Anyway, I've been saying mix of YF-30 and VF-19, not just YF-19. Graham- 2715 replies

From what I remember from my former contacts, back before Frontier aired, Yamato were actually offered a chance at the toy licence by Big West as long as they became a major sponsor of the show. Yamato couldn't afford it then, so Bandai ended up with the toy licence as they become the major sponsor of the show. Given the popularity of Frontier and Bandai's success with Frontier toys, it's probably pretty much certain that Bandai has the Delta toy licence locked down already. Graham- 2715 replies

Even back before Frontier aired, I was wondering would the Fold Booster technology of Macross Plus have become advanced enough that the Frontier Valks had built-in, miniature Fold Boosters capable of multiple Folds. Alas, that was not to be. Certainly, a built-in Fold Booster capable of multiple foldswith little or no recharge time between folds would be a strategic and tactical game changer. Did the Vajra have the capability to warp munitions directly into their bodies? I don't remember. I thought they organically grew replacement munitions inside their bodies, but this took time. Maybe I'm remembering wrongly. Nobody knows yet. But I imagine it is unlikely to be Arcadia.- 2715 replies

Yes, but if these are pre-painted and easy to put together, then as a non-model builder with all the model building skills of a headless chicken, I'd personally rather have these than a 1/48 Hasegawa Graham

I'm very curious as to why Kawamori-san obviously used the Saab Draken as his inspiration for the plane in the background, given that the Draken is an old design dating from the mid-1950s. When he has previously used real world influences in his VF designs, Kawamori has in the past used more contemporary planes as his inspiration. Unless.............I remember reading somewhere (maybe it was a post in these forums), that Tenjin may be designing some of the mecha for Delta. Perhaps that Draken-esq mecha is a Tenjin original? Just a theory. Graham- 2715 replies

The forward swept wings, the upwards turned canards, the dorsal spine, the canopy shape (especially the bottom edge of the canopy frame), the way the engines/lower legs sit partially above the main body of the plane.- 2715 replies

I wonder what incremental improvements in technology Kawamori has added to the VFs in Delta? Probably not too many major new improvements this time, as it's only 8 years since Frontier. In Frontier the main new technological advances as I see it for the VFs were: ICS, Ex-Gear, remote control of VFs via Ex-Gear, the electromagnetic linear actuators for faster transformation time, practical rapid fire beamgun pods (VF-27/YF-29/YF-30) and better integration of internally stowed weapons (YF-29's rotating dual beam cannon and the YF-30's weapon pod). Yeah, I pointed it out a page or two back already. Probably either an independant colony logo or a PMC logo. Graham- 2715 replies

Given that we previously heard that Delta is only set a few years after Frontier (I forget how many), it's not surprising that the airframe and basic transformation of the hero VF will likely be similar to Frontier-era / Macross 30 era VFs. Anyway, from what we can see of the design, it's pushing all the right buttons for me so far. I just hope it's a military VF, in a conflict / war based story. I really don't want see a Macross anime about racing VFs, basketball playing VFs or sky surfing VFs.....yuk! Graham- 2715 replies

Ha, this is gonna end up like that white-gold or blue-black dress meme from earlier this year. Anyway, I'm calling dark blue with yellow trim (ala YF-21) on the Draken-esq VF. Graham- 2715 replies

I'm wondering if the Draken VF is blue not red. Looking at the nosecone, it looks more like dark blue to me. Graham- 2715 replies

Heavy Saab Draken influence in that fighter at the back, along with a color scheme somewhat reminiscent of Nora's SV-51. The blue and white VF definitely looks like the love child of a YF-30 and VF-19. And yeah, I agree that is almost certainly a YF-30 type weapons pod between the legs. Is it just me or do the lower legs of the white and blue VF seem to have a bit of Meltrandi Q-Rau styling? Note no NUNS or SMS markings on either craft! Maybe the marking on the tail of the blue and white VF represents Another PMC group, or possibly an independent colony? Hope this is not an anime about VF racing........urghhhhh! As much as I enjoyed looking at the pretty pictures in the 'Macross The Ride', books I personally have zero interest in seeing an anime about VF racing. Graham- 2715 replies

Heh, October 29th is my birthday! They remembered........LOL The craft at the back looks like some sort of Ghost to me also. Liking what little we can make out of the VF in the foreground.- 2715 replies

MW Member Poll: Are you planning to purchase the new Arcadia VF-0S?
Graham replied to microtree33's topic in Toys
6 and 7 for me, as: I'm not in a good financial situation at the moment, so can't really afford expensive Valks. The upcoming VF-2SS actually excites me much more, as it's the first time we've had that VF as a variable toy, so saving my pennies for that instead. Plus I like the VF-2SS design more than the VF-0S. I was not impressed that much with the Arcadia YF-19 due to the loose ankles and wings and lack of tampo printing, panel lines and detailing. Who's your favorite Macross Character?

I hope nobody thinks that Kawamori actually designs these toys, he doesn't. All he does is give some input on what things should be changed at various stages of the design, to fit his vision of what the toy should be like. Back in the Yamato days here's what would typically happen: Yamato would contact Kawamori to make an appointment to see him. Typically they may need to wait a few weeks to a month to get an appointment as Kawamori is a busy guy. Once the appointment is set then they would take the toy to show him. Typically, this would be done three times throughout the design phase, first with the CAD drawings and/or resin sculpt, second time with the engineering sample of the toy, third time, with the a final or near final version of the test shot incorporating any changes suggested earlier. Typically, each time Kawamori would look at the toy and suggest that a part needed to be longer/taller/thicker etc, or an angle changed, the color different etc. It's not like Kawamori is on the CAD program himself making changes to the design. I'm restricting myself to the 6" black series figures as well. I really don't know what Hasbro is thinking with the 5 point articulation.......urghhhh. I hope someone makes a decent toy of the new X-wing though. And I want the white version with blue stripes far more than Poe Dameron's version. Graham

As long as they don't copy the Bandai model kit SAP design, as the back part was too thick and chunky and sat too high in Fighter and Gerwalk modes.

It's great. After I received my first one, I immediately bought a second, as I liked it so much.
