  1. > The thing with his organic right hand could have been used as a Chekov's Gun during the climax at the helipad, making it more dramatic. That really bugged me at the end. In the ending of the original everyone was thinking "How is Robo going to get past that 4th directive?" and at least *I* did not see it coming BUT it was so logical... The ending to this Robo was the standard sheer willpower is all you need. The less said about Samuel L Jackson't character the better, I'm of the political persuasion that would agree the source of the character needs to be mocked - but that was terrible.
  2. Saw it last night, I am VERY glad I only rented it on Netflix rather then wasting money to see it at the theater. Throw away all of the twisted charm of the original and replace it with that overly preachy crap Samuel Jackson had to drivel out and you end up with Robocop 2014. Ugh. It took way too long for Murphy to "die", the new ideas put in to replace the old ones fell flat, and the redone versions of the original scenes were just boring. Part of what made the original Robocop work was the over the top nature of it, by trying to make this one more "realistic" they ruined it. If I had to choose between this and anything other then the original Robocop, that would be a tough one, the only movie series to tank quicker then Robocop was Highlander...
  3. Just in case it has not been mentioned, Sharknado is getting the Rifftrax treatment this Thursday. http://www.fathomevents.com/event/rifftrax-live-sharknado
  4. I don't think the studio has high expectations for the movie, August is usually reserved for second tier releases. Though it is August first rather then later in the month so not quite in "Expendables" release time frame. My wife and I both plan on seeing it in Imax though.
  5. That is a darn big lifeboat. As I said, I am only two episodes in - the actual speed the ship can go (does it take years/decades/days/etc. to go from star to star) determines the need to conserve water or not. There is no indication of what that is from the first two episodes.
  6. I have not seen how long it takes the ship to get from star to star but in most shows it is a matter of weeks at most - anybody with that level of technology can get all the drinking water they ever wanted without ever touching a planet.
  7. Syfy's news feed has an article on this, notice the picture they use... http://www.blastr.com/2014-7-7/studio-turns-crowdfunding-get-new-robotech-series-ground
  8. That is not a fetish, that is quite common in this type of scifi. Save potable water in any form. (of course in space water is one of the easiest things to come by)
  9. The line spoken in the anime did not specify. The character said when finding a partner a sex could be chosen, did not say it was a one shot. It could mean a one shot deal or at will.
  10. I first saw it sometime in the late eighties, sadly it was the "Clash of the Bionoids version:. I saw an unsubbed version sometime in the early nineties.
  11. I don't know if there is a word for it, the character mentions being able to switch at will so not asexual as such.
  12. They are allowed to use Macross characters in non-animated merchandise. A comic book in this case counts as spin-off type merchandise.
  13. Watched the first two episodes, I like it so far - just not the character designs- far too washed out and flat shaded for me. As for the bear, if they have a true hermaphrodite running around due to genetic manipulation (and photosynthesizing people) then a bear is not such a big deal... (not a spoiler since the mention that in the first episode)
  14. Just found it and put it in my list, no time to watch more then a few minutes (up till the hero walks out of the training pod). Looks interesting though.
  15. Promise of getting made, as in a if they make the kickstarter and take money then they have to do make the show. (actually technically they just have to make the attempt). It has been done for other shows so it is not an invalid method of funding.
  16. I know it is big on this board to roast anything RT related but this one actually has promise. Funding has always been there problem (even when they swear a title went gangbusters...) and if this gets funded then that is one excuse out of the way. NOTE - *I* am not backing this, then again I don't back ANY kickstarters.
  17. I did, came up with no matches, Knights alone came up with two, Sidonia on its own came up with zilch. Will try again later, strange things happen with the netflix cooked into my TV.
  18. It did not show up when I searched for it, trying again today...
  19. I liked Looper but - it was not Star Wars like in any way. One good thing about the ST films JJ directed is that he put a bit of SW into ST. Hopefully the director of Looper can switch to the more banter driven dialog and pace of Star Wars.
  20. I'll wait for it to come out on DVD here. The description sounds like a grade school social studies project.
  21. For the Angel Winged humans check out "Frankenstein Unchained". They had the budget to pull it off. The movie itself is a horrible stinking mess though. The wings on Dominion are pretty good if I remember correctly.
  22. I think it is serving the true purpose of the show then... As for layout, most likely you are over thinking the whole thing.
  23. That was painful to watch. So horribly cheesy.
  24. Only real problem for me was the Captain NOT knowing the real mission - that NEVER happens. Other then that I let the rest slide since it is good drama so far. EDIT - only thing that bugged me that was even under no emissions the ship would still have received transmissions.
