  1. They still only show the part of the movie that is exciting, what is the other 1.5 hours of film like?
  2. Being a truly talented straight man is NOT as easy as it may seems.
  3. I've been ignoring this thread thinking it was some kind of fanfic joke. This is the DUMBEST idea ever...
  4. To be fair NO (see I got it in there...) version of Frankenstein has been like the book. I have not read it (on the list) but I heard that the creature starts out tall and handsome rather then a horrible monster. The idea of basing a movie off the graphic novel rather then the actual source, sounds lame. Doesn't help that I am REALLY tired of all the movies based off comic books these days. I'm make an exception for Watchmen, but comic books are second rate storytelling.
  5. > Because why build a story around a ship that can warp great distances, then throw that object in over half way through and 1/4 of the way into the round trip? The Yamato can warp within the galaxy, but going clear across to another one is a different story. In the original they just went and did the long warp one episode (which begs the question, why didn't they do it earlier? After a test warp or two?). In this one they did not do that since they couldn't. A little better internal consistancy. That and I think there is going to be more of the plot revolving around the device and those who made it coming up.
  6. > and the MacGuffin of the Not really a MacGuffin, it makes a heck of a lot more sense then the original.
  7. > Hollywood makes movies for the overseas audience these days. It's their fail safe for flops. Their will def. be a sequel or two. I wouldn't count on it. Overseas sales are expected to PAD the numbers and kick in that extra bit of profit, if a movie does not AT LEAST pay for itself in US tickets sales it is a very long shot for a follow up.
  8. Well, just saw it. It is NOT as bad as the reviews make it out to be, but I wouldn't call it good either. My review. Some of this is mildly spoilerish... Tonto - People calling it "Red Face" ignore the fact that the rest of the Comanche in the picture say he is bonkers to begin with. Frankly since everyone is a bad caricature to begin with singleing out tonto is PC gone bad. Length - Biggest flaw, the movie is just too long. Ending - Only really fun part of the movie is the end - and most of that is from hearing the William Tell Overture. Lone Ranger - Who cares about the masked man, and since EVERYONE knows who he really is what is the point of the mask? And finally to damn the movie with faint praise, it was better then PotC 4, but not by much.
  9. I don't think we have to worry too much, the original Yamato / Star Blazers did a great job for the time. They got rid of most of the on-screen death and renamed the ship - other then that it was kept intact. Looks like they are re-using the name changes (I can live with that), most likely they will not chop out anything this time - I take that from the Yamato 3 dub where they kept that in (I think, I couldn't watch past the first episode or two, the VAs were that bad)
  10. > but they had a real Indian for Tonto. As a member of an Eastern tribe, that is in some ways even worse then using a white actor for the part. Unless Tonto was supposed to be an Eastern tribe indian forced to live out west. Nothing against Jay Silverheels though, from what little I have seen of him he seemed to be a decent man making a living. (sort of like Hattie McDaniel when criticized for playing a maid, her response "I'd rather play a maid then be one")
  11. Wife wants to see this - so going on Sunday. I'll let everyone know what I think. As for the RedFace, considering what these guys did to the Pirate Genre, what more did anyone expect?
  12. Some dinosaurs had two "brains", one in the head and one in the tail. The theory I had read was that they were large enough that a signal from the head would take too long to reach the tail (before something bit it, etc...). Since modern whales are larger then any Dinosaur ever was I call phooey on that.
  13. > Terrorist tortures President and Cabinet into revealing access codes for all nuclear silos so they can self-destruct them and nuke the entire country: CHECK Unless they managed that within about 5 seconds it would not have done them a lick of good, I doubt it would have done any good within 5 seconds either. As soon as anyone knows that the president was kidnapped those codes would have been changed. Then again, why am I trying to apply logic to this I don't know...
  14. I would not be concerned based on anything in that "article" at any rate. Basically it is a bunch of people saying things about the process rather then anything about the film in particular. Looks like a piece someone puts together on a REALLY slow news day. That said, I personally think this may be a flop - but the buzz around me has been positive so far.
  15. Your not the only one, I love that show.
  16. I don't think we have to worry about another big budget Will Smith and kid thing again., plus Will not being in this one (so far). Have to agree on furballs, need more of that.
  17. I vote for this version of Optimus Prime. http://www.blastr.com/2013-6-24/optardis-prime-greatest-thing-3-d-printer-has-made-so-far
  18. Just saw the movie last night, although I'm happy I waited to rent it on Netflix it was a solid B movie. All the FX could have been done old school (not saying they were, just that none of them were so over the top that they could not have been done with traditional methods). The plot, acting, and dialog were solid B movie fare and it never seemed to drag. So I recommend it as a rental. (if one were to actually break down the plot it would make no sense at all - just go with the flow) one thing I have to mention
  19. It does not - roughly half the book is in the third season. There is also some stuff in the later books that makes it into the third season as well though. (on the fifth book now)
  20. I liked the time hopping, I don't think I could have kept awake through another Superman growing up sequence. The flashbacks made the background bearable. The 79 (or so) Zod was a doofus compared to this one, a cardboard cutout bad guy. The fights in this one did last too long but at least they did not look cheesy - like the ones in Superman 2 (FX just were not up to the job back then)
  21. The voices for Grant and Lunk were established well before this show, having the VA change either one would be a problem. Having them in the same episode - also a problem. Similar thing goes for Scott Bernard's Fiance and Lisa Hayes, which might be one reason why Lisa did not make an appearance in Shadow Chronicles. Good thing HG does not have the ability to use later Macross series or THIS might actually have come to pass... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkHBh5x8GOg
  22. > Actually, the first film was rather accurate, even if certain... "liberties" were taken with the details. Some of those liberties include. 1 - Ignoring the hundreds/thousands of allies the Spartans had. (thousands if including everyone on their side at the battle, hundreds if just including those in the rear guard) 2 - Making them nearly naked, they wore heavy armor. 3 - They fought in a formation called a phalanx, if they had fought as depicted in the movie they would have been annihilated in minutes. A movie CAN be totally unrealistic and fun (Inglorious Bastards and Dirty Dozen come to mind) but 300 was nothing but garbage. Trying to take it serious at ALL is a very bad idea.
  23. 300 was garbage, no suprised to see they are making more. (garbage that is)
