  1. And with Disney now owning Star Wars I think the chances of it dropped even further (can a chance drop below zero?)
  2. > After whatever happens to breach the wall ( and I suspect it will have to be catastrophic to the Wall The thing about the wall, it ends at the ocean, and oceans freeze... (or is there something about the wall continuing over the ocean I've forgotten)
  3. Just saw it today - good (if stupid) fun up till the end, I tell ya, those aliens are practically brain dead. How did they manage to take over the Galaxy with an IQ of about -10?
  4. Excellent episode, only problem being the already mentioned time warp. But that is far preferable to the plodding pace the books have been going. It will be interesting to see how they handle some of this - most likely taking MANY MANY more pages to get to roughly the same place the show just did. Yes it is the best show on TV, or course that can easily be construed as an insult. Despite a couple of logic problems this is one show I will miss when it finishes, last one I can say that about was Battlestar Galactica.
  5. In the original show she did get a refit, new guns, radar, etc.. So that is a good idea.
  6. The thing is, for most fan productions the mere threat of legal action will be enough to stop them since they do not have the money (or financial incentive) to fight. It is not like a lone writer writing some fan fiction and posting it to the internet, it takes some time and money to produce videos.
  7. Axanar is just one example. There are other examples of delayed IP protection enforcement that have worked. It could also be that the defend it or lose it part is only in reference to Trademarks. If you let a trademark become a common name for something it will get lost.
  8. That is how it is supposed to work, protect it or lose it but realistically I don't think it really is the case anymore. Take this business with Paramount/CBS and Star Trek. They have let the fandom make these productions for YEARS now - and Paramount/CBS most certainly knew about them and did nothing till now. With all of that they can still come out now and in effect say "we changed our mind".
  9. The only real question is why they let the ST fan productions get to the point they did - no company wants to let something go so far out of their control. As for letting fans continue and taking profits from said films, two words "legal nightmare". If someone gets hurt on such a production - or starts a lawsuit, or uses it as a pretext to say Paramount (or whoever) is trying to get around the professional actors union, etc...
  10. That pretty much kills ALL the Trek Fandom productions. I think I can hear the wailing already,
  11. Propaganda does not usually use the term "Scotch Taped" to heap praise on something.
  12. I wonder if the show just dropped Dorne as a the sideshow it was/is. I'm guessing not but with only 13 episodes I doubt they will spend much time on it.
  13. From the first line of the article "In the 1980s, Carl Macek brought to the United States a series of Japanese cartoons that he had scotch-taped together and turned into the 85-episode series known asRobotech." I don't think this particular article needed any more detail than that. As for this whole discussion, still no movie eh?
  14. More like expect a little bit but not a lot. They seem to add one scene for a 2 hour movie but the percentage goes way down in a regular series (Rome excepted though I didn't watch much of it so perhaps it did decrease later).
  15. They are being translated to English and are available as amazon kindle books. I read the first one and was not impressed enough to buy the second. Far too many egotistical stupid characters (pretty much written as egotistical and stupid) for me to continue with. Dialog that goes something along the lines of Character A "we will do X and annihilate the enemy!" Character B "The enemy will do Y and annihilate us..." Character A "They would not DARE to do such a thing!" And of course the enemy does Y...
  16. Once I'll forgive, twice is pushing it, three times is over the edge. What we end up with is John Snow the unkillable character - no matter how badly he screws up. It is a very far way to fall from earlier in the show/books.
  17. How many last minute saves will it take before you decide it isn't just lazy writing? We already have at least 3 now...
  18. I recently (within the past couple years) rented that one on Netflix. I actually found the plucked chicken monster funny, and I wasn't even drunk or taking an illegal substance.
  19. That has me actually thinking of picking up a VR set. I will have to try it before I buy it though - too many false starts on VR for me to buy one without having a test run first.
