They have the eighties mall scarily correct. Though they did go a little overboard. Scarier is how well they replicated a cheesy local station commercial.

Not having seen a lick of it yet I wouldn't be surprised if the mass use of WMGs is going to have some kind of consequence for all involved. IIRC Starsha's people in this version wiped themselves out due to use of WMGs.

Disney or Comcast buys Fox or Fox wants to sell to someone
Dynaman replied to Old_Nash's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Not if you have competitors, which they still will. Comcast getting it would be a lot closer to one. -

It is not the same thing. AT&T and Time Warner are a content creation company and a distribution company. Disney would be one content creation company buying another content creation company, and there are still plenty of competitors. -
No - just the latest "chapter" (or whatever it is called) on the website they are releasing it on.

Lotsa talking heads in this issue, I do wish it was available in an English version. Yeah I know the gist of the story already but if they throw a curveball I would not know what is going on.

New Macross TV Series in 20xx (sometime this decade)
Dynaman replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
> What? you guys don't like Luke drinking purple titty milk? How xenophobic.... All milk, though not purple, is "titty" milk when you come down to it... (well maybe not that soy stuff but I don't consider that milk anyway). As for the next show, I passed on Delta when I heard the fan reviews and that it was more like 7 then Frontier or SDFM. I'm hoping this new shows goes in a different direction. I may also watch Delta in a few years too depending on how licensing goes. -
I'd say start with the original, I watched the US version as a kid (hiding behind the chair), but it has not aged well. The monsters have zippers and wear slippers a number of times. I saw a bit of a series from the nineties I'm guessing (from the bad CGI) and it was not much better. Sometimes growing up is a bummer. Off topic - but this reminds me it is time to search Youtube for Johnny Socko and his Flying Robot, Ultraman, Space Giants, and Dynaman (USA up all night version) vids again.

The only way I know Shazam is from the old Saturday Morning TV show. The DC universe could use a bit of that Shazam, lighthearted fun is needed in that universe.

With a score of 1 great, 2 turds, and 1 misfire I'll wait to see what he comes up with. (I was speaking of Robocop in particular, thinking of Neil's movies that comes out to one great, one turd, and one misfire).

I think it looks great.

It was pushed back, originally it was supposed to be July 20.

Syndrome having a believable grudge against mr incredible is one of the great things about the original. I'll not be seeing the equal till it is out on demand so can't comment on it yet.

That should be "I'll get you and your little Minmei too!" Though he never got the Hunters he did get himself some Minmei.

I don't worry quite that much about it. I assumed they were packing it from one part of the island to another. I do not remember any dialog from the scene.

The Expanse season finale was just as good as the season opener. SyFy was an the ball with this series from start to finish, looking forward to what Amazon does with it.

JP2 and 3 do not exist in this version, only the first movie.

I had my fill of the culture wars for awhile, can we get back to pointing out the travesty of this particular comic on this thread?

Disney or Comcast buys Fox or Fox wants to sell to someone
Dynaman replied to Old_Nash's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm happy Disney is getting it. Maybe the 20th century fox logo can end up at the start of the new Star Wars movies now (the way it was always meant to be) and being a Comcast customer (no choice in the matter if I want high speed internet, well I could get DSL with a tenth the speed for the same price) I'm happy they are not getting access to more content since I firmly believe that content creation and who owns the last mile of delivery infrastructure should be strictly separate. That is of course a pipe dream now. -
Considering that Horrible "knife" fight I still have to give them the benefit of the doubt on that one. Plus I have no plans on actually reading the comic so I'll never actually know.

Considering how badly animated Max and Millia's duel in SDFM was using swords kinda makes sense. I tried to come up with something snarky about the art but it is too wretched even for snark.

I see the Xindi are mentioned, which is the Enterprise arc for a season. I looked and saw no online mention of the Kzinti however. They do have the feline species Kirk was with in his room but their species was not mentioned and the one from Star Trek 3 of course. (Trek 5 too?)

I was surprised to read somewhere that TAS is canon (had to look up TAS to figure it out too). Although parts of it can't be - Kzinti, cough cough.

At least for the TNG and DS9 shows going cheap was part of the deal. DS9 also was splicing the crew into footage from the original show so they had no choice really. TNG was using the bridge set from some display when they did that Scotty episode so they were saving money - and going for nostalgia +infinity in that episode anyway. Ent - they had a choice but went with old style, did they use the sets from Star Trek 2 (with the Elvis impersonator that funds it?). As an aside I'm going to visit those sets in the next few months. Discovery seems to be planning on using the Enterprise in an ongoing fashion so will most likely be changing the look to match the new show with some nods toward the original.

"An LA source said" Hardly inspiring. I don't keep up with UK newspapers, is the Mirror considered reliable. With that "article" I would have doubts. Don't get me wrong, would love to see him back as Picard, even if only as a minor character, but he is a movie star now and I would expect he wants more money then they would be willing to pay except for a cameo type of role.
