Discontinued just here in the US or all over the world? There was one time where I purchased a 6-pack of Mr. Hobby Topcoat on Ebay and had it shipped all the way from Hong Kong via seafreight. It took weeks to arrive but it got here.
-
I didn't know it was discontinued. I had no problems getting a few cans of TS-80 earlier this year at my local hobby store. Maybe I got the last ones? If Tamiya's TS-80 is discontinued, then that would be majorly disappointing. It would mean I'd have to resort to using Testors Dullcote from now on.

QFT. I'm near finishing my VF-1 but the decals have gotten me frustrated to the point where I'm not sure if I want to finish the dang thing.

Tamiya TS-80 Clear Flat is still available. Sometimes they just go out of stock at retailers because the distribution seems to be irregular. But, at least here in the states, Tamiya's TS-80 is much easier to acquire than Mr. Hobby's Top Coat Flat. Mr. Hobby's Top Coat Flat is acrylic based so I prefer it more than than Tamiya's TS-80 which is lacquer based. Mr. Hobby's Top Coat shouldn't cost more than $10 but I guess I'd pay $15 if necessary.

Man of Steel - Superman movie has a director
Vifam7 replied to Mr March's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Pretty much agree. Although to be fair, I thought the first half of the movie (particularly the story of Clark Kent from boy to man) was very well done. IMO, it's a bit of a shame that what was well set up in the first half (Clark Kent's journey, Jor-el's message to him, he as a symbol of hope) was kinda lost once the fighting began. And frankly I thought the fighting was boring. No tension or drama, just lots of flashy effects and destruction that went on and on and on. I had no problems with Superman killing General Zod. However, the final act of him snapping the neck felt rather lame after all the fighting and destruction that went on beforehand. I mean, it was Superman taking out the big bad superpowered boss. I was expecting something more grandiose (or more original, perhaps even clever like in Superman II) not something I've seen before in a Steven Seagal movie.- 442 replies

Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002
Vifam7 replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It's do-able. The 1/144 scale Super HCM Pro RX-78 has a good number of opening hatches plus a transforming Core Fighter Block and yet it's solid and very articulated. In fact this looks a bit like an upscaled and up-detailed Super HCM to me.- 6025 replies

If I remember reading Mr.K's Twitter answer correctly, he said to the nature of "It's a property they shouldn't go into, though not totally so. They could look into it sometime".

spray booth Finally Found a Proper Spray Booth...and now I have some questions
Vifam7 replied to GU-11's topic in The Workshop!
Let us know how your new spray booth works out when you actually start using it. If it can do a good job of sucking out Tamiya lacquer sprays, then I might get one myself. -
I've never really been impressed with AnimEigo's disc authoring quality or their packaging. And they also want to recut the music videos? Eek... I'll hope for the best. That said, $50 isn't that much money to pledge and get the disc. I'm in.

How does the Robot Damashii MkII compare to the old High Complete Model MkII?
-
Although the basic set should suffice, there is also a marker set specific to 00. For panel-lining I use Gundam marker GM02 or a .5mm mechanical pencil. Always always spray clear flat on your Gundam models. Makes them look 1000% better. I've used Testors' Dullcote, Tamiya's TS-80, Gunze's Mr. Hobby Top Coat. They all work just fine.

Scaling it to 1/72. It's time we got a new Valkyrie toy in the most popular aircraft modeling scale (next to 1/48).
-
If that pilot is true to scale, then that looks to be a very tight cockpit (like Spitfire or MiG-21 tight) despite the all glass canopy. That or a really fat pilot.... Kakizaki or Jek Porkins? Not sure if I like the main landing gears. Looks a bit toy-ish. Better than the Bandai legs but a bit underwhelming for a Hase. Oh well, there's always the option of using F-14 Tomcat legs That said, the underwing ordnance is awesome. Will have to get one just for that.

SamuelDecal seems to be quite popular with Gundam kit builders. You might also want to ask fellow MW members in the Wanted section if they have any sheets to spare. I think I have a Ozma sheet I can give you.
-
What's needed in this show is perhaps stories with more heavier referencing or linking to the "big guys" (Capt. America, Thor, Hulk, etc.) of the movies. Maybe even start hinting at what the heroes will encounter in the upcoming movies...

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Vifam7 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It really depends on whether you want to start with the original "Universal Century" (UC) series or start with the various "alternate universe" series. If you're going with the UC series timeline, then starting with the Gundam movies trilogy is the correct move. If you want to take the short short route, you can go - Movies Trilogy Zeta Gundam TV series Char's Counterattack movie These 3 titles are generally considered the core of the UC story. Mainly because Amuro Ray and/or Char Aznable are the key/central figures. Technically, Double Zeta should be part of the core but since it isn't very highly regarded and doesn't have Amuro or Char, it's somtimes considered as a 'you can ignore it' series. You can fill in the sequels and side stories such as 0080 War in the Pocket, 0083 Stardust Memory, 08 MS Team, F91, MS Igloo, Unicorn and such later on I would highly recommend watching 0080 War in the Pocket though as I think it's one of the more poignant Gundam stories. As for the alternate timeline series, personally I would skip them until you really want more Gundam to watch. Though if you want to start with an alternate timeline series, I guess Wing would be the one to start with as it's very popular. -

Look for the Kantai Collection [aka. "Kankore"] anime sometime in 2014. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kantai_Collection Btw, I loved Girls und Panzer. Probably ranks in as one of my top 10 favorite animes. -
And besides, the wonky C-17 is nothing compared to the flying aircraft carrier that was in the movie.

Clannad is a prime example of the bishoujo game sub-genre "nakige" (ie. make you cry game). So yes, you could say the story is intentionally designed to make you cry. -
The "Real" Giant Robots... by Fred Patten
Vifam7 replied to Gubaba's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Dai-guard is probably borderline as a "real robot" anime. -
I have the Hasegawa kits too. The thing is, it takes me a lot of time to build them. Sometimes I just want to slap a kit a together and get it done without having to do so much gluing, sanding, and painting.
-
I might get it just to have Max and Millia. Since I'm locking mine in fighter mode, I won't be bothered much by the faults.
