Me, I hate it. It is one thing to be there and not shoved in my face but this was lame.

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time II: The Quickening
Dynaman replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Watched "War of the Worlds: Goliath" last night and it deserves a mention on this thread (I was thinking of listing it on the current anime thread but it REALLY deserves to be here). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2320924/ Highlights I think they managed to fit in every possible cliche. The animation second rate (though some of the effects were nicely done). The dialog was crap. The character designs were of Shadow Chronicles quality. If you are going to have Teddy Roosevelt at least make the character act a little bitty bit like him.- 854 replies

And it was a masterpiece compared to Frankenstein: Unchanged. Gawd that was terrible.

They might be serious but it still looks pretty bad. Wife wants to see it so a little mindless mayhem is in my future.

I liked Stealth as well, certainly not academy award material but not as bad as any of the Transformers movies...- 854 replies

I doubt that scaffolding is for a full size mockup - there is scaffolding where there should be no Falcon (between where the front protrusions are). If that scaffolding was for a full scale Falcon that particular bit would not be there. Having more then one full size models (or bits of models) is not unusual either. It allows one to be damaged for example.

That is the first time I remember seeing wood on the top of the Yamato (except the real one of course). That would not fare too well in space. (OK, so I love Galaxy Express too and a train doesn't belong in space either - no matter what handwavium excuse is given)

No. I'll still go see it (tanks, WWII...) but that trailer makes me wary. Pathetic love interest, please... Busted Sherman holding a crossroads, not a chance.

I see this series is now on Netflix streaming. Did someone say so earlier and I missed it? Anyway, something new to watch!

Went and saw it on Saturday, even the running sequence wasn't so bad in Imax. The audio for the Vietnam battle sequence were fantastic.

I don't know how well the Yamato movie did in Japan, in the US Starblazers was a cult favorite at best though. But I'm a charter member...

Well they have to get it out now, before that other anime movie... Back to reality, I didn't think it would get this far and would love to see it get made - even if it ends up being a stinker.

Nobody knows (I would doubt it though). But you can't have a discussion about Star Wars without them.

The WEG Star Wars game was a great system for playing a Star Wars based RPG (I still have the main rules, guide to the empire, and Star Warriors), but the idea of using one's tongue for controller anything is just a really bad idea.

Even if the new design did not have the eyeballs the stormtrooper helmets are a terrible design, seeing anything out of them even with the wrap around view is nearly impossible. Unless they are supposed to be sensors rather then eye holes. I've had paintball goggles with better vision and it is still extremely limited.

I'm fairly certain it was picked up early for a second season. I had to stop watching it after episode 3, I can handle it when Star Trek has Kirk go on all the away team missions - it was a lot tougher sell with a US Navy ship captain. What really turned me off was when they Captain and a crewmen or two go back and take on a village full of armed men - when they could quickly and easily have gone back to the ship to get backup... (oh - and NOT checking up on a "friendly" radio signal in any way)

I can't argue with the cartoon being better but Patrick Warburton was BORN to play the Tick.
-
I don't even know who Bad Horse and the ELE are... The Tick Live action show was a low budget affair - that has more to do with the character design then anything I would think. Hopefully if Amazon does pick it up (not Netflix, ooops) they spend a little more cash on the production.
-
Not sure if it goes here(*), being Netflix rather than network TV but "The Tick" live action show might (emphasis on might...) be getting new life on Netflix. http://www.cnet.com/news/the-tick-live-action-series-to-return-on-amazon/ (*) Maybe the remakes thread, I looked for "the tick" but didn't get any hits.

Not till after December I would imagine, that is when the Gatlantis based movie is supposed to be coming out.
