there wasn't a panty shot to be seen despite all of the girls wearing miniskirts. The focus was definitely on the tanks. For me, Girls und Panzer was one of the best animes I've watched in recent years. Stella Women's Academy is next on my list to watch. -
Awesome. Now I'm interested in this release.

It's really a damn shame that the Hi-Metal line failed. It pretty much ends any possibility of smaller sized Macross toys for the foreseeable future. On a brighter note, I suppose these Hi-Metals could become highly collectable in the future.

My latest acquisition

Considering that the Hi-Metal VF-1 is brilliantly engineered (IMHO), I personally wonder why Bandai didn't simply size up the Hi-Metal to 1/72 scale and release it in kit form.

Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann
Vifam7 replied to Vi-RS's topic in Model kits
That's a good point. I'd like to believe that Macross fandom is large enough to support gunpla style kits like this, traditional Hasegawa style kits, and completed toys (DX Chogokin & Yamato) as I like to dabble across the lines. -
Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann

The hate is probably more about being so accustomed to the Yamato or Hasegawa sculpts that they just can't accept a new interpretation (even if it is one that was worked on and signed off by Kawamori). That or just plain Bandai hate. -
My wish - Non-transforming fighter mode only Valkyries in 1/72 or 1/100 scale. With a price point under US$100. And perhaps made of diecast metal. Oops, that's 3 wishes.

Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann

It really isn't about accuracy. It's simply a one of those subjective viewpoint things. -
Itself. Top Gun 2 will be about Maverick trying to understand how the development of the F-35 went wrong.

Or maybe this is how Kawamori wants it to be. -

There was a time when one 40 minute episode of Bubblegum Crisis on VHS tape from AnimEigo cost US$40. The market tends to dictate the cost. Even though there are more American anime fans today than there were back in the 90's, it appears that many today simply don't buy the DVDs. You can partly blame the pirates for why the prices have jumped up. -
Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann
Vifam7 replied to Vi-RS's topic in Model kits
If you know anything about Master Grade Gundam models and their popularity, I think you would understand. Not everybody subscribes to building models the old fashioned way as with Hasegawa kits. And not everybody is a fan of the DX Chogokins or Yamato toys. More Macross products is always a good thing IMO. -

You can have mine from the Hikaru kit. Maybe the Fokker kit will come with Claudia...
