  1. @peter No, actually it's Dull Red TS-33. It's slightly more red and I think it looks much better. I used Hull Red on my USS Fort Worth hull and now I wish I had used the Dull Red.
  2. The painters reported to the shipyards today...
  3. I'll have to get a pic of my TomyTec VF-1's - If you think the detailing on the Delta Valks is good, just wait...I got two CFs, a Roy and Hikaru. These are totally 100% built out of the box. No decals, no panel line washes. All the parts were undergated was the term I beilieve, meaning there was NO nasty nubs to sand off on any parts that showed! Bandai!! ARE YOU LISTENING!!!??? I only wish they would have continued the line into the more rare birds including VE-1 and Angel Birds/Virgin Road and such, THEN they could have done all the Enemy mecha in 1/144 ,and then Destriods!!! and then a Cats Eye and that other sexy shuttle plane I cant think of the name of!! and then AND THEN!! and ARRRRGGHHHH!!! Ok...calm ..calm down.
  4. I will have to admit, I do like the transformation and how the rear stabs fold up into the main wings. Pretty cool. That inner wing detail is great. I still don't like Alt mode, if I owned it, it would stay in robot mode and I'd be happy. But....alas, too rich for my blood Takara.
  5. @Chronocidal - Man, I remember building those TomyTec kits, I absolutely loved them. Some of the best kits I've built. I think they NAILED fighter modes on the VF-1's and VF-31's. Never bought the Gerwalk or Battroid kits, as they weren't cheap. As you said, the details are just amazing and with just a tiny bit of glue, they display wonderfully. I only wish they had kept the line going and finished the Delta valks.

Ohh DAMN. Mine's been on display since day one. Yeh everything felt really solid back then. Guess I'll be very careful when I mess with it!

    Me three...🙄
  8. @Rogueload -man, that Delta display is LEGIT. Congrats on those customs. Bandai sucks for not releasing supers for all the 31's.
  9. Great builds everyone! Love that Defiant model, I used all the decals on mine and I loved the outcome. Waaaay to lazy to mask and paint it if I have decals. Speaking of masking.. Hahaha.. Runabout detail painting update. LOTS of masking and painting. I'm now actually on to brush painting by hand, Tamiya acrylics (Yes! me!) with my new best friend the VERY helpful Tamiya Paint Retarder on the very small panels. Lots more to go, but things are moving forward! Stay tuned!
  10. Here's the result with the main deck temporarily in place...it glows...LOL.
  11. After sleeping on it, I decided the "warm white" LED's I have for the Titanic weren't warm enough for what I think early 1900's lighting might have looked like. So this morning I did a test spray with some Tamiya Clear Orange over the clear half dome cover material of the LED strip itself. I think that's MUCHO better. Running it at 7.5 volts it doesn't even get warm, so I don't think I'll have any issues with the paint doing odd things over time. If any lighting gurus around here have a different opinion on that, I'm all ears. Runabout painting update tomorrow! Stay Tuned!
  12. +1!!! The Expanse is great! (Although the last season to me was kinda meehhh)
  13. Titanic main hull primed/light blocked. 1st LED light test... 20210625_174055.mp4
  14. Ok, normally I think the SD stuff is dumb and ridiculous, however, that SD VE-1 is gonna HAVE to be mine at some point to put beside the HM-R and Yamato 1:60!
  15. WOW! That's all I got. Truly a great time for Southern Cross fans!
  16. Honestly the rigging is what scares me the most. I can get through the other fit issues and PE with enough time and patience. I've never attempted ships rigging before, I'm for dang sure not using the black thread that came with the kit. I believe I was watching a build from a guy doing the 1:200 Missouri and he had some more modern wire he used that looked good. Maybe someone like @MechTech can point me in the right direction???

  18. Well, the last month has been crazy life time. Wife's dog had to be put down, then vacation week to the beach, followed up by over 20 days straight of work, 7 of which out in the TX heat and humidity, but hey, what doesn't kill you only makes you wish you were dead right? Yeh, that's how that goes! LOL! Anywhooo, Runabout detail painting continues when I can, but the heat and humidity haven't been ideal painting conditions..sooo...I broke out the TITANIC and have successfully drilled out ALL the portholes (thank GOD for my little WeCheer electric micro drill!!!) and also drilled holes in the base for wiring. Going to try to light block and primer the main hull this Friday hopefully (finally getting a day off). I have also been watching ALL the videos on YouTube that I can find on the Titanic model, and I'm not overflowing with confidence on this build. It's gonna be a sanding and putty battle, I can feel it coming because of the age of the mold. I have been shopping online though in order to make my life...easier????... Got PE parts and PE 1/350 people pre-painted! Also picked up a newer, better, more accurate set of waterslides! Of course my modeling buddy Pyewacket ALWAYS has to see what I'm up to.... Stay tuned!
  19. Depends on which dark hole of the interwebs you go down I think...LOL
  20. Out of town down to the TX coast with the wife's family last week, it came up in conversation that back in the late 90s my mother in law and my wife and her brother had purchased a model of the Titanic for my father in law as he loved the movie and the history behind it. Now he hasn't ever really built a model as far as I know and never really expressed interest in the hobby. So I piped up and said "oh really? Why don't you let me build it for him!!?? "... thinking to myself they went to some hobby store and bought some little Revell kit for $30, I can slap it together in a weekend or two and get some cool son in law points. Well, yesterday my wife brought it home. And uhhh yeh... IT AIN'T THAT!!! Open mouth, insert both feet and bend over.. LOL. Ohh dear GOD... what have I gotten myself into???...I've been doing my research yesterday and this morning on this kit and it's really a kit from the mid 70s repackaged after the movie came out in 1997. I feel a year long battle ahead... I'm already looking for PE upgrades for the railings....LOL
  21. If Bandai wanted my money for a repaint, they should do THIS scheme! Total instabuy! Pic from Japanese model Twitter page
