He looks like he was out drinking the night before...

Far more importantly, most audiances do not have a feel for the real mechanics of flight - and would find an authentic dogfight boring and slow. Let's not forget that most "dogfights" were nothing of the sort either - fast planes would make a quick pass, then turn around realllll slow and far away and do it again. It was only when the inexperienced (or foolish) with the less manuevarable plane tried to get in to turning fight that a dogfight occured. (one caveat - a poor soul with a slower AND less manuevarble plane was really out of luck)

From the title I was wondering how they could do a sequal to Cosmos now that Carl Sagan is gone...

The movie can end in 1945, the bomb on the Enola Gay gets stuck and he is wearing a cowboy hat...

It is not the greatest show on TV, but it beats the heck out of Syfy's "reality" lineup... If it gets cancelled I will not be mourning the loss (I won't be cheering like I was for the cancellation of Flash Gordon though.) Probably Deja vu, I don't remember it having any previews. It doesn't help that it had a kind of bland opening reminiscient of just about every paranormal person show ever made...

Live Action Space Battleship Yamato
Dynaman replied to capt.actionjackson's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The Star Blazers website has reported that an official English Sub of the movie will be released, In Australia, in December. There will never be a Dub of this movie either, the actor playing Kodai has a clause in his contract stating that no one else is allowed to dub his voice. Info is available on the Star Blazers website. So with the subtitled version already there it would not take a whole heck of a lot of work to release for the US region. Hope it happens sometime soon.- 450 replies

Well, maybe not the voices and songs... (OK, the new generation guy can sing, but you know who can not...)

That was why I was not sure of it by the first half hour, but it comes together pretty well. It certainly does not have the pop that Heros started with, but it grows on you. If you like Warehouse 13 then you may like this as well, if you hate Warehouse 13 then this would be another show to avoid. (WH13 is another show I didn't think I'd like at first, but it is a good blend of funny and serious - I might even check out Eureka because of it)
-
Is anyone else watching this show. At first I thought it would be a "Heros" ripoff, it goes in a different direction though. It looks like it will be able to pull off multiple seasons far better then Heros did as well (it was just hard for Heros to top what it did in the first season, this show has a different pace). The premise of the show is that people have special abilities (nothing as over the top as Heros though). The downside is that they all have some kind of personality disorder to go along with it. Non spoiler examples. Super Strong Guy - Very brusque and off-putting. Guy who can read radio signals - Autistic Super Senses lady - is a pushover Lady who can make others do things, sort of like "These are not the droids you are looking for..." - They are just giving hints about her. The first half of the first episode I nearly stopped watching it, but it gets better.

Battlestar Galactica Discussion IV with Blood And Chrome
Dynaman replied to 505thAirborne's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
At one point the show drags, and you figure it lost it's magic, KEEP watching or you will miss some of the best episodes of the whole thing. Then it drags again, but once again just slog on through, it is worth it.- 698 replies

He said "Involved", that does not mean he has a VA part... (it's another tease, like when cereal companies claim their stuff is made using real food - simply because the employees ate real food while boxing up the rat turds). Even if he does do the Rick Hunter part, it will probably consist of him telling the Mars Expidition (or whichever one it is) to go to Earth, part done.

Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series
Dynaman replied to BoBe-Patt's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
After the first two movies he had pretty much complete control over the movies - and he is convinced he can do dialog for some reason. Luckily for him someone else rewrote his original Star Wars dialog (watching the actors in their screen tests is cringe worthy - not due to their acting but the dialog), and then doubly lucky that someone else directed Empire Strikes Back.- 1217 replies

Nope - your just realizing that Lucas is a *GREAT* big picture man, and sucks at writing dialog or character interaction.- 1217 replies

AKIRA LIVE ACTION MOVIE = Life Support?
Dynaman replied to Macross007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've played the original and it's expansions, very nice game. Some similarity to Akira, but not much. Hidden research into paranormal ability is really about it. Without the amazing colossal growing Tetsuo it is hard to make a direct comparison. -
At this point the LAM would be viewed as a Transformers ripoff by the general public anyway. Chances of it doing well at the box office are about zilch. That, more then anything else, is my guess for why it is not getting made (and let's face it Tobey is no longer an A list star, upper B still, but not A)

(from Wikipedia) Iowa is in California and is available for donation New Jersey - like you said Missouri is in Hawaii Wisconsin - Norfolk VA [edit] - forgot, the ship in the Philly navy yard is a cruiser, I forget which. (although a BB may have been there for a short time). That is the best movie based on the game Battleship I have ever seen!

Yup, it is the dimension hopping equivalent of "The Time Travellers Wife"

I've watched the first 15 minutes of E's Otherwise, and I'm getting a bad feeling. Is it worth continuing on with it? -

CDs are not copy protected (generally - there have been attempts to make them protected), so you are not circumventing copy protection by making a copy - and thus avoiding the DMCA (which makes it illegal, more or less, to break copy protection, I'm not a lawyer, this is not legal advice, yada yada yada) The other major difference is you are NOT just copying something you bought - you bought a non-subtitled disk, by downloading a subtitled version you are technically getting something you did not pay for, if you somehow had seperate subtitles and a disk and managed to merge them yourself then that is OK (as long as you don't copy a copy protected disk by breaking the copy protection...) Short answer - yes it does since Japan and the US have mutual trade protection laws in place. Long Answer - there may be a loophole somewhere... -
AKIRA LIVE ACTION MOVIE = Life Support?
Dynaman replied to Macross007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
He is on the latest kick, the one where black roles can only be played by black actors, asian by asians, latinos by latinos - even if the role is rewritten for a caucasion. The same people do not seem to have any problem when caucasion roles are done by non-caucasion actors. I agree that if Kaneda is going to stay an asian in the US Akira (which is/was going to be in Neo New York) then he should be played by an asian actor. As an aside - nobody wants to see the atrocities you had picture of again, and lets not forget all the indians played by whites, or the worst case I can think of - Mexican Americans being played by white actors in the movie "Giant" (notable as worst for me since it had a subplot about racism...) Not all cases of people playing someone of a different background is bad though, let us not forget Vasquez (sp?) from Aliens. -

I would not have a problem with it and I doubt a studio is going to go after you, but it is technically not legal to do this (here in the US), it could be considered breaking the DMCA. -
If the fight between Dread Pirate Roberts and Inigo was not realistic, well then, reality is just going to have to change.
