  1. Interesting but the basic assumption is incorrect. Rogue One was not a quickly put together and badly resourced operation - it was a bunch of hotheads deciding to do something on the spur of the moment. Almost like those old movies where the gang decides to put on a show but instead decides to take on the Empire. It would have worked MUCH better if the Rebel Alliance had not shown up too, they only closed the shield gate thingy when the rebel fleet showed up. Then again they never did explain all that well how far the transmitter could transmit if the gate was down.
  2. I recently tried to watch the miniseries and it was very bad and very dated. Turned it off after just a half hour or so. Long story short - I wholeheartedly agree.
  3. Granted, Obi-Wan has gotten better but Qui-Gon must have been a bleeping idiot...
  4. I can honestly say that I am bloody well VERY happy my childhood was not that interesting!
  5. Sorry, the bit that the little guy can doing something is OK but the big guy doing it is not - garbage. Something is either wrong or it is not.
  6. My opinion on the white washing bit, I don't give a rip when the Japanese remake something from the US/UK (RAN, I'm looking at you in particular) using Japanese actors.
  7. 154? That is roughly 153 more than I expected.
  8. I have Netflix so I'll be watching it. Not sure you can get the essence of it down to a single movie.
  9. I'm getting old but I have crossed over to the dark side - I would much rather have a digital only copy of a film or book these days. If 2202 came out on Netflix I would be very happy, happier to have it on Amazon or Comcast for purchase. If disks are all I can get then I will get them.
  10. Saw the trailer for this while watching Beauty and the Beast and I really don't know. Seems like they changed the whole vibe of it to a "you made me but can't control me" bit with the Major. Granted that was part of the original but never so heavy handed in execution as the Live Action ads seem to make it. I'm still going to see it in Imax.
  11. There is a long gap between flashy over the top fights and the blink and you'll miss it variety. As for Kenobi - I expected an episode with him in it would have more of him in it...
  12. The problem with the fight - and the Obi Wan bit - is how much they hyped it up, and it turned out to be pretty much nothing. The whole episode could easily have been skipped entirely.
  13. Also - the reason they "lost" US sales on 2199 was not due to it having been released with English subtitles on the Japanese discs - it was due to sub-pathetic marketing. The only people their marketing could possibly have reached are those who already knew about 2199 in the first place. Any of their fans from the Star Blazers days that do not keep up with anime would have no way of knowing that 2199 exists. I loaned out my discs to a couple of friend's who fall into that category, would never have bought 2199 direct from Japan but would have bought SB2199 if they had known about it.
  14. Went to see it in IMAX 2D today. Those who liked the original are most likely going to like this one. A couple of minor additions to the story along with a couple of minor changes. Belle's mother is discussed as well as the Beast's family - those are good additions since they add some backstory and give motivation to some actions. The only clunker for us was the Beast had a new song in this version and it wasn't all that good. Not to end on a bad note, the show is good entertainment and the imagery is outstanding.
  15. I'd be inclined to see this, the title is easy "Coming Back to America"
  16. I think this is a cool little tidbit - the Japanese dub of the movie will have a number of the original GitS cast reprising their roles. http://www.blastr.com/2017-3-13/ghost-in-the-shell-japanese-cast
  17. Tried to watch the first episode of Time after Time. It was borderline at best and then gave up watching and deleted the show after that - NOT going to watch a show with that kind of stupidity.
  18. The first season is excellent. The dubbing is first rate as well. Up to about the 4th or 5th episode of season 2 and the animation is starting to get to me - it is computer done which is OK but somebody decided that everyone should be moving all the time, which in theory is good, but most of the characters seem to be aimlessly rocking back and forth or turning their head from side to side and it kinda looks like bad animatronics. Whenever a character is moving for a reason it looks fine however.
  19. They have it internationally now. They have had it in the US and perhaps Canada for a couple years now.
  20. One of those rumors just doesn't add up. Netflix paid an amount equal to the entire production budget for streaming rights. That makes Netflix INCREDIBLY stupid or the show being made incredibly cheaply. Thought I should check the announcement before posting - Netflix also got all the other Star Trek shows in the deal (only one not mentioned was the animated series). That is an important distinction that was not mentioned. Not that I'm expecting this show to do well, putting on the CBS No Access graveyard channel is a bad idea.
  21. An optimist! Me - I've given up on the books, the comment's about Arya's arc the last two seasons applies to everyone in the last two books. Though I do have a soft spot for Pretty Pig AKA Bacon.
