AKIRA LIVE ACTION MOVIE = Life Support?
Dynaman replied to Macross007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
If that were used as the live action movie version I would not object, have to be painted red of course. Obviously it would not even remotely pass as the "real" one but the lines on it are reminiscent of it. -
AKIRA LIVE ACTION MOVIE = Life Support?

That was pretty good, makes me want to break out the DVD again. -
Perhaps this show will have some flashbacks to Clone Wars showing the fate of Ashoka. (how ever you spell it).

I use chrome for a browser and it asks to translate, usually, when needed. Without it I would have been lost on that page. Really too bad it can't translate the text rendered as an image.

Terminator 5/Terminator: Genisys, opening July 1, 2015
Dynaman replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
> Arnold at his old age is probably better playing as a good guy not the bad guy Read something the other day where Arnold's terminator has been around for awhile, while the internal bits do not age the skin on the outside does - that is a clever way of handling it. As for the terminators in T2 without skin - I always considered them the monkey models, made simply for straight up combat so no need to wrap them up in skin. The infiltration models are still around.- 508 replies

His is the only bad reaction I have seen to 2199, my own personal opinion is that it is better then the original in every way. For Macross, I just want to see a new series, remake, new, whatever, it is all good.
-
Just finished watching it and I confirm that it "is not the best but not that bad". Most of the voices are a decent match with the exception of Okita - the actor did a decent job but the voice just didn't match up. Funny thing - the over acting does not seem so noticable with the English dub... Finally - the Blue Ray picture quality is spectacular.

Oh my, that is terrible.

There was a US version? Any links? This I would like to see (well, not really)
-
I've gotten to the point where I wait a season to watch many shows.
-
I lost the link but Flash Gordon was just picked up again (not Syfy channel, one of the bigger movie studies). Perhaps Flash should get his very own thread?

Non-Japanese human characters in the Macross franchise?
Dynaman replied to Saruta's topic in Movies and TV Series
You've been here long enough to know better then that... -
Is the English dub any good? Doesn't really matter since I'll be buying it either way but it is nice to be able to watch without trying to read subtitles during action sequences.

the rest of that "restore balance" thing probably was "Man has upset the balance of nature..."

In many ways investing is much like Charity, in my opinion. Hence why kickstarter is more like an investment- no guarantee of delivery and no legal recourse if no delivery is made, short of being able to prove it was a scam rather just bad/incompetent business practice. If you pre-order something and no delivery is made you must be refunded, that does not apply to an investment.
-
NO, it is not. Kickstarters are more of an investment - you send them money with the promise that they will produce what they say, and by kickstarter's rules they do have to attempt to do so. The problem is that by law it is neither a proper pre-order system where laws covering consumer rights apply NOR a proper investment system where laws covering investments apply. I'm an old fart, back in the day pre-production models were usually NICER then the final product. Plus I have not seen anything from that particular game company that would tend to make believe them at face value.

True, compared to the books the show has actually cut down on the sex quite a bit. Usually I am something of a prude but in this case I think the TV show strikes a decent balance.

They might, but one of the hallmarks of the Peanuts cartoons is that they DID use children for the voices. Personally I think it would be a big mistake not to continue doing so. If they do go with VAs then they most likely will get the best though.

I don't care what it is, I'll watch it ASAP.

They can't use any of the older voice actors any longer (other then snoopy and Woodstock) since they were always done by children - most likely they are not "voice" actors capable of sounding like their old selves. That said the original Charlie Brown voice might be free about this time... Peanuts films have been hit or miss over the years (the original two being great and the others from OK to dreadful) so hopefully this is a good one.

I have to say they are terrible. Seams that you could stick a coin in are not a good sign.

If this do this then maybe there is a chance for the Robotech movie after all.

Miniatures are meant to be handled, A LOT, unlike models which are meant to be put together and admired but not moved around a lot. Lots of parts on a miniature is going to cause it to break very quickly when in use.

I used to give Arnie a pass and see his movies on release, and then came "End of Days" and "The Sixth Day". So not ALL Arnie movies are worth seeing. I sure hope this one is though! The Last Stand was a decent movie so I have hope.
