  1. > Also, like I keep saying, stupidity is NOT a defense. I never said it was either, I said it was a different kind of crime. I see this seems to be highly emotional for you for some reason so will leave it at that.
  2. > Like others have said, the more you give away, the mystique wears off and he's just another villain in a cool suit. Just want to point out that even though my post way up there says the more he talks the worse it gets I never thought the character had any mystique of any kind. I didn't find out he was popular for a LONG time and I'm still left scratching my head trying to figure out why. He was just a generic naughty villain.
  3. I give FASA the benefit of the doubt about not knowing TCI did not have rights. They are guilty of not following through with due diligence but not outright theft. Any wargame company at the time (and today) almost certainly skimped a bit on lawyers and keeping proper track of licensing rights of anime designs is something you really need a specialised lawyer to do correctly - even more so at that time. How FASA managed to snag the Star Trek license (well, one of them) would make for interesting reading, not interesting enough for me to look it up mind you.
  4. That was quick! Looks like The Expanse has been saved. http://www.syfy.com/syfywire/the-expanse-officially-picked-up-at-amazon-for-season-4 Also want to say that this week's episode was excellent. I was wondering how they would do the FX shot going through the ring and it was, as I said, excellent.
  5. Never going to work. BF suffers from the "less he says the cooler he is" syndrome.
  6. ANYTHING FASA did on their own. I stopped buying stuff decades ago, sometime in the eighties. I have what I think is second edition (under the BT name, 3rd perhaps if counting Battledroids as an edition). I think there was a FASA original design or two in the original game and the first technical manual may have had more. All were dreadful stuff. Later on I saw the Japanese art for the game, a real shame they didn't (couldn't?) use that in the US version. And to finish off the whole thing - the prices for the game are insane, I was thinking of picking up a copy till I saw how much it was costing now.
  7. > All the stuff they'd stolen from Macross, Dougram, and Crusher Joe became off-limits... the first, and until very recently, only example of Harmony Gold doing another company a solid. I wouldn't say that. the original FASA designs for BT were simply horrid.
  8. I wouldn't get too excited yet. We have to wait and see who gets the rights in 2021 (IIRC). With the pathetic output of HG I can't imagine them wanting to pay to renew the license but stranger things have happened.
  9. Hasn't Shazzam always been a kind of goofy character (insert comic fan rage here). I'm only familiar with the character from the TV show in the seventies.
  10. Space Ghost Coast to Coast was a mock talk show, not in any way equivalent to what was done with Teen Titans and apparently being done with Thundercats.
  11. Are you sure that isn't a missing still from Dragon's Lair up there (I looked for an exact match for the sword pose but could not find one)
  12. It is going to be a rough few months avoiding spoilers while Funimation rolls out the episodes.
  13. But Space Ghost Coast to Coast was better than Space Ghost. The Donny Osmond interview was priceless.
  14. Is it possible for an entire network to jump the shark, if so CN has. And I'm not even a Thundercats fan.
  15. > But isn't it something like droids are regularly wiped so they don't become too much like a living being? THERE is a plot point for a future movie. Droids in Star Wars almost certainly would qualify as sentient by any modern definition and yet they are treated as nothing more than slaves even by the good guys. 3PO had his memory wiped after the original trilogy by the good guys.
  16. > You know I wonder if this SJW talk borders on Political debates. Since the very term is MEANT to be an insult I don't even wonder about it. Which is why I'm taking pains to point it out when I see it. As for the adventures of Rose and Finn, yes it was one of the problems with the movie but it was NOT due to social trends - it just happened to drag the movie down and not make any sense.
  17. Not liking Animal is heresy my man. Plus his bit got rid of the whole "killing a man" part of the song, which is more than the Muppets is known for even though they are not quite as squeaky clean as we normally think.
  18. So what? > pushing of identity politics both on and off screen I tend not to give a carp what is done offscreen, other than breaking the law I don't care. > My Dad was born with one arm. When I worked at Sears (back in the dark ages, when it was the #1 retailer) one of the security guards at our store had one arm, he was a tough mother too.
  19. EDIT - thread moved from Remakes thread so comment no longer applies. Truly a talented singer and hopefully it is a good movie.
  20. The first episode or two of 2199 are available for free on Funimation. So give it a try before you buy. I agree with Focslain, the dubbing is good but not great. Considering the low price on the dubbed version I'll be picking it up even though I already have the 4 discs of Star Blazers 2199 that came out from the old site.
  21. Good to know, I'm going to be subbing to Funimation in a month or so - I would like to go through 5 episodes or so at once when I join up. Going to be torture waiting each week for the ones after that of course.
