  1. I thought the second film was going to be the battle with Smaug, and the third film filler between "The Hobbit" and LOTR. (and battle of five armies? I forget that part of the Hobbit, can't remember if I read it in the book or just heard about it elsewhere)
  2. To quote Inigo Montoya "I do not think that word means what you think it means..."
  3. The problem is that they have WAY too much going on at once, just like Star Trek they are going to end up flooding the market with too much - not every movie can have a top notch script and when pushing out 3 or 4 into the production pipeline at once, well, some are going to suffer. I seriously doubt they are going to make use of the oppurtunity, the bland nature of the proposed spinoff films is enough for me to not be hopeful. (An old republic movie, or something NOT directly related to any existing character would have been interesting)
  4. Syfy's way of killing things before they ever see the light of day.
  5. Watched the show last night, it would have made a good series. The CGI backgrounds did get annoying after a while (or perhaps it was the lense flare - there is a REASON it used to be taboo). Too bad Syfy axed the show before it ever even aired. The ads for the Defiance TV show looked good, no use getting excited though since the budget for that is never going to allow Syfy to keep it more then a season (two tops)
  6. When I compare it has to be Apples to Apples (first movie to first series). Both are great but for different reasons. Taken as a whole, yes the prequals stunk but Macross has it's 7 to answer for...
  7. Your right, the elevator went by part of it and that long hallway was the other part (or at least it was engineering, no telling what it was actually supposed to be...)
  8. A nuclear pile then. Closest real life thing. Even though it is singular it refers to many blocks or rods. Original warp core would have been one, and the name stuck when more then one was used. (why am I even going on, could be I'm just a nerd)
  9. No, just a BAD captain. we don't call and engine "engines" even though it has 4 or more cylinders...
  10. The Enterprise was not shot to bits in STIV either... (Unless you count the stock footage fromt ST3.) (sorry, couldn't resist)
  11. > Yes, but technically the D survived that battle. It was in Generations that it actually was destroyed. That *IS* the battle in Generations. Which Warbird battle are you thinking of? The one from "Yesterday's Enterprise"? Although they look like the old warbirds it is never mentioned if they are the old model or newer ones.
  12. Just read an article that Stallone's "Bullet to the Head" tanked at the box office, they said it is a bad omen for Bruce that Stallone's and Arnold's movies tanked. In the case of Stallone's film - I don't think I've ever even heard of it before seeing the box office returns today... All three are going to be netflix rentals for me.
  13. I only just thought of this. The episode where Misa is looking through the album takes place in the second season, which I thought was not originally planned. Was that scene originally intended to be somewhere else in the first season? Or did they make it fit in later on?
  14. As actually shown, no. in previews for the next 2199 disc there is a creature that appears in Harlock showing up, and the lady with it looks a lot like the female pirate - perhaps before she takes up piracy (or an ancestor). As Renegadeleader says, Harlock did show up in the Yamato manga. I don't think anyone would object to the two sets of models showing up side by side.
  15. The best thing about the Leijiverse is that it is one giant mess. There is no right or wrong place to start and no cannon version of a character. It is kind of like Bugs Bunny cartoons (*), Bugs and pals stay the same even though they are in totally different backgrounds half the time. (*) - I don't use this example in a bad way, it is just the best I can come up with.
  16. For those of us wanting Yamato models without a lot of funds to spend, some (all?) of the old inexpensive Yamato kits are available again. Some (including Yamato) as low as $2 in US fund (180 yen) https://secure.hlj.com/scripts/hljlist?GenreCode2=Sci&Word=Yamato&DisplayMode=images&Dis=2&Sort=std&qid=8U7A1BB762V7&z=GenreCode2&set=1&q=1&SeriesID2=1902
  17. If he did it would not make any difference, the movie was done filming months before release. The only reason the "I am your father" line was kept under wraps was that the line was dubber in later - only Hamill, James Earl Jones, Lucas, and maybe a select few others knew what was really said.
  18. Redesigns - we don't even know what timeframe the movie will take place. If I had to guess it would be 30 years or so after the original trilogy, and other then the Falcon just about every other ship should updated by then anyway. Of course replacing all those old Star Destroyers is probably still under way...
  19. I plan to watch it if it looks decent. If I had to bet though it would still be on it never getting done.
  20. The guns are on both sides like that? It's even worse then the other one. At least all the guns on that one could fire at targets in most directions.
  21. Saw my first post on another site (miniatures page, about miniature wargaming) calling it a "Macross" movie, I set them straight. I'm looking forward to the movie, even though the designs will not be Macross related (don't think they can get away with that) - I like the boxy Mospeada deisgns myself (not as much as the Macross designs, but I still like them) > Wing Commander the motion picture bad That was a decent movie, not great, but decent.
  22. I have to agree with Keith, that thing is is just ugly.
