  1. I don't know about that, but seasons 1-3 are available on DVD from NetFlix.
  2. They did a joke on that in the last episode, I won't spoil the joke for those that might not have seen it. (I got a chuckle out of it)
  3. To continue with this, anything having to do with sand and romance. runner up "I've got a bad felling about this" abosulte worst possible "Space Rangers is being brought back..."
  4. Very informative, thanks for sharing that. It's amazing what the Anime industry in Japan can make for a shoestring budget (shoestring compared to what it would cost in the US)
  5. Just looked at the box office figures for Macross Frontier and Yamato. (this is on ANN, so if they are not good let me know). Frontier is listed as having a total take of under $5 Million. In the US that would be considered a total washout. Yamato is listed as having $1 Million so far (as of last weekend). Does anyone know how much either of these cost to make? Is the take for these two movies representative of the normal take for a movie in Japan? If so, how does the anime industry in Japan survive? (at those figures, a general US release of each movie would be well worth the cost of translation - even a bomb would bring in that kind of money in the US).
  6. I read somewhere that it came in 7th at the box office, no idea if that is good or bad (article said it was bad). And no idea if the article was accurate.
  7. Yes - that bunch of episodes made me wonder if the show had totally lost it. Luckily it finds it's way again soon.
  8. Or that a clips show could be so interesting. (I think that was the clips episode) (and OK, so the clips were not aired previously...)
  9. The swordfight in "Princess Bride"
  10. Nope - as far as I can remember it is just a couple of nobodys (well, they did have bodies) in a bar scene or two. Personally I would be more interested in a nude boomer, but no such look there either.
  11. Same thing for the DVD version of Caprica (which I recommend watching rather then the plan). Pretty standard practice for SciFi, throw in gratuitous nudity on the DVD version that can easily be cut out for the TV version.
  12. The entire American Anime market is still a pathetically small group of people, most likely there are the same number of people that prefer to see Das Boot in German with subtitles as well. (If the market were larger then the Japanese companies making Anime would put more effort into wringing some profit out of us) I'll hazard a guess that the two primary reasons we prefer Subs to Dubs are. 1 - English VAs are not as good as the Japanese VAs (not even close in many cases) 2 - Dubbed shows often got chopped into kiddified versions stripped of their essence. (Clash of the Bionoids anyone?)
  13. The elite groups were the aliens (FBI guy). The Terrorists were the ones trying to expose the aliens. Our aliens must not have a great need for medical treatments (hit by a car, doesn't appear to have happened to the infiltrators for example) or they would have been exposed long before (or they are more infiltrated then shown, enough to cover up an alien in a person suit getting hit by a car for example). Time to stop before I ramble too much.
  14. Also - the show had it's ups and downs, at one point I personally thought it got really bland, but then it got better then ever (or at least as good). Final episode - I thought it was a little silly, but I still liked it too.
  15. The only reason he doesn't is becuase he doesn't pay ANY attention to anything but his singing...
  16. I'd read that the Live Action Akira got canned a couple months back. (or am I missing a joke?)
  17. Fair enough, but what DOES he say that protoculture does now? And why were the Zentradi/Masters so intent on getting back Zor's ship if the protoculture in it was not so useful? Eventually they sent nearly the entire Zentradi fleet to get it back. (unlike Macross where it was just one small portion of the Zentradi) Personally I don't have a problem with them changing continuity - it's the fact that it seems to change willy nilly that is bothersome.
  18. Those are invalid copyrights, patents, whatever. You can't copyright things already existing in nature. What they *CAN* copyright/patent/whatever is artificially created stuff - GMO crops for instance. Which is still a tricky legal question - it's not the same thing as copyrighting naturally occuring organisms.
  19. the Doctor Who episode "Tooth and Claw" has the origin of Torchwood. But it is a different Torchwood then what you see in the show.
  20. Liquid Sky (Don't look for it, just take my word on it). Runner up is Battlefield Earth (at least Liquid Sky didn't have any budget to speak of)
  21. I'd have to go with Akira. Strong runner up for "Averiderci Yamato" (Yeah, I butchered the spelling - and I've heard at least 2 other possible English titles for it)
  22. Very Nice. (you keep doing enough of these alterations you could have a small animated scene done...)
  23. Much better.
  24. I could swear there is a shot of the old style Basestar in Razor (DVD version)
  25. They don't need to go on without him or Lisa, the characters don't have the Macross names, and no longer look anything like the Macross characters (Rick isn't bad, Lisa looks like a bodybuilder, I still like it - at least from the Shadow Chronicles art, but would hate to see what the animation of her will look like considering what all the other female characters look like). They certainly could go on without the character though, his character was nothing but window dressing the Shadow Chronicles. If anyone would watch is the question.
