What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Vifam7 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Is that from the special edition DVD? Or footage from a game? It's definitely a different cut as the music is completely different. The original version looks like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFlsFWfB6KA -
Even moreso when you see how big Fighter 1 and Fighter 2 are with Wave's 1/100 scale models.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Vifam7 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I recommend watching the 0079 movie trilogy. It's pretty much where the whole Gundam franchise begins. When you watch this, I think you'll begin to understand why it was such an influential anime. -
Who says a Japanese company won't make Pacific Rim figures? I can definitely see Kaiyodo releasing them as part of the Revoltech line. The Revoltech line has certainly been focused on Hollywood stuff lately. As for the suggestion that the movie was unpopular in Japan... well if true, I'm quite sure that politics has little or nothing to do with it. I can think of more non-political reasons why the movie wasn't a hit at the theaters. That said, the reviews on Amazon Japan (under the Blu-ray release) are very favorable towards the movie.

From a top down view, the old one does seem to look better in fighter mode. To me, the whole rear section on this new one in fighter mode looks a bit fat. From the photos, it looks wider than the VF-19Kai I have. Dunno, then again it could just be a photo angle perspective thing and it's better than the photos suggest.

The Silhouette, Jalpa, and Urraco didn't have them either.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0

Watched all of Oregairu (My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong as I Expected) over the holiday break. A surprise hit for me and I think one of the better "light novel" based anime series. Cant help but root for Hachiman even though I think some of us wouldn't completely agree with his viewpoint or course of action/inaction. The series is also full of witty dialogue and fantastic quotes that could make one pause and think a bit. -
If Arcadia is to do a Vers3.0 VF-1, then personally, I would hope for a scale change to 1/72. A scale change to 1/72 would give me more reason to buy a Vers3.0 The current Vers2.0 is fine (IMPO) in the 1/60 scale. However, a toy in 1/72 scale is sorely needed as the only alternative in the scale is to build a non-transforming Hasegawa or a unsatisfactory transforming Bandai kit. Or find an ancient HCM. If Bandai is going to do a DX VF-1, then the only way I see any of us getting excited for it is if they size up to say 1/35 scale. That way it would truly be something different and given the size and likely price, it would be just fine to have just a few releases and move on.

That kit has terrible proportions. You'd have to somehow combine it with a HGUC GM kit to make it look decent...

I collect what I want to collect. It's not a matter of quantity or quality. Nor investment value. It's whatever that I fancy or whatever that brings joy to me. Even if it happens to be the crappiest toy ever, if I feel it's going to be fun to have, I'll buy it. I don't restrict myself to any one subject, scale size, manufacturer etc. The only thing that restricts me is my budget and/or desire. And perhaps storage/display space.

Sage's Top 20 Giant Anime Robots
Vifam7 replied to DuelGundam2099's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The problem with lists like these are that most of them fall back on personal likes/dislikes and experiences. However, if one were to objectively think about what giant robots have had the most impact on fandom, the list will likely be shorter and different. -
It's actually not too far-fetched. Several years back, I purchased my Hikaru VF-1A during a 75% off sale at HLJ. Cost was well below US$100. I recall this kind of dump sale happening with Yamato Valkyries a few times at HLJ. Arcadia should probably try to avoid such things from happening.

That's pretty darn big! Hard to choose between this new 1/500 kit, the previous 1/500 kit, and the GX-64 chogokin.

No need to feel that you're not "hardcore" if you believe a product is too expensive. We all have differing priorities. But it does take someone with a different mindset or priority to put down big money to buy a toy. I'm using the term "hardcore" for that definition. It's not to determine someone's worthiness as a collector or Macross fan.
-
To answer the original poster's question - I would opine "Not yet". Hardcore Macross collectors (which many here at MW are) will continue to pay the price if they desire the product. Heck, I'm pretty sure some here will gladly pay up to US$1K for a 1/60 Cutlass or Star Mirage. Afterall, there was a time where folks were paying that much for a Takatoku or Bandai 1/55.
-
The term "FAST pack" is probably adding to the confusion as it's technically not the correct term to be used.

If I'm brush painting, I prefer to use enamel paints. I find them much easier to use due to their self leveling properties and stickier nature. Downside is that they dry slower and are much more difficult to remove if you mess up.
-
The prices suggest they are more for creepy 30-50 year old adult men... I think it's unlikely that Arcadia will expand beyond their current output. Afterall, it's been suggested that Yamato's demise was due to over-release of their Valkyries.
-
What they should've done was take cues from real life JASDF anniversary schemes. Like this one: Arcadia should also consider doing JASDF's blue-on-blue camo scheme for all their Valkyries. JASDF's blue-on-blue camo on their F-2 fighter. This camo scheme is super popular.

I don't know how anyone could call the BRZ/FRS as flamboyant or busy. If anything, I might say they're rather plain and bland or even boring. I personally like the styling though. I'd love to own one as a second car. To my knowledge, there aren't many choices these days if you want a brand new RWD sports car for around US$25K. The Genesis coupe, the Miata, or the BRZ/FRS twins. That's about it I think.

Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002
Vifam7 replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The Robot Damashii Xi Gundam was reportedly close to MG size. The Kshatriya could be similar in size. While it might not be correctly in scale, it might not look all that out of place with the rest of your 1/100 scale models.- 6025 replies

I used the wing section from that Zeta kit to mod my HG Aile Strike. The reason why I did this because I hated the small wings that came with HG Aile Strike kit. I later purchased the RG Aile Strike.

A 2-door CUV with even less utility and less off-road capability than the average CUV, and without Subaru's signature symmetrical AWD system.... Sounds like a bad idea IMHO.

Spanish Buchons (which posed as Me109s) from the Battle of Britain movie? Hopefully it was, at the very least, RAF aircraft...
