  1. As a hard core Macross fan, I keep trying to think of reasons to justify buying this kit, but as I already own the Yamato 1/48 and V.2 1/60 Hikaru VF-1A/S, I really can't think of any reason to own the Bandai kit. I've read all the reviews and the only reasons I can think of is if (A) I was relatively poor and didn't already own and couldn't afford the Yamato or Arcadia releases, or (B) I had masochistic tendencies and loved froppy messes that don't lock together well Graham

    VF-1J 1/55 Scale

Ditto, get one of the Yamato v.2 1/60 scale VF-1 toys or pre-order the new Arcadia 1/60 VF-1 toys (basically the same thing). Graham
  3. You guys really need to start using your spellcheckers. I've taken the liberty of corrrecting your spelling for you "The fans are the saddest part of the entire panel. It's almost embarrassing watching them ask LAME questions to Yune, and I actually felt bad for them." "How many years have they been using the same LAME page?" Graham
  4. I reckon this will be about 30,000 Yen. That's what Im prepared to pay. Heck, who am I kidding, I'll pay whatever it costs Graham
  5. We don't know that all Arcadia boxes will have fancy box art. So far we have only seen the packaging for the 30th anniversery VF-1J. Other Arcadia releases may well revert to Yamato style box art. They may just be doing the fancy box art just because it is for the 30th anniversary. So far all Arcadia has announced is the VF-1J 30th Anniversary, VF-1S DYRL Focker , VF-1S DYRL Hikaru and all new YF-19. This tells us that they have the license for DYRL style VF-1 toys and Macross Plus YF-19. We have no idea whether they have the license or plan to obtain the toy licences for other Macross animes/mecha. We have no idea whether they still have the molds for the other Yamato VFs (although it's likely they do IMO). At this stage we have no idea whether we will ever see the VF-0, SV-51, VF-4, VF-11, VF-17, VF-19, VF-22/YF-21 and SDF-1 again. So damn straight I'm hanging on to my Yammies. Graham
  6. As much as I love Macross, I too despise this game and deleted it after playing just a short time. Graham
  7. Gunpod will be different, as the YF-19's Gunpod has additional cooling vents on the barrel cover, which the VF-19F/S Gunpod does not. Ejection seat might be the same, but the canopy will definitely be different, as the YF-19's canopy is two piece, opening to the front and rear. Graham
  8. I just remember those 1/100 kits breaking really easily back in the day. Last time I tried to build one was probably 1988. I found the old variable 1/72 kits far more durable. Graham
  9. Yeah, the default low-viz schemes are great. I always use them if available. I'd buy that if Bandai made it as well. Graham
  10. I built both the VF-25F and VF-25S 1/72 kits and quite enjoyed building them. Graham
  11. I got one to review. Can't remember if I got any additional free ones after review. I certainly bought a few extras though. And to be fair to the v.1 1/60 YF-19, it was Yamato's state of the art at the time and when new did lock together and hold a pose reasonably well. Time has not been favorable to it though and the joints have loosened considerably (or even disintegrated in some cases). Also, it has been surpassed in design by newer releases such as the VF-19 series. Anything which is too froppy, doesn't lock together well or which parts are constantly falling off of like those horrid Banpresto transforming VF-1 toys is just too frustrating and takes the fun out of the model or toy. Getting back on topic, l may risk picking up one of these to see is it really as bad as everyone is saying. Graham
  12. In 2014 (see thread title). Exactly when, nobody knows yet. Graham
  13. Not going to comment too much as I don't have one yet and haven't assembled one. But I will just say that in this day and age, there should be a reasonable expectation that (when new), any transforming mecha pla-model or toy should (a) lock together reasonably well in all modes and (b) be reasonably non-froppy (to the extent that it can hold a pose). If a model or toy fails those criteria, then I won't consider it for purchase. Graham
  14. It's never been confirmed what those things on the forearm are, but all the information on the YF-29 translated so far does not mention them being cannon. I'm thinking they are either thrusters or chaff and flare launchers. Graham
  15. Here in Hong Kong, it's pretty common for adult males to collect toy or model robots, so nobody even bats an eyelid at my collection. Graham
  16. Haha, back in the day, we had our share of lady time, oh yes, the stories I could tell Graham
  17. That's the one, cheers Regarding possible future toys, I'm only saying what I think is likely. Don't read too much into it. I have no contact with Acadia and the last time I had any meaningful contact with Yamato was when the VF-17S was first released, so a long time ago. Back to the YF-19, I'm guessing that at least some of the wing missiles can also be placed into the leg bay. That would be cool being able to swap out the leg bay weapon load. Graham
  18. That's the reason I never use HLJ anymore, because I'm impatient to get stuff, but even if you choose the fastest shipping method such as FedEx, HLJ are so slow at order processing and actually getting stuff out of the door. I often use the terms "snail's pace" or "glacial progress" when describing HLJ. Graham
  19. The post with the photo of the open leg weapon bay seems to have disappeared. Can somebody please repost it. Thanks in advance. Graham
  20. VF-0D is the most likely possibility after YF-19, followed by all new VF-0S. Graham
  21. I hope they didn't blow all the sfx budget on the shuttle destruction scene. Worried the remainder of the movie will just consist of Sandra Bullock talking to herself Graham
  22. Still drooling over the latest pics. Graham
  23. The finish and joints on my 30th anniversary YF-29 are fine thankfully. They only real problem I have with the 29 series is that the shoulder armor constantly falls off when transforming back to battroid mode. Graham
  24. Fantastic job, but needs exploding eyeballs! Paint those in and you'll be my god Graham
  25. Haha, exactly what things were appreciated on the 1/72 versions????? Don't think it's a case of Yamato forgetting things, rather, it's a completely different designer now, compared to the old design team(s). Graham
