  1. @Rock - EXACTLY! Yeh, I tried a couple of old random pattern steel lighting gobos from my work but it didn't work out. I'll look into those you mentioned.
  2. My mottling arm is tired! BTW, if you haven't tried Mission Models acrylic paint for airbrushing, you should! Lays down beautifully with no thinning and for my money lays down waaaay better than Tamiya through my GSI Creos. Made in the USA too so much easier to get than Tamiya theoretically.
  3. Looks REALLY good, if I didn't already have the SOC Bandai, I would pony up for this guy immediately! Not enough differences or improvements to replace my SOC though...
  4. Aztecs are going down beautifully over the LP-61 Metallic Gray!
  5. Matte color looks great, I'll pass on this one though. Just no room for anything new. Sold all my 25's years ago to pay off wedding debt, picked up the worldwide 1st release just have one which I'm fine with.
  6. @captain americaBeing one of the veeeery few who have the original smaller 3 kit set, (12 was it Cap?) I can't wait to see what you come up with on a newer better larger one!
  7. Navel and space ship yards UPDATE! I ended up going with Tamiya lacquer LP-61 Metallic Grey for NX-01 base color. I think it came out great. Also scratch built and installed two new bow planes on the Typhoon, got the Botany Bay built, puttied, sanded, primered and painted along with more painting on the Dallas! Busy weekend! Still absolutely LOVING the new Mr Hobby GSI Creos. 02 airbrush! Great for mottling! Stay tuned! 😁

    Hi-Metal R

......AND the skills of a master model maker!...Looks great @tekering! Can't wait to get to mine!
  9. OPINION NEEDED: Hull color for NX-01.... Spoons on the left are Alclad Stainless Steel (1st time using it, MAN, this stuff airbrushes like a dream but NOT cheap!) Top is over grey primer bottom is over gloss black. Spoons on the right are Tamiya Light Gun Metal from a rattle can. Top is over grey primer and bottom is over gloss black. While I like the Alclad, and think the ship WOULD look really cool with that color, I think it's to light and won't look like the CG model at the end of the day. The Tamiya color is the one I used on my little bitty 1/2500 NX-01 a few years back and really love how it came out with the azteck decals over it. What do you guys think?
  10. THE BLUE IS STILLLLL TO BLUE!!! PO CANCELLED!!!!
  11. FOOOLZZZZ.... All shall bow before COBRA!!! I need a GI JOE episode expert to tell me which episodes and what all the accessories are from, I vaguely remember a couple but not all from watching as kid in the 80's. Can't figure out a way to have him hold the rifle yet.....
  12. This whole thread is just a masterclass in how to do custom repair work!! @Palantirion You sir, are VERY talented! Can't wait to see the whole thing setup on display! BRAVO!
  13. @505thAirborneYes, Mr Hobby Procon Boy(Or GSI Creos) . O2 is the one I got for fine detail work. . 03 is good for all around use and . 05 is good for laying down a lot of paint. For $100 or less you can't beat this brand IMHO. My Iwata is nice but man it was expensive and it's finicky, it has a sticky trigger no matter what I do sometimes, which apparently is commen with that brand. Also the main selling point for me on the Mr Hobby is it has the adjustable stopper knob on the back for how far you can pull the trigger back. Great addition! And it has a MAC valve... Haven't even played with that yet. Hindsight being 20/20 I would have bought two sizes or styles of Mr Hobby instead of the Iwata... You're Mac II squad is looking great!
  14. GSI Creos 02 is a winner! Love it already for fine detail work! Mottling continues on the Dallas!
  15. So much cool Macross stuff!! I can contribute too! Just landed yesterday on my porch! Also picked up my 1st GSI Creos Mr Hobby airbrush. Went with a. 2 for fine detail work. New but no packeging from Sprayguner - Like $85 shipped! Can't wait to try it out!
  16. When I was a kid growing up in the 80s I would go to work with my mom a couple of mornings a week in the summers, she worked at a small church as their secretary out on the west side of Fort Worth. It was a small building that Sat on a couple of acres of land so there was lots of room for a kid to roam around. The best part about all this was it was directly in the flight path of the KC-135s, T-38s/ F-16s but MOST impressively the BUFFS! The B-52s all doing touch and goes out of Carswell AFB / General Dynamics now Lockheed Martin (they share runways) right over my head at the church! I loved it. Loud and proud! 'MERICA! They just were soooo huge and awesome. My dad also took me to the airshows where I could get up close to them. That was epic! I saw reviews of this kit about a year or so ago and all signs said it was great, so we shall see... eventually!

    Hi-Metal R

@MisaForever Agreed with @Big s - The Hi Metal R Destroids and enemy mecha (most notably the Monster and Glaug) are definitely the high point of the line thus far IMHO and many others here. Also, the ELINT seeker and Macross 2 Valks are great as well! Just because they are such oddballs!
  18. Typhoon got a coat of Mr Surfacer 1500 Black this morning. Only one sliiight minor issue to report.... the poorly designed bow planes that were very loosely together inside on plastic mesh gears came loose and fell off inside the sub... yeh. Now it's a rattle trap for all time.. LOL. I knew I should have picked an angle and glued them but ohhhh no... they'll move on the teeth of the gears like a Tomcat model if you leave them!..... yeh right.... Off to the styrene stash I go!
