Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening
Dynaman replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've never seen Tusk (or heard of it that I remember). That said I don't need to have seen/heard of it in order to avoid that film up there...- 854 replies

I have the feeling this is going to bomb out very badly. I'll watch it when it gets to netflix or Amazon, not before.

If it has a Klingon captain than the show has totally gone of the rails. There was not a chance in heck of a Klingon being the captain of a Federation starship at this time.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, in theaters Dec. 16, 2016
Dynaman replied to Dobber's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
He did a great job in "I Robot" and I thought I remembered hearing his voice in something else but can't be bothered to look on IMDB to find out... -

I remember the Klingon BOP in Star Trek 3 and don't worry about such things as ship scale any longer.- 466 replies

Isn't there another thread on this? At any rate the trailer has me interested. I was worried about it when I first saw the Tick's costume and the actor does a good job - though I still miss Patrick Warburton. The old live action show was too cheaply done but the cast nailed it, especially Patrick.

The Alien/Predator/Aliens vs. Predator Thread
Dynaman replied to VT 1010's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, the ONLY way that thing is 91 pounds is if it was wrapped around a bar of lead. -
The Alien/Predator/Aliens vs. Predator Thread

My guess is they mixed up the decimal point and it is 9.1 pounds. Have to be made of metal to be 91 pounds. -

Dynaman replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Did they show the engine room of the new ship after the credits? I left before that (can wait for on demand to find out). It would be nice to have a more Trek like engine room for the new ship. Then again we may never know with the Box Office for the film being what it is.- 466 replies

I call it simply a missile - our distinctions really have no meaning in SW anyway - what makes an AA missile and AA missile in our world is that it homes in on a heat signature and is not made to penetrate much armor. Those distinctions are somewhat meaningless in SW. -

Can't beat an ad video where the caped crusaders are about to be cooked in a giant TV dinner tray.- 22 replies

Dark Matter and Killjoys have both gotten very interesting this season. I'm still not going to miss them that much if they get cancelled but well worth watching. I am looking forward to season 2 of "The Expanse" however. And now that "The Walking Dead" has disappointed me one too many times I am giving Z Nation a try.

"He-Man and Masters of the Universe" Film by Sony
Dynaman replied to Mazinger's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It didn't work WITH Frank Langella as Skeletor - though he did a good job with such a lousy part (and I consider the film a guilty pleasure of mine) -
The eighties scarface is pretty dated now, it is a reflection of the time. The new one might not be good but if they are smart they will stay away from a remake of the eighties version and take it in a different direction. Basing the new one on the current immigrant influx would be a political nightmare however...

More likely an homage to the Star Destroyer coming out of the shadow of Vader's Super Star Destroyer -
Brave New World is getting a Brave New Remake. Hopefully this one is better than the two existing films. http://www.blastr.com/2016-8-11/comics-writer-grant-morrison-adapting-brave-new-world-syfy

Hard comparison to make, the best of both of them is very very good while the worst of both of them is very very bad. I really didn't like Enterprise till the 4th season and the mini-arcs while DS9 was horrible till the Dominion war bit kicked in.

If Isamu Dyson was a real person, who would you cast?
Dynaman replied to eosmusashi's topic in Movies and TV Series
First post said for looks, "The SMIRK" in particular. EDIT - caps not meant to be an insult in any way. -
Only in a Dr. Who sort of way. You know, the kind where 3 different versions of Atlantis exist. > If I remember Turnabout Intruder right -- it's been years since I watched any TOS -- It was never implied that women could not be captains or even that they were discouraged from doing so There is a DIRECT quote saying they could not and Kirk did not contradict the one making the quote. So no, women could not be captains in TOS. As pointed out by Petro - the powers that be decided to ignore it in Enterprise.

Turnabout Intruder - Direct quote. A whole long discussion on it here where at least some trekkies try to claim it was only the delusional mind of Janice Lester - but as is rightly pointed out Kirk does not contradict her and instead sympathizes. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x8987229

Since it is in the original timeline and has a female lead all I'm really wondering is if they are going to keep to the cannon regarding females not being allowed to be a starship captain.
