  1. I thought the series with the Clarkson-Hammond-May trio was getting a bit stale with rehashed jokes and uninteresting challenges. I don't know, maybe a new tone and direction will be a good thing. .
  2. Poorly adhering decals (just about every Gundam related waterslide decal ever, in my experience) can be dealt with by using a decal setting/softening solution like Mr. Mark Setter or Mr. Mark Softener. Not using decal setting/softening solution can sometimes result in the decals coming off with the slightest touch even if you have sprayed a clear coat.
  3. What HLJ will do if you do not follow the rules is stated clearly on their website. https://support.hlj.com/hc/en-us/articles/204071220-Per-Customer-Item-Limits Don't be a fool and think you can get away with it. Maybe you might. I wouldn't take the chance if I were you.
  4. A lot of sportscars these days are offered with semi-automatic or dual clutch transmissions, so one can technically have both driving options in one car.
  5. However, in Iron Eagle 2, F-4 Phantoms posed as MiG-29s... which is about as bad as it gets. I believe most of the MiGs seen in Airwolf were F-84 Thunderstreak footage taken from the 1958 movie "The Hunters".
  6. I don't like the sculpt of the Robot Spirit figures. Waaay too skinny at the waist IMO.
  7. Where did the whole black wheels thing begin? Samething with the matte black paint. It seems to be a recent trend among sports cars. Personally, I think black wheels and matte black paint only look good on bicycles.
  8. I've once toured the USS Iowa. One thing you notice about a World War II battleship is the sheer amount of steel and the incredible thickness of the armor (such as on the bridge and turrets). I had the pleasure of touring a modern guided missile destroyer and the USS Iowa on the same day. The difference between the 2 ships was stark.
  9. Can someone explain to me the whole cave scene with Thor? Where is that cave supposed to be and what tie-in does it have with the other movies? I don't remember anything about such a cave from the other Marvel movies. Then again, my memory of the Thor movies are kinda weak. Or is this something we're all supposed to know from the comics?

    Hi-Metal R

Just to note - Golden Week starts today in Japan so retailers might already be on skeleton staff and sites might not be updated until after next week.

Wasn't it reported somewhere that Kawamori was making adjustments to the sculpt?
  12. Quick translation: Go Nagai Museum 6 Year Anniversary item is the Great (Mazinger)!! To celebrate the Go Nagai Museum's 6th Anniversary, a special item has been confirmed for release! A Super Robot Chogokin Great Mazinger in the coloring image of the Jumbo Machinder. Details in the next issue!
  13. From what I see in my Japanese Blu-ray release, the new color is actually close to the anime color. The anime color is purple-ish gray. The older release's black-ish gray is actually waay off - though it looks great. So Bandai is correct in their ad, calling the new colors as being "anime image".

Probably not going to happen. And even if they did, I'll bet that it'll be incompatible with the old release due to mold changes or something.
  15. Agreed. That coloring is exactly what I want to do with my Zeta Plus. With regards to customs, I don't think I have enough imagination to do a full custom. But I did once do a minor custom on my HG Aile Strike (the original release, not the HGCE version) because the Strike pack wings in the kit were dinky small and terrible looking.

    Hi-Metal R

Yeah, it would make more sense to put it under the established Robot Spirits line. Just to note - right after "Hi-Metal R" , there's also the word <ä»®> (which means temporary or provisional) next to it. I don't think they'll change it but I suppose it could.
  17. If you're using panel line marker GM01 or GM02, try using a plastic eraser. Yes, the same eraser normally used to erase out pencil marks. It's what I always use. There is also something called Gundam Marker Eraser (GM300). This is simply lacquer thinner in a pen. Very strong stuff.
  18. I think this can depend on what mobile suits you want to build. The less elaborate the mecha, the easier the work. For example, I find the cannon fodder mecha (like the Jegan, Nemo, & GM) tend to be easier to finish up, whether it's MG or HG level. They tend to be less elaborate than the lead Gundams and thus require less overall work (in terms of painting and detailing). In general, HG kits can have seam lines in places where you don't want them - which means you either live with them or glue-sand-paint. MG kits tend to do better job in hiding those seam lines. Personally I wouldn't go with the Real Grade kits because they tend be finicky with lots of small parts. Also, despite the superb detail, they just don't feel satisfying (to me) when built up - because they tend to feel rather fragile due to the joints and moving parts. They do look great though.

    Hi-Metal R

We'll probably know more at next month's Shizuoka Hobby Show. If there's no news at Shizuoka, Hi-Metal R is likely going to be vaporware.
  20. I have a deep affinity for 80's j-pop idols. Back when girls looked and acted more naturally. Today's AKB-SKE-NMB girls are just way too produced IMHO. A number of those 80's idols were very much connected to anime. It wasn't uncommon for many of those idols to get their break by being a voice-actress or having their songs as the opening/ending themes to an anime series.
  21. It's amazing how persistent and pervasive that myth is, despite what history says.
  22. What's the chance of Megahouse making Gyanko as part of the GGG lineup?
  23. A weakpoint of any such system would likely be the searching/tracking/guidance radars. A reason why stealth could become even more important. Another weakpoint may be the power source. Probably not a problem aboard a ship but may be more difficult to deploy on land. Also, by the time such systems are deployed, countermeasures would also likely be developed.
  24. That was only because the Yamatos were being dumped at 50-75% off MSRP.
  25. I've never seen acrylic paint in a spraycan. It's usually lacquer or enamel. Tamiya is lacquer and Testors/Model Master is enamel. I've never used Krylon so I don't know its composition. Personally I like using Tamiya's lacquer sprays as they are very fast drying and grab onto bare plastic. Enamels stick well to plastic but generally take a very long time to dry. Acrylic paints generally don't stick well to bare plastic, so priming is recommended when using acrylics. Which clear coat to use depends on what paint type you're laying the clear coat on. The general rule is not to spray a stronger paint type on top of weaker paint. Basically : lacquer > enamel > acrylic.
