  1. The ones I used to use regularly slowly died off. Mailing list wise I am still on a few and get the surprise email from them a few times a year. Sadly the "new shiny" syndrome has kicked in for all them and people just disappear.
  2. I was going to say give me serious Godzilla or give me nothing, then I remembered how much I loved The smog monster and Jet Jaguar and even that little Godzilla (whatever the heck the name of it actually is).
  3. That reminds me - whatever happened to the Segway? For regular people it was mostly a waste but for the disabled it could have been modified and be a massive help. Those in wheelchairs might have been able to "stand" and "walk" with it and thus be able to go a lot more places. (like that chair in an anime, the CGI Harlock maybe)
  4. The predator species is far more technologically advanced than humanity and clearly consider us nothing more than dangerous game. The ones who have to prove themselves would be the humans - and learn the predator language. The predators probably have computers translate everything for them just like we are very close to having now.
  5. Since a similar scale plastic model goes for $100 these days that is not bad. Not enough room to store it sadly or I would be tempted.
  6. THAT is exactly what I am talking about.
  7. The problem with discord is the lack of threaded conversations. It all ends up in one big jumble. I hate that. Old message boards could get away with that since there were far fewer people on them. (I think there was an option to view conversations in a threaded manner but I don't remember it doing much) The problem with social media sites (all of them I am aware of) is they work best by fueling anger - things that make you angry get pumped to your feed in ever greater numbers. Unlike the old days of mass media the companies doing this are not held responsible for content that appears on their site. Partly due to the laws shielding them early in the nineties and partly due to claiming it is just an "algorithm".
  8. It looks interesting but I am not a fan of the animation style. Still I'll be giving it a watch when it comes to the US.
  9. Aliens and Alien 3 are great examples. The crappiness of A3 (or any of the other piles of garbage after) in no way diminished Alien or Aliens. Does anyone here think the original Superman movie is in any way diminished by the dreck of Superman 3?
  10. The difference an original fictional work is in NO WAY lessened by a future movie (or book or TV season, etc...). A "good" person found to really be a despicable person is an entirely different thing.
  11. You should get a chance at seeing that "soon". This looks like a good finish to the series (and sadly my Netflix subscript along with it most likely - I've not watched much of anything on it the past few months)
  12. I really don't understand the idea that a sequel can make someone dislike the original. ( I was going to write more but that sentence really covers it all)
  13. Or that Enterprise toy/model. I don't have that kind of free cash for any of them.
  14. I love the Eagle but $540?! OW!
  15. The first thing they would have to ask is how to maximize profits. With the movie business still going through the fallout from Covid and the unrelated drop off in Superhero box office (I think the drop off in Superhero movie take was due soon anyway) I'm not sure anyone can answer that. From what I hear those that have actually seen the movie said it was decent and worth seeing at the theater - but getting people out to a movie takes more than that now.
