Fantastic! As a long time Nausicaa fan, I'm thrilled this DVD is getting good treatment here in NA. I've got my japanese DVD on pre-order and I'll definitely pick up the NA release as well.

What's your favorite mobile suit?

Different strokes for different folks. I like the Xi not because of its look, but more for its story as the first and only MS to be self sufficient. It flew from Jupiter to Earth on its own. And while I could agree with your point.... I simply have to say that while simplistic MS can be good, they have astetically pleasing, otherwise they look too ugly. Thats said.... the Quebley is my favorite MS design. It looks simplistic, has simplistic weapons, one heck of a pilot, and an overall pleasing roundness. Fair enough. IMO, most of the over-the-top designs just look too impractical to build. So many elements of the design would hinder efficiency; even simple articulation would be problematic (without animation magic of course). Basically, a mecha that's too busy hinders my suspension of disbelief. Personally, I have no real preference for round vs. blocky mecha designs. I know most people stick by their love of all things circular or all things square, but a good mecha design can be either...or both! Many of my favorite Valkyries are smoth and rounded yet I love some of the very blocky Gundam designs. -

It's very interesting how much can be done with so little. Subtlety and basic form can count for much when designing a mecha. -

Totally agree. The Sentinel designs were really scratch build models Frankensteined from a bunch of different, unrelated parts without much rhythm or reason except to "look cool". Well yes, the Sentinel designs do have that problem as well. Design chaos is one of the additional reasons I don't care for many of them. But I just don't care for all the fluff -
Gotta love treks forhead wrinkles. funky hair styles and silly accents I kinda take cliche in stride. though one that utterly gets on my nerves is, space fighters in space flying around like they are restricted by atmospheric conditions. Wish more people would take B5's approach to space battle. Uh yes, the infamous bewildering array of forehead appliques Well, Babylon 5 doesn't get everything right either. It has it's fair share of cliches. The difference between Babylon 5 and the usual crap on television/film (aka Trek) is Babylon 5 is an innovation for science fiction live action rather than a re-run stereotype. Rotating ships, proper zero-g physics, space craft combat/movement in three dimensions instead of two, more non-humanoid aliens, et cetera. Given the shoe-strign budget they had to work with, Babylon 5 actually did an amazing job trying to break from the mold.

And dress exactly the same! Imagine shopping in an alien departement store? Hahahaha. Good one. Funny because it's so true

Hehehe, I understand your feelings, but you should probably get used to it. If the chick isn't some bleach blonde toothpick starring in a music video fresh off the mediocrity assembly line, most men are gonna jump at the chance to cut the poor gal to pieces

Ugh. I hate the overly stylized mecha like the Xi Gundam, FAZZ, and Sentinel designs. Those designs are far too busy looking, with too many unecessary segments, flanges, and protrusions. A solid mecha design that stands the test of time will always look good based simply on the basic aesthetic essentials, like the VF-1 Valkyries of Macross, the RX-78-2 from Gundam, or the Ingrams of Patlabor. -
I'll take that as a no I agree the post-apocalyptic story is tired.

Probably the worst are: - The timer to a bomb or cataclysmic disaster ALWAYS stopping at t-minus one second. - An entire alien race being behaviouraly identical - Earth is attacked/invaded/threatened - Energy weapons always depicted as superior to firearms despite low power, slow rate of fire, patheitc ammunition, no obvious advantage over a simpler firearm, et cetera. - Ridiculously unreliable technology

I sure hope that doesn't include the good old George Miller flicks

Another Trek fan boy site posting the same old "Voyager was actually a good show!" refrain over and over again. Been there, done that, exposed it as BS, and had great fun all the while -
Damn Carrie Ann looks great in that picture! She put on some weight and it very much suits her. Looking fine Ms. Moss!

My absolute favorite of any of the Gundam mecha will always be the RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex. The design is the best refinement of the original RX-78-2 Gundam from the OYW era; it holds up well even today. I also really like any mecha with disposable armor (one of the reasons I'm a huge fan of the VF-1). As per the list rule, here are my favorites: Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War In The Pocket RX-78NT-1 Gundam Alex Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory RX-78GP02A Gundam Physalis Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team RX-79[G] Ground Gundam Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack MSN-04 Sazabi -
Oh, here's that thread. Well, even though it is just still the 1/60 scale (I sold my only 1/60 a long while ago) I know the 1/48 scale will get the royal treatment and have a designed GBP-1. Just the waiting that sucks

What about extra fuel. In fighter mode, the arm sections are attached directly to the leg/engines of the fighter. Wouldn't be hard to connect them for fuel distribution that same as the outer leg/engine FAST packs. Also, every other piece of the FAST pack system contains fuel, so why not the arms as well. In the picture provided, the solid section beneath and behind the extra-sized micro missiles looks a lot like a tank as opposed to anything else.

That sucks. Hope the busy season doesn't last long at your company!

I gave it another try after over 13 years since I first saw the film. I did understand much more of the film the second time around, but I still didn't think that much of it. It's passable at best. But I think the special features are some of the best I've ever seen on a DVD set.

Variety is the spice of life. I listen to music from most everything. I do have some general dislikes for certain genres of music, like country or rap and hence I avoid them. However, even among the worst of music, I'll enjoy a few songs from styles I normally hate. I'll make a list of a few samples from the many different musical genres I enjoy (this list will be minus the anime music of course). Popular Music (the stuff most people recognize): U2 Matchbox 20 The Tea Party Collective Soul Savage Garden Default The Tragically Hip The Police The Verve Artists: Seal Amanda Marshall Sting Jann Arden Jazz: Miles Davis Norah Jones Robby Coltrane Classical: Gustav Holst Beethoven Richard Wagner Anton Dvorak Scores: Howard Shore John Williams Hans Zimmer International: Tomko Lamb

Well, I apologize if my announcement of Arnold's election tipped this thread over into the political. It just kinda seemed relevant at the time.
