That is great, the attention to the details of the old Filmation jerky animation and film smudges being icing on the cake. Did they get the same guy who did the Star Trek the Next Generation by Filmation to do these?

The first one was a fun little romp and I have Netflix anyway, so I'll watch it.

At this point I think she is more a "glue" character that holds the old Skywalker centric Star Wars together with the non-Skywalker future (there are none left after all - I don't count Rey as a Skywalker). We will see if she ends up being everywhere. As for her personality, in Clone Wars and Rebels the largest part of her personality was as a foil to Annakin/Vader, basically she is the Annakin that does not turn into Vader). They have not given her any real existence outside of being that foil yet. Your correct though, they need to get her some personality.

Cool. I liked the first two, they had the stupid eighties vibe I missed. The third one I did not even bother to watch. This one looks to be back on track.

Lets see if they ignore the time portal entirely. Time travel is something that should only be added, to a show that is not specifically about it, after much thought. If after that thought the writers still want to add it in they better hope their future selves come back and tell them what a can of worms they are opening. If shows are lucky (Star Trek) they can get away with it - but it still leaves massive contradictions no writer can normally hope to cover.

Yup, most of the interrogation episodes were hokey as heck, but the one with Sheridan was genius. It showed actual mind games an interrogation would actually try.

Bruce Lee was a "presence". A show about him but without him just isn't going to cut it.

Disney+ TV Series, movies, animation,specials
Dynaman replied to Old_Nash's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Amazon streaming is a disaster when it comes to finding content. I own "Scrooge" with Albert Finney. When I looked it up two years back it only "found" one that I had not purchased with a very similar name (same movie, they just released it again with a slightly different title). So I bought it a second time under the new title (thinking I may have mis-remembered buying it there). The same BS has occurred with other titles but now I know I bought them, the problem is finding them through their purposely obtuse search function. Disney+ at least I can find what I am looking for. -

We had cable from nearly as far back as I can remember when cable was channels 2-13, 2 was public access if anything at all (usually nothing but community notes) and 13 was always fuzz (wonder why it was even there but no internet back in the day to look it up). No till HBO was any of it ad free. -

Don't think the taking content off the site is STRICTLY about non-performing titles. I'm wondering how long it will be till titles are shuffled on and off the services on a rotating basis. Till then I am thinking more and more of rotating through services throughout the year. -
I doubt Dan knows though, he has not been on in those 18 years according to the user page. On the other hand a mention for Forbidden Planet never goes out of date (at least so far)

'Pee-wee Herman' actor Paul Reubens dead at 70
Dynaman replied to pengbuzz's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The best quote I heard about him, about Pee Wee really, was something like "he was completely wholesome, and completely subversive". I think that summed it up perfectly. RIP and thanks for the laughs! Tell Large Marge hello for me. -
It is hard to work up much enthusiasm when all you can actually see is a director making stupid faces... As for the Choppy, choppy as in apparently running 60fps but only animating 20fps and messing up the tweening at that.
-
Was the Kaiju movement really choppy for anyone else (other shots seemed fine). I forgot he could breath fire too.

When I think "Tron" Bruce's character does not register at all. It is the overall look and feel that matters. I'd say that probably covers a lot of people but Tron is still a niche property.

Those ships break the rule of cool though, they are lame...
-
The thing I don't like about the ship (and the other vertical ones like it - only one coming to mind was Spock's ship from Star Trek 2009 but I know there are other SW examples) are that they make no sense. Why design something that has to go through such shenanigans to land when it gives no benefit?

I've been in computer programming for decades now, every few years a new "coderless" scheme comes along and it never works. The reason is that a coder does not just write code, a coder (if they are worth anything) knows how to figure out exactly what needs to be asked to get the solution the client wants. The same is true for this technology, so far it has rendered very nice adaptations of things people have already done but nothing new.

We bought it on one of the streaming services. Not bad but they did drag the plot through too much run time.

Marvel Studios TV Shows and Animation on Disney+
Dynaman replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
TV and movies will not be going away anytime soon, the distribution method may (almost certainly will) change however. Eventually the new way of doing so profitably (enough) will come along. Just like it did with the music industry a couple decades ago.- 1461 replies

Marvel Studios TV Shows and Animation on Disney+
Dynaman replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Leaving Ms Marvel and She Hulk out since I didn't even watch them and may never do so - which in and of itself may be an indicator of the problem Disney is facing (and not because *I* in particular didn't watch them), the other shows were all at least decent and to expect more from every (or even most) of the shows is expecting far too much. That is the gist of the problem, too little new content and people will unsubscribe due to not having a beneficial cost/ratio while too much content may keep people subscribed but it costs too much to make all that for just a streaming release.- 1461 replies
