I only knew him from his Starfire books which were solid entertainment - casually based on a really fun board wargame. Rest in Peace.

At this point anyone needing an origin movie for Superman - is not going to see a Superman movie anyway. Planning on seeing it next weekend, no other big releases coming up till the 25th so hopefully still in Imax, a regular theater if not.

Not worth any more arguments. EXCEPT - Bring up anything in Last Jedi is counterproductive. That movie was a train wreck from start to finish. (and I'll say no more on that either)

B5 had an entire episode (granted not one of their best, or even a very good one) that followed a couple of maintenance men around the station.

No they are not - anyone with any idea where Yavin 4 is should be kept on Yavin 4 or going no futher than a collection point where they pick up and pilot other starships to Yavin from those collection points. Anyone going anywhere else should have no idea where the rebel base is, only the collection points. As for the spoiled rich politicians, sure they could all say they have to know where the base is - but in any realistic universe at all that would have meant instant doom to keep that secret. Star Wars could get away with bad logic like that(*) since as Harrison Ford reportedly said to Mark Hamill "It ain't that kind of movie kid". Andor was trying to be that kind of series. (*) - Leia should never have had the Falcon go straight from the DT to Yavin, they could have had those plans studied anywhere and the Empire would not find the Yavin base (which Leia knew they were doing from her own dialog).

1 - Who come and go FAR too freely. Those who actually know the location should have been kept on a very tight leash. 2 - They should have known it exists but not where it is. They are always one step away from being caught. They should also have insisted they not know where the base is. The base also should have had a code name they used instead of "Yavin base". 3 - Those two get a pass even though they were also one step away from getting caught. They were the ones who knew everything (and somebody like that always exists) 4 - He gets a pass too, since he is just a nut. A far more capable nut then the rest of the Rebels too. Andor gets great marks for making more complex characters then Star Wars has had before (Lucas tried with Anakin and boy did he blow it) but it also needs to take the lumps for items where it is lacking. Last note - Even with the minor problems more stories like this is what Star Wars needs right now. Stories about the average(ish) people in the SW universe.

Finally finished watching Andor it is holds up well. The only problem I really had with it is that everyone and their uncle knew that Yavin was the location of the rebel base, for the Empire not to have found out is beyond belief. Things others have brought up too (like the woeful security at the Senate) were more momentary so easier to ignore. It is Hollywood though so not a deal breaker on an otherwise well written show, nuanced characters being very hard to come by in Star Wars.

The warning is a little late. AMC theaters where I am had ads and trailers lasting that long before Covid. (not every film, but a few certainly did)

This might be closer to the original book but the trailer really doesn't catch my interest. And there is NO beating the combo of Arnold and Richard Dawson. And the lady saying Arnold was "one mean mother..."

SPACEBALLS 2: The Search for More Money?
Dynaman replied to TangledThorns's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I would have been excited for this if not for that dreadful History of the World show. If it gets good reviews I may see it at the theater but will probably be waiting for netflix, amazon, etc... -
I have a feeling it is going to transition to a new series following Kirk and the Enterprise. Or perhaps going to movies.

Post Skywalker Saga Star Wars Movies
Dynaman replied to jvmacross's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Heck, it is far above Return of the Jedi, which is where the Rot really started. Personally I have a hard time choosing between it or the original Star Wars as the number 2 film in the entire franchise. Star Wars has the benefit of being a phenomenon that really sucked me in to science fiction (*) but really doesn't hold up as an incredible movie. * I remember seeing an ad for SW around Christmas and thinking it was just another silly science fiction movie - after the following summer I never had that pre-conceived notion about scifi again, though there were PLENTY of garbage scifi movies post SW of course.- 393 replies
