To be honest, I've found Bandai white plastic to yellow much faster than Yamato white plastic. I just pulled a v.1 Alto VF-25F out of a storage box in my closet where it's been stored away from sunlight. It was bright white when I packed it away several years ago, but now it's extremelly yellowed (I'll post pics later). By contrast my Yamato 1/48 VF-1A and VF-1S, stored in the same closet for even longer have only some very mild yellowing. I've had similar issues with other white Bandai toys I stored for several years, especially some of the older Victory Gundam toys from the mid-90's. Graham

So cool, I love that it has the names of all the Macross shows. I didn't notice that before. Graham

That is so cool that it has all the different Macross show names on it. I didn't notice that on the smaller pics shown before. Graham

What percentage of your Bandai Valks are scratched?
Graham replied to Lupin The Third's topic in Toys
Yes, most of the Bandai Frontier Valks have scratches on them. But to be honest, the scratches are so small and mostly only viewable under certain lighting conditions and at certain angles, that I don't notice them. Basically, unless I'm looking really closely and specifically looking for them, I'd never notice the scratches. So do these scratches spoil my enjoyment of the toy, no, not in the least. The self-losening hip and shoulder joints spoil me enjoyment far more. And it's nothing to do with "paying for cheap crap because it has the right branding". I buy these beacuse they are nicely designed, have great looking sculpts and I like the Frontier designs and Bandai is the only game in town as far as Frontier toys go. Graham -
Thanks Dio, that helps. I've also spent ages trying to match up the Japanese characters in the mission description with cave names, but without success. Graham

M7 would be safe enough, but there is no dubbed version that I know of, only subbed versions. Graham

They're should be a special place in hell for pranksters ;( Not happy and not funny. Making customs is great, but declaring it as official product is just evil, especially in the present uncertain situation Graham

Bandai 1/72 fully transform able VF-1 plastic kit for Macross 30th Ann
Graham replied to Vi-RS's topic in Model kits
Sorry, still think the FAST packs are way too small and way too far back compared with Kawamori's line art And would have preferred all the back and red trim to be molded on colors. Easy pass. I'll stick with my Yammies / Arcadias. Graham -
Even with your guide and also the Japanese guide book, I've still no idea where in the on-screen mission description that it tells you the the name of the dungeon or base to go to for the subjection quests. So with the subjection quests, I basically end up flying from dungeon to dungeon until I hit the right one by chance, which takes ages. If someone could at least let me know where on the on-screen mission description I should be looking to see the location, that would be great. I've tried for ages to match up the location name with on screen Japanese text, but never can. And yes, I freely admit to being stupid! Graham

For the Hunters Guild subjugation quests, it would be great if you could include the name of the dungeon or base where you need to go in the 'Clear Conditions' part of the table. Graham

Now I can't speak for Kawamori or Bandai, but I doubt Kawamori actually personally worked on the design. What happened with Yamato is that he would come in for a meeting , which often had to be booked weeks or months in advance (he's a very busy guy) and he would offer his advice, comments, suggestions etc on a toy design and he had final say on whether anything should be changed. Yamato would then make said changes and another appointment would be booked with Kawamori to seek his approval. Wash, rinse and repeat as necessary. I imagine things are much the same with Bandai. Music variety (or lack thereof) in Frontier
Graham replied to Saruta's topic in Movies and TV Series
What's this talk about lack of musical variety in Macross? Does not compute!?!?!? Graham -
There was nothing wrong with the old drones IMO. Graham

Damn auto correct on phone. Should have been "battroid", not "bathroom" Although my Valks do often accompany me to the bathroom (thought that was normal behaviour for a Macross fan Heck, I've had Valks sleep, on the pillow next to me before Graham

I paid HK$1,050 for the VF-19S and HK$899 for the VF-1A movie Canon fodder. Graham

Another thing to consider, Acadia probably had to pay Tenjin a fairly substantial fee for the design. As much as Tenjin loves Macross, he's still a commercial artist, not a charity. The negotiation and cost of licencing rights with Big West may also factor into the cost. There's many unknowns to consider before people start complaining about the cost. I personally like the design and I'm going to buy 2, one to display in fighter and one in bathroom, to support Arcadia and support the 30th anniversary of Macross. Graham

All the extra multi-color tampo printing does actually add to the production cost you know. Acadia doesn't have magic tampo printing faeries that magically print all that multi colour printing on free of charge. Also, yes I guess this will likely be a limited quantity collectors item. I suspect one of the reasons towards the end that Yamato reduced the amount of tampo printing on its Macros toys was to reduce costs. Graham
-
The extra cost us probably at least partially due to the large amount of Tampo printing required. Graham

Latest haul tonight, from walk-in store buy. That takes me to three VF-19S now. Such a beautiful VF. Graham
