Valkyrie Development History from Hobby Handbook
Mr March replied to Aurel Tristen's topic in Movies and TV Series
Not at all. The VF-1 is remarkably light even for a non-transformable jet fighter. The VF-1's normal take-off mass is 18.5 tons. By way of comparison an F-14 Tomcat has a TO mass of 26.55 tons while an F/A-18 Hornet has a TO mass of 15.23 tons. Considering the VF-1 has much more powerful engines, more computer systems, and variable hardware, it's astounding how the UN Spacy was able to design such a versatile yet light-weight variable fighter. -
I'm fairly alarmed here

Valkyrie Development History from Hobby Handbook
Mr March replied to Aurel Tristen's topic in Movies and TV Series
Interesting albiet difficult reading. Thanks WJ (or should I say Nanashi?) -
Hello there new Macross member The Bandai 1/55 Valkyries were fine toys for their time and do still hold some advantages over the best of the new Valkyrie toy lines. They are easy to use, transform quickly, and are durable. Personally, I liked the 1/55s, but I sure am glad something way better came along. For me I enjoy the detail, articulation, superior design, and over all aesthetic of the Yamato 1/48 Valkyrie. It's just a better mousetrap

Macross Zero is a prequel series set one year before Space War One in the original series Super Dimension Fortress Macross. The Macross Zero series is planned to be an OVA (Original Video Animation) that is 5 episodes when finished. Currently, episodes one and two have been released on DVD. Episode three should come out soon. So far, Macross Zero is great. While I was very apprehensive about the use of CGI in Macross Zero (which has a hit/miss history with anime), I am thrilled with the very entertaining results. The story itself is building very nicely, I'm enjoying the characters, and the new technical revelations about the universe of Macross are very exciting. I'd definitely recommend watching this series. A big warm welcome to ya

Thank you very much for a clear interpretation...finally. So the original Macross will never be available for distribution outside Japan because Tatsunoko has legal ownership of the Television Series due to their financial involvment. However, the rest of the Macross franchise belongs to Big West, since Studio Nue has legal ownership of the character/mecha designs and because Tatsunoko had nothing to do with 99% of the rest of the franchise. So does this mean there will never be a dubbed version of the Macross tv series? Does this mean that DYRL? is still a possibility, since that's oiuytside the "tv series" ownership? Does this mean the rest of the Macross franchise is free and clear for international distribution? Just trying to clarify.

I'm not really interested in seeing this film. Unfortunately, one of my friends is a Tarantino sheep and guess who will need to drive him and join him at the theatre? -
Yamato, please include those hands in an updated FAST Pack set...please!

Alien vs. Predator Movie Next August
Mr March replied to glane21's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Maybe it's my age talking, or maybe I'm too desensitised by video games, but I don't really get worked up about stuff like this anymore. Sure, I can enjoy by a good "shoot 'em up" film, but I'd get much more excited about something with a good story too. The simple prospect of Aliens and Predators opening a can 'o' whoop ass on each other really does nothing for me without some kind of story context. If the two species beating on each other was all the fans wanted to see, then I could probably entertain them with a little AvP puppet show. It's not a sign of age. It's a sign you're developing taste -
Alien vs. Predator Movie Next August
Mr March replied to glane21's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, I'd just like to go on the record and say that while I do see a lot of crap movies, it's rare that I'll take an absolute stance and say I'll never go to see such and such a film. Besides, I see crap movies (and I suspect many other people are in the same boat) because of my friends, girlfriends, or family. My friends like to watch a bunch of crap and as a result, I've seen many a film that I have bashed and wouldn't have viewed if it were just me. But friendship requires sacrifice, and so you have me sitting through bad film. So that's why sometimes I'll see films that I bash anyway. -
Hehehe, surfing 19 I like that Excalibur one. Very dramatic.

What is the most memorable scene for you?
Mr March replied to PC Valkyrie's topic in Movies and TV Series
The scene when Bodolzaa's mothership first appears out of fold space in orbit of earth. The music, sound effects and pictures of the fleet is startling. I've never forgotten that picture in my head after all these years. I can see how that one shot influenced so many people in science fiction since. Great scene. -

I could look at Balent's Catwoman artwork for hours in a daze. He's the reason that comic sells...I'm sure of it -

You're going to have to decide what kind of toy you want and what means more to you as an owner. If you're looking for a toy you can play with without care, drag through the mud, and knock off your shelf, get a Bandai 1/55 Scale Valkyrie. It's not very stylish and looks like a flying brick, but the thing transforms quickly, is as durable as toys get, and is cheap to purchase a reissue. VF-1S Super 1/55 Scale Bandai for sale at Hobby Link Japan If you want a toy that is fairly durable, your reasonably careful with your stuff, and you're mostly interested in display-and-play, get a Yamato 1/48 Scale Valkyrie. This is the most anime accurate transformable toy (note I said "toy", not model) that has ever been available. It holds together well, takes poses and keeps them, looks amazing, but is somewhat expensive. VF-1S Hikaru 1/48 Scale Yamato for sale at Hobby Link Japan As a toy newbie myself, I also lacked any kind of Macross toy up until about a year ago (I've been a fan of Macross most of my life). My first Valkyrie was Yamato 1/60 Scale. I can tell you right now, as a first time buyer, go for the Yamato 1/48 Scale instead. You'll be blown away by the quality and detail of the 1/48...it doesn't disappoint. Especially if you've never owned a Macross toy. Hope this helps

It's funny, but even though I'm primarily a PC gamer and always have been, I just realized I own three of the game consoles on that list. Out of the three systems I own (Sega Dreamcast, Xbox, and Super Nintendo) I'd have to say the SNES was probably the system that I loved the most. The SNES was released in what could probably be described as my golden age of gaming, when I was about 16-20 years old and had nothing to do but attend high school/college, party, and play video games As far as consoles go, I played the most console games on the SNES. THere was a lot of fun games and I had a blast. Though I still game, it's that time and that console I look back to most fondly. If the Platform definition holds, the PC is my gaming hardware of choice. No console, no matter how much I like it, can compare with my PC. It will always be my PC.

I talk about Macross Plus all the time, whenever there is a good topic to post in. Unlike most of the fans here, I don't have any love for most 80's mecha shows. Macross was about the only good one. I enjoy Plus just as much as the original SDF Macross and the film DYRL? Besides, why have fun discussing Macross Plus endlessly when one can bitch about Yamato endlessly?
