Macross Δ (Delta) - NYE Special Talkback - READ 1st POST
Vifam7 replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I really wish Satelight would quit the whole CG-ified look for the mecha. It just looks cheap. I wasn't really impressed with the Valkyrie combat scenes too. Things were moving so fast, I could barely tell what's happening. On the positive side, I already like Freyja, Mirage, and Hayate as characters. -
Yes, Hobby Master has released several RAAF F-111s in 1/72 scale. Wow, talk about a thread coming back from the dead!

Started building my kit. Decided to change the way the eyes are done. Instead of putting the eye stickers behind the clear lens, I think it looks better when it's directly on the lens. This way, the eyes don't look like they're sunken in.

Where did you get the price and the results of the poll? I don't see it anywhere on the Tamashii site.

See Golden Arms reply below. When using waterslide decals, I also recommend using decal softener. Once you have a decal positioned, apply some decal softener and let it dry. Decal softener helps the decal stick onto the surface. If you don't use decal softener, there's good chance of the decal coming off even after a clearcoat.

Was Kawamori actually working on refinements to the sculpt or was it about something else when those pics were taken?

Does somewhat unrealistic mecha controls ruin the fun for you?
Vifam7 replied to JLYC's topic in Movies and TV Series
Actually sometimes you see them, sometimes you don't. It differs depending on the series. In First Gundam, you clearly see Amuro wearing a belt. From Zeta onwards, it was assumed that wearing a "normal suit" will clip the pilot into the seat via the suit's backpack. -
We shouldn't put too much on initial prototypes. If past & current Tomytec Gimix kits are anything to go by (see my F-4 Phantom at the top of this thread), these should be far superior to the Charaworks.

Shammy vs Ranka. Which one is more moe~?

I checked my own and now understand what has happened. Mine is fine. I take back what I wrote previously. What happened to yours is that the tampo print guy got the top and bottom, left and right mixed up. Basically, he incorrectly printed the stripe on the bottom side of the left wing. So what you really have is two left wings. That's why it works correctly on the left side of your toy but not on the right side. Here's my left and right wings (topside) Here's the bottom side

Looks like someone gauged out the section when the plastic was still hot off the mould...resulting in the paint app issue. How does it look attached to the toy in fighter mode? It's close enough inboard so you might not notice it too much even with the wings spread out? If you purchased it at HLJ, maybe you could get a replacement wing?

I recently realized that I did not have Miss D.J. or Harukanaru Omoi in my Macross soundtracks collection... it never occurred to me that I didn't have them and that I should have them... until now. Went to Amazon Japan and purchased them last week. Miss D.J. is worth it just for Shammy's UN Spacy enlistment song.

The VF-1 Valkyries have not been released yet. F-15s, F-4 Phantoms, Mitsubishi F-2s, and other real life aircraft have been released in the Gimix lineup. These are not completed toys or cheap gashapons. These are kits you have to put together with a bit of glue (though relatively easy to put together). And these kits are not cheap. The average fighter jet kit runs around 3300 to 3800 yen. However, it does come pre-painted with almost all markings tampo printed, and loads of accessories.

I think the Tomytec Gimix line might be just the thing for you guys. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=43003 It's certainly something I'm excited about.
-
Oh yeah, I forgot about them.
-
That was a model kit, not a DX level toy. I always find it a bit disappointing that there are no completed toys in 1/72 scale other than the ancient High Complete Models. With plenty of Arcadia and ex-Yamato 1/60 toys still out there and likely to be re-released, chances are we'll never see Valkyrie toys in 1/72 scale.
-
Unlikely that it'll be transformable. If I had to guess, probably a 2+1 kit (ie. a separate battroid kit and fighter kit in one box with the option to make gerwalk mode by combining the battroid and fighter parts).
-
Yes, the extra tip is included to switch between Super and Strike.
-
Despite all the DX toys they've released, the extensive lineup planned for the HMR series, and their sponsorship of Macross Delta? SMH
-
No worse than it took for the Eurofighter Typhoon to reach service.

Lamborghinis today are just Audis with Lamborghini styling.

So glad to not see a fart can on a 240SX. Actually I don't want to see them on any car to be honest.

The hands are no different from that on the GBP release. The open hand is actually a tad bit big looking. But the above photos are exaggerating it a bit due to poor photography. Also, keep in mind that there are 2 different gungrips. One is the integrated hand version (whose hand is smaller) and the other is the slightly bigger "detail up " version. You'll see what I mean from the Shishioh GBP review here (http://shishioh.info/HI-METAL_R_VF-1J_ARMORED_VALKYRIE.php) Shishioh attached the Strike packs from the old VF-1S Hi Metal in his review.

Gundam Show Thread - MSG thru Witch from Mercury
Vifam7 replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I recommend starting with the 0079 Gundam Movies Trilogy. You don't need to see the original 0079 TV series. The movies trilogy does a good job of getting to the point and it's well animated for its time. 3 movies is also not too difficult to commit to. With most other Gundam series either stemming from or influenced by what the original establishes, it's a good place to start.- 3606 replies
