I had a philosophy professor who told us to try to prove to him a door was not alive, it was an interesting lesson on when to leave a conversation topic alone...

Then you should not have put in this paragraph in your previous response.

I'm thinking your overthinking it. Some writer heard the term War College, thought it meant college, and threw it in.

Star Wars Maul - Shadow Lord, 2026 on D+
Dynaman replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Since it is an animated show I'll compare it to the animated shows so far. At least the trailer looks good and they didn't try to make Maul a hero (protagonist yes but it does not appear they did to him what happened to Boba Fett). The animation detail has come a considerable way as well. SO, since I still have D+ I'll be watching it.- 29 replies

A trailer for a trailer? About as fun as being made to watch ads youtube when watching a trailer for a movie...- 29 replies

That has disaster written all over it. It was bad enough when the Bob Iger DID quit (kinda)...

Sounds like what I was expecting... I did watch the first 15 minutes or so of that Section 31 dreck - I'm not even going to bother watching that much of a new Trek show without some good recommendations and that ought to scare the powers that be at Paramount (not me personally, but that so many former Trekkies like myself will no longer make it a point to watch new Trek).

Star Wars Merchandising is based off the movies being popular. All of that will dry up if the movies don't start making big profits again. I am NOT one of those culture war crybabies. But the new trilogy characters are all completely forgettable. That is a problem. Last I checked Dave had nothing to do with the movies (except perhaps that Clone Wars animated mess that started the whole thing off). The movies are where things went off the rails.

So, has anyone watched this yet (and will admit to having done so)? I'm not inclined to watch it but if someone here says it was great I'll give it a look. Not saying it is bad, but 90210 was all the rage and I had no interest in it. Same for Survivor or America's Got Talent (when everyone at work was shocked I'd never seen it and to this day I never have)

Going to disagree. Star Wars IS the movies. The other stuff was a way to milk money out of the movies. The president of the studio very much deserves the blame when the product does so poorly (at the end) that the studio has to stop producing movies completely for years. Does she get the blame for any particular thing that went wrong, no, but any president of a company that had a product mishandled so badly gets the blame for who they kept in charge during that time frame.

She may not have been heavily involved creatively but at least some of the mess was caused by not enough control from the top in regards to the sequel trilogy. Normally it is too much control but in this case they had two directors purposely contradicting each other.

Unless the announcement has been changed there are no planned changes to RotR. Other areas of the land will receive a slight naming change and OT characters will be walking around. I do hope that Rise of the Resistance is rebranded to Rise of the Rebellion one day. As for this coming to DW, I just saw Mando and Grogu walking around the Hollywood Studios Star Wars land and they were only originally announced for Disney Land as well. This is something Disney can't afford to not have at their biggest park.

I always liked the VOTOMS designs but have not watched the anime since I think it would feel too dated now. I'll have to give this one a watch.

YUP! You can easily trace that back to "Disco Beaver from outer space"!

Star Trek Music Video: "Carbon Disco"

I only clicked through most of it and mostly it was nobodies in Trek cosplay rather than AI. Still horrible though (which is why I clicked past the vast majority of it)
