I'll get it. Over the years, I've begun to appreciate Macross II more and more. I never got the Japanese DVD set, so it'll be nice to get this Bluray release.

Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann
Vifam7 replied to Vi-RS's topic in Model kits
JET7, Did you use the stickers or the water slide decals? -
Thank you for the detailed explanation of your fix/customization of the fighter mode leg fit! Since my Bandai VF-1 is not yet completed, I just might try your idea.

It's a movie. However, it's going to be a 13 episode series which is going to be broken into 7 theatrical showings. I just hope the acting is half-way decent.

Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann
Vifam7 replied to Vi-RS's topic in Model kits
Personally, I feel that the Bandai 1/100 Hi-Metal has the best proportioned battroid. Better than any of the larger toys and models. As I wrote elsewhere, it's really a darn shame that Bandai didn't simply upscale the Hi-Metal. It would've resulted in a much easier and sturdier transformation system too. -
The kit is actually quite good. It just requires a lot of work in every way. If you don't clean the nubs, test fit the parts, and correct the alignment at every turn, you're going to run into problems. There will be some loose areas even if you build it perfectly though. Just the nature of it being a transforming snap fit kit. Frankly I would recommend to glue down some parts and lock it into the mode you like most.

I experienced that exact same thing with the Wave VF-1S kit. It's worse when you've already used the decals for one area (like the chest on the VF-1) and are forced to use the decal on another (like the leg fin) just to color match! Combine that with crap quality decals (thanks Wave) and you get double frustration.

Reideen does look like he's wearing bell-bottoms and disco platform shoes. All you need now is a disco ball to complete the picture.

Despite the snowstorm, my GX-64 arrived yesterday. Only had a brief look at it but I can tell it's amazing just by looking at the AA batteries. Size-wise it's the same size as the Taito Super Mechanics model.

Can I get a front and rear 3/4 view? 3/4 top down, 3/4 side, and 3/4 bottom up. With the whole ship in frame if possible. One thing I like about the 1/500 kit and GX-64 (basically the 2199 Yamato form) is the shape of the bow and wave motion gun. As well as the mid-section bulge. It just looks right in every way.

I'm like real close to finishing my 1/100 Wave kit. Just a few more decals and some paint touch ups to go. Then a gloss coat to seal the decals. But I'm torn as to what my final clear coat should be. Semi-gloss or flat? Up til now, I've always defaulted to using Tamiya's TS-80 clear flat. But this time, I'm using Gunze's Topcoat. I'm just wondering if Gunze's clear flat is maybe too flat for a Valkyrie (I've never used Gunze's stuff on a Valkyrie). I'd like to hear opinions.

Sounds good to me. I was going to display it next to my Enterprise as well. I'm hoping to find an acrylic display case that can fit the model though.

Aren't these simply MSiA figures reboxed for US release? Or were they something different?- 6025 replies

Probably better not to use ex-Yamato products to guess the price. A VF-0D would likely be an all new tooling by Arcadia and not some mod of the existing Yamato VF-0 toolings. If the YF-19 is any basis, the MSRP price is likely to be around 30,000yen. That's about the limit of what I'd be willing to pay. On a details note, I hope Mr.K eliminates the fanblades at the intake lips detail that was on the Yamato VF-0s

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Vifam7 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Probably an issue with your connection or browser. I've never had issues with Hulu. As for the rest, it's just the way it is. It's nice that some anime is officially available for free but, unless you're paying good money, you really have no right to complain. -

Those ads are the reason why you get to watch things for free or real cheap via streaming. Try turning off your ad blockers and deal with watching ads. Don't know why it's a problem in creating accounts, unless you're a cheapskate or a little boy with no money. Basically, pay up or shut up. -
Which maker is that Space Battleship Yamato model? The stand looks different from any of the recent Bandai kits or chogokins.

Try different brands of paint. I've noticed that Vallejo acrylics are pretty tough. Also try enamel paints. I've found enamel paints to be much tougher than acrylic or lacquer.
