Keeping a small batch of aircraft flying is VERY expensive. Mechanics need to be kept up to speed on those particular aircraft, and if they are aging they will require more maintenance then younger aircraft so dedicated crews, parts would need to be kept on hand and the F14 has some unique to that airframe, etc...

Being too soon after Perlman's Hellboy had nothing to do with it being a flop.

I guess it could actually be B4, and Lore is still running around I think.

That reminds me. Who is playing data? Even under all that makeup Brent Spiner's face is no longer looking that young. CGI maybe... Nope - really is him. Must have done some dieting and LOTS of that pancake makeup.

Battle of the Planets (Gatchaman) from the Russo Brothers
Dynaman replied to JetJockey's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The baddies were changed to be invaders from space and the droid thingy added. Star Wars was big back then. -

Just finished the last episode and now looking forward to the last season - I'm sure there will be one and then be done - the kids are growing quickly and basically they have enough time for one more season before they are adults. A large part of the show is that they are kids and I don't think the (insert term here) can't be replaced once they are adults.

You could just slap an SDF-2 sticker on an SDF-1 toy. It would be more screen accurate to have an empty box though.

AKIRA LIVE ACTION MOVIE = Life Support?
Dynaman replied to Macross007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
And... It's dead again. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2019-07-16/live-action-akira-film-delayed-indefinitely/.149051 -
That was one of their well drawn comics, so good it looked like it might have been traced from a frame of the animation, er wait a minute...

Hopefully no one. It is good to know that Star Wars went from the original movie to THAT to Empire Strikes Back. If they could make such horrible drivel between two excellent movies then we can have hope for the franchise in the future.

To quote the RiffTrax riff on it "there is not enough pot even in Modesto for this to have been made" Applies to the whole special but equally well to the cartoon alone. It makes the sequels (and prequels) look like fine art.

Ignoring the fact that the Star Wars Holiday Special (where the cartoon was shown) is one of the levels of Hell; Bobba Fett at least did something useful. Phasma never (never mind) did.

Finally went to see it today and there were a surprising number of people in the theater. TS2 is still the best but this one is a tossup with the first one on second place. It had me laughing out loud in a couple spots and Duke Kaboom was great.

SDF-2 was blasted to scrap with the sdf-1. SDF-3 is the one you are wondering about. Zippo chance of anything being done with that.

One example of that is that little thing called a Death Star - even a moderate sized ship could have taken it out with that lightspeed ram maneuver.

> Phasma became the exact same thing Boba Fett was in the original trilogy... an alleged badass in a nice suit of armor whose badassery is purely informed ability At least BF captured Han before getting thrown in the Sarlac.. CP just talked smack before getting thrown in the trash. Then blown up. Maybe she is actually like that guy from the third Mad Max movie, the one that just doesn't die.

Could have sworn I posted that this looks great. It would be really nice if this got a US theater release - we are more accepting of CGI animation then cell shaded...

Maybe they are trying to imitate "Engrish" On the plus side this is so far away from the source material at this point it practically is it's own thing.

B&T starts out fun, and ends with them playing Twister with Death - which should be fun but really wasn't. Really too bad the second movie didn't quite work since it had a lot of interesting ideas.

I'm shocked, that second trailer actually gives me hope for this film. School trip gone whacky instead of kids out in the jungle for no apparent reason and the trailer was entertaining. Not my movie and I won't be seeing it but...
