  1. Yeah, and the VF-36 "Astolle" was meant to be "Bird" or "Hawk" or something. A japanese guy visited /m/ and pointed it out.
  2. Official site is up: http://www.shin-mazinger.com/ I love how the characters look more like the manga version than the TV series, Kouji and Z always look more badass in the manga.
  3. I stopped watching most new anime for quite a while now (the last mainstream anime I finished was MF), dropped Casshern Sins as well, I will watch Rideback when it's finished. I'm still watching Kamen Rider DCD. Other than that, I finished two parts of Megazone 23, Part 1 was hella good, it reminds me quite a bit of the original Macross due to all the songs, Mikimoto design and variable mechs. I don't like Part II quite as much due to the horrendous art change, I'm fine with most art change mind you (ala SDF Macross and Macross Zero versions of Roy Fokker), but part II is too much for me to handle, most characters get a new uglier look that I can't stand, BD looks like a normal white-hair villain, Yui looks super generic compare to her Mikimoto's version, I can hardly recognize her and Shogo. But Part II gets more space fights, and that's it, the mecha animation looks so stiff compare to Part I, the animation quality is also much more worse, and I lol how the new artist tries to draw Eve like the Mikimoto's version but it simply doesn't fit. I don't care if Part II gets more "mature and violence" contents if suddenly every characters I love from Part I become so much different. I'm still getting Part III though.
  4. Anyway, since the debate of 19/22 vs 25 is almost over for both sides... I bring in more materials. These two are the VF-32 and VF-36, fan arts of next-gen VFs after Frontier era, what do you guys think about them? I know they are not Kawamori's works, but these designs are still interesting, the VF-32 is one oddest looking VF I ever seen, while the VF-36 looks more traditional and way sturdier. (I'm sure people who visited /m/ sure know about them ) VF-32 "Vespa" VF-36
  5. If this world needs more things other than mecha anime or mecha games, I say it needs fricking more cosplay pr0n.
  6. Man, what should I ask the doctor? "Hey doctor, doctor, in japanese animated cartoon, boys are becoming more like girls and girls are having giant eyebrows like manly men, what should I feel right, doctor?"
  7. Really a fantastic interview, I want to hug the interviewers for asking such good questions and Kawamori for giving the valid answers. It seems, like the modern world, the Macross world is also processing into a new age. Giant corporations and PMC are taking over the standard government like the NUNS little by little. And the fact that the Vajra is not a meaningless (albeit generic) addition to the series at all, because with their help, the Macross world is entering a entirely new age with new ways of fold traveling and fold communication. About the "what Valk they used for each Macross Fleet" problem, I think it depends on just the "taste" of each fleet, really, with stuff like VFX2, when people still use VF1-X (a modernized version of VF-1) to do secret operation, I think they can custom/upgrade the VF-19's capacity to even surpass the VF-25. And the YF-24 is indeed developed in Earth-Eden, much like the previous AVF plan (YF-19/21). Man, I'm so wish for a YF-24's OVA in Macross Plus-style. This is the linart of the YF-24 Evolution as showed in the recap episode of Frontier: http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/4318/yf24.jpg
  8. ...hmm, Macro Klan always looks manly to me, especially after episode 21, even with her two big "mountains", she's still looking like a manly dude. I dunno if this is a good thing or not.
  9. That pic is made of win. *saved* Your painting/designing skill is amazing, it feels so fricking real. Man, when the VF-25S comes out, promise us and make a VF25S + Ozma version like that.
  10. I dunno in Macross world, but martial artists are pretty good pilots in G Gundam (SHINGINGUU FINGAA) hahah. But seriously, Basara from Macross 7's fighting skill is just as good as his piloting. Brera too, but the guy is supposed to be combat cyborg/pilot.
  11. Well ANN forbids linking their images to other sites. Can you save the pic and host it in imageshack.us , MisaForever?
  12. IMO, the Knife is a nice equipment, Ozma used his to kill his first Vajra in the show, and later many more. After all, Valk gotta have something to defend themselves in melee combat, aside from good ol PPB Punch anyway. But sword/beam saber will just break the point.
  13. People speculate that Boss will make his appearance in the second episode because the VA list in the ANN's article only covers the characters in the first episode. And anybody notice that Kouji Kabuto is finally getting a VA recast? (Kenji Akabane instead of Hiroya Ishimaru). I wonder how good is the new guy?
  14. No offense, but I'd wait for the translation of these character page (if there will be any) before bashing the show due to "stereotypical" characters, since we pretty know nothing about them except their visual appearances. Edit: Well, considering VF-25 Messiah's translation of the story section is well-done, I'm gonna post it here so people may know what's this show is about: And these "Magic girls" Morpheus was talking about is supposed to be the Macros-I mean Eclipse Idol Group coming from the hi-tech Moon. The show is now giving me good Turn A Gundam vibes.
  15. As you can see, there is none. Maybe they will show her along with Mihcel, Ozma in the next PV.
  16. The upcoming SRW K for the DS doesn't even have Dizer or Great, it just has Mazinger Z ( and Neo Gaiking + Shin Jeeg). Note this is the first time Great Mazinger doesn't appear in a SRW.
  17. Thanks the translation, VF-25, I take back my statement, these are obvious hints to the upcoming events in the movie. Eh, but I can't tell much without seeing the P.V.
  18. I can't translate the whole thing, but it's just dialogue between Sheryl, Alto and Ranka. I dunno it's normal or not, until someone translate it. Eh, and Ranka's new song "That's right!" (Soudayo?).
  19. Hmm, pirate, knight, what's left? Samurai Valk? lol Well, Kawamori designed a Schoolgirl Valk (The Ladybird) before so all these ideas are possible in context.
  20. *Bump* The official site is updated with lot of new stuffs (characters, mechs, interviews), feel free to check it out: http://basquash.com/character.xhtml Side comment over the thread: Wow, never know people on MW seem to dislike this show so much (save for some members), this series looks fun, "Space Jam's mindless fun", and is definitely a fresh-air in mecha anime after stuff like IGPX, ala mecha without war. Just don't expect it to be ultra-realistic like UC Gundam and it should be fine.
  21. Glad to see some fricking Mazinger fan here, anyway have some more pics (source from: SRWG-W.org Shin Mazinger thread). The last two pics are from the new Mazinger Z figure. You may have a chance to see Great Mazinger (or even Grendizer) in the last part of the show. This is supposed to be "Z Hen", there might be the "Great Hen", "Grendie Hen" coming out later.
  22. Well, ANN just happens to officially announce a Mazinger show called Shin Mazinger Shogeki! Z-Hen, a remake of the classic Mazinger Z show. I dunno if there is any super robot/Mazinger fan in this board, but damn this news just makes my day. God, simply can't wait. Bonus point if this airs in Spring/Summer season together with SK's new show, BASQUASH. Edit: Forget the pic, this seems to be done in Mazinkaiser OVA-style.
  23. "Dark" as in "grimdark" ala people die/killed brutally, angsty and stuff? Well, that happens a lot in other Macross, it usually doesn't happen to the main cast though.
