Possibly not, considering the fact that China's workforce gets paid a hell of a lot less than anyone else... Production costs might be really low, and this might just parallel the costs of RT:TSC. Something to consider, anyway...

Right now, the primary reason for the 18+ rating is to prevent anonymous guests from sowing up. AS this thing goes on, and I get more information on how Talkshoe operates, I might find a way of doing that wihtout the 18+ rating, and then it'll make te show more accessible. Considering the fact that I, myself, slip into a bit of profanity once in a while, I am sure that there are others out there who might, too, so I'm covering my tail with the rating, for right now.

Well, here goes... I'm starting an amateur podcast for Macross, and the introductory episode starts this coming Saturday, 1/16/10 at 3PM Pacific Time. Understand, I am a fan only, and am in no way an expert on anything. I'm inviting everyone to participate, because as a fan, I would like the chance to openly discuss this great series, and learn from other folks, and have a damn good time doing it, too. It's titled 'Macross Fan'. Registration to Talkshoe is a must, since I've rated it for listeners of age 18 and older. Thanks, folks, and I hope to see you there!

Well, in my rather limited research of things, the only thing I've found that isn't as well-thought-out as the RT universe is 'Plan Nine from Outer Space'... But, I could be wrong.

Which one are you talking about/ The original with Gregory Peck, or the newer one with Armand Asanti? BTW: Both are good, but I have a slight preference for the original.

Immagine, if you will, a VF-1 tweaked by Chip Foose... GEEZE!

Will we ever see a Macross Rocket Punch?
Robelwell202 replied to RedWolf's topic in Movies and TV Series
A 'Macross Punch' would be silly, but the one thing I really hope NOT to see in future Macross installments is a Macross Sword... We're one step closer to it, with the Quarter carrying it's flight deck like a sheild, so I'm seriously wondering if there'll be a Voltron-esque 'Flaming Sword'. Just something to worry about... -
And now we come to the reason why I was banned from RT.com... (Excuse me, had my posting priv's taken away... not the same as 'banned', according to MEMO) In all my historical searches for a parallel to HG's practices, I've only ever come accross one match.. Communist Russia. Well, since I've told them that, I'm no longer worthy to post there... Awww, schucks.

Damn good work, Graham. It's nice to know that we have an advocate in contact with them. I would've liked to find out about something, though... Maybe you can answer it for me. Does Yamato have a way of directly ordering parts, like decal sheets? Thanks again, man!

Agreed. Yet another thing for RT fans NOT to be proud of...

Oh, you're missing out... SEVERLY nice eye-candy, sir.

Up here in the Seattle area, it was relegated to an extremely early Saturday Morning time-slot (6AM) on a channel that specialized in syndicated crap (Channel 22, no longer around).

LOL!!! That's standard fare from Harmony Gold, taking credit for something that they really didn't do. Sure, they had a role in introducing Macross to the US, but one might hand the grand trophy to stuff like Space Battleship Yamato (Under the name Star Blazers), or Captain Harlock, for 'introducing anime to the west'... Still, it was a rather specialized niche that RT occupied, along with the previously named titles. Anime wasn't a really recognized medium until we got things like Dragonball-Z, Neon Genesis Evangeion, and the various Gundam series. At least, that's what I remember.

If I were able to simply buy parts from Yamato, then I'd love to buy a couple of the water-slide decal sheets that they made for the 'special weathering' versions of the 1/60 Destroid Tomahawks that they made... The sticker decals suck!

I don't know if this qualifie for the discussion, but there was a recent flick that left me with a giant WTF feeling... The Mist I do have my isues with the movie. As is usual for anything Steven King, there's a huge hate of the US Military present in the flick. That's something I could do without. Still, the ending left me feeling like my guts (and other vital man-organs) had been kicked into the stona-age...

Even MORE remake madness.......
Robelwell202 replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Agreed, Taks... Let's hope... -
Ugh!!! I don't know how much more obvious they can make this thing... I saw elements of SDF-Mac, Mac-Frontier, and DYRL... All jammed into an RT:TSC-quality animation style... I need a shower, now...

The problem is, those uf us who could be called 'level-headed fans', and those fewer of us that do what we can to make 'our own franchise' usually fall into the 'disgusted fan' syndrome. Ultimately, I can only speak for myself, so here goes... It's somewhat widely known that I write an RT fanfic. As I've explained before, the RT universe was where I chose to place my story simply because it's the one I know more about. Also, I do carry some fond nostalgic memories of the series, and I probably always will. The problem, though, is that people like me, who produce our own stuff, get harrassed and badgered for not carrying the company line more. It's a common problem. For me, it's a case of simple disgust. I've said before that RT dhould be relegated to one of those old 80's cartoons (Like Thundercats, MASK, etc.) that people remember fondly. However, Harmony Gold is trying to force it into some form of relevance that isn't really there. Also, they're trying to cash in on the current rush of 80s-cartoons/toys-to-LAMs, which is a joke, at best. So, here I am, voicing my view on HG's lame attempts, and I get labeled a 'Macross Purist', even though I write an RT fiction. Apparently, any loyal fan must believe in the absolute, undenyable wisdom of HG, the absolute and undenyable quality of RT:TSC, and wait with baited breath for the LAM, which has everyone at Paramount quaking in their boots. Well, I don't. I see about ten metric tons of BS being crammed into a five-ton bag. So, here I am, drifting more and more towards Macross, Gundam, and other titles, and leaving the crap-storm that is RT behind. It's sad, really...

That's not exactly the case, but it's close... Harmony Gold has tried to expand the RT-Universe a couple different times, but the only attempt that held any real promise was 'Robotech: The Sentinels' (And even the idea of 'promise' in this expansion is heavily debatable), but that fell through because of Matchbox pulling out of a toy deal, I think. Beyond that, you have many different comic series coming out in the '90s, and the utter failure that was 'Robotech 3000'. After that, there was the whole series of crap surrounding 'Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles', which was hailed as a great success because it won an award at the Cannes Film Festival (Never mind that it was the only entry in that catagory), and supposedly, it was a huge financial success for Harmony Gold (Even though the production budget was extremely small to begin with). Ultimately, it can be argued (quite successfully) that every time HG tried to continue the RT story, they met with abject failure. The novels, comics, artbooks, and other published material surrounding all the main animated stuff are all contradictory, and most have been relegated to non-canon status after a major retcon by HG's new management some time ago. I'm not clear about all the minute details, but others on here are. They can fill you in on the details.

I would've guessed Toynami...

Am I alone when I look at the white fighter and think it's based on the old F-111? My reasons: Long nose, swing wing, and single rudder.

Okay, so, looking over the threads for the past few months, I've seen complaints/concerns for both scales of VF-1 Valks. 1/60 is the famous shattered-shoulder problem 1/48 seems to be plagued with bit and pieces not fitting properly, or things falling off. So, I'm asking all those who've gotten these toys a simple question: Which is better? 1/60, 1/48, or should I forget the whole thing until quality issues are dealt with? (For the admins: If this new topic conflicts with previous threads, feel free to delete it. It's not my intention to spam or step on anyone else's toes.)
