    Macross 30

Any reviews of the guide book yet? Wanna know if it's worth getting? If it's got a lot of mecha pics n mecha lineart, I'll buy. If it's mostly just text, I won't Graham
  2. Definitely buying the Blu-ray, but a little disappointed there's no PS3 Hybrid game, especially as the models for the YF-19, YF-21, SDF-1 and Ghost X-9(?) are already done in M30. Graham
  3. Interestingly enough, I'm the opposite. I find the VF-17 far easier to transform than the VF-171. For me the VF-171 is a PITA. Both great looking toys though. Graham
  4. No, nobody knows anything firm at this point in time. Graham
  5. At the moment everything is still just rumor and speculation. We don't know exactly what happened to Yamato and we don't know what will happen with Arcadia. Yes Yamato had some very cool stuff planned, which I hope eventually may still get made, but I'm not holding my breath and I'm not overly optimistic either. Graham
  6. "No officer, it's not what you think. I was just polishing some plastic that's all" LOL. Graham
  7. While I love the game, I'm not a huge fan of the races and have only tried a few. No real burning desire to spend much time on them either. Graham
  8. Started showing here in HK on Thursday 25th April. I'm gonna see it sometime early next week. Graham
  9. That is a pretty bird. Can't wait for mine to get here, but still no shipping notice from NY or CD-Japan The CF VF-171 definitely looks better without armour IMO. Graham
  10. Still think the 'No Step' markings being on the underside of the wing is hilarious. They didn't really think that one through Graham

    Macross 30

How is the guide book? Any line art of the YF-30 or good large pics of the mecha. I'll buy it if its good clear pics of Isamu's YF-29. Yes, I'm loving the game. Really enjoy trying to get as many kissls as I can in fighter mode. Just wish the ceiling was higher though. 46 hours into the game on my first play through and still only on story mission 5-2, as I'm spending most of my time on Hunter's Guild quests and flying around blowing stuff up And being OCD I have to tune up all the mecha I'v got (except the DLC YF-30, which I refuse to use as it's ugly). Graham
  12. I don't have the Konig yet, but I imagine it's just the normal D-pad transform controls. Graham
  13. Can't be cost, just give the blueprints and a few junk parts to Aisha and she'll hammer you out a VF-19 or VF-22 in seconds :P Graham
  14. The question in the original post seems to be referring more to the state of the franchise rather than the state of the fandom. For the state of the fandom, it certainly seems very healthy IMO. Certainly here on Macrossworld and before that on AFM, Macross has long had a very active, loyal and devoted fanbase. I have to say the, level of friendliness, helpfulness, knowledge, intelligence and maturity is the best I have ever seen on any forum. As for the state of the franchise, well, that's where I'm a bit concerned. There's no new TV series or movie on the hozizon (that we know of), The Macross 30 game has already been released, Yamato toys has folded, Bandai's toy output is sporadic and limited, I fear the YF-30 DX is vapourware. Hasegawa's output is drastically reduced (no news for ages on their VF-25 kit). I do fear that we are passing out of the golden period of Macross that we have been enjoying for the past decade. While we do have some new things on the horizon, such as the upcoming Bandai VF-1 kit and the ongoing expanded Chonicles, I fear we are slowly lapsing into a quieter time. Graham
  15. DYRL = best anime movie ever IMO. Graham
  16. If the released a cannon fodder VF-25, I'd buy 3. Graham
  17. But remember fold quartz is purple and the canopy was supposed to be coated in fold quartz. (as per Sketchley's translation of the Macross Chronicle YF-29 pages). Graham

    Japan bound toys

    Japan bound toys

If a Yamato toy was sold without the Big West licensor sticker then it was illegally produced and sold by the factory without the knowledge of Yamato or Big West. It is relatively common for factories in China to do this. Yamato would commission a factory to make say 5,000pcs for example and supply the factory with 5,000 Big West stickers. The factory would then secretly produce a few hundred extra pcs which they would sell wholesale through there contacts in the toy industry. Graham

    Japan bound toys

I've never noticed any difference in quality between toys bought in Japan and toys bought in Hong Kong. All Bandai and Yamato toys are made in factories in China before being shipped to the end desination, whether that be Japan or Hong Kong. Graham
  22. I'm just rewatching Frontier, probably for the 4th time and some episodes such as episode 12, Fastest Delivery still send shivers down my spine, they are just so good. Graham

    Macross 30

Had a big smile on my face the first time I ran into Isamu last night Graham
  24. I'd really recommend you watch Macross Frontier, it's a great anime. Start with the series then watch the 2 movies. After watching the anime, you may have a better idea of which Frontier mecha you like more and what to buy. Graham
