  1. My view is that with modern Frontier and Delta era VFs, unless the Valk is stationary and NOT taking any defensive action, micro-missiles are pretty much ineffectual apart from for use as a distraction.
  2. Although Macross 30 is a great game and technically canon (I also loved playing it), I'm just basing my opinion on micro missiles and medium size anti VF missiles on what I observe in the various animes, not in games. But just to be clear, I'm referring to short (WVR) and medium size (BVR) range anti VF missiles, not large reaction missiles or large MDE missiles which are designed more for use against large targets such as capitol ships, planets or Vajura Queens etc.
  3. Well, although I promised not to buy anymore of these things, I walked past a model shop yesterday and they happened to have Arad's VF-31S and Keith's Sv-262 so they sort of followed me home......Hahaha! I slapped them together quickly last night, took about 30 to 40 minutes for each one. Assembled them using a few drops of superglue where necessary as I worry about parts falling off and then applied the stickers. Didn't get perfect sticker placement especially on the Sv-262, but good enough for my low standards. At least no stickers tore this time when removing them from the sheet, unlike on the VF-171. Will panel line the underside of the VF-31S later, as it looks a bit plain.
  4. Actually, micro-missiles in Macross have been on my mind a lot recently. Honestly, I can't remember the last time we saw a VF vs VF combat missile kill in Macross, maybe it was all the way back in Macross 7 with micro-missiles from the Diamond Force VF-17's destroying Varauta Fz-109s. It seems to me that missiles in Macross are now used more as a distraction than anything else, usually to cause an opponent to break off his attack by making him have to dodge, outrun or shoot down your missiles. The only other time we really see missiles used is for long range barrages, where both sides launch missiles, which mostly just result in missiles killing other missiles, but not destroying the opposing sides VF's. The main purpose of these long range missile barrage seems to be more as a screen to allow you to get closer to the enemy. I think since Frontier the vast majority of kills we see are all gun kills, plus the occasional rare melee kill. I think from a technology standpoint VF thermonuclear turbine engines, thrust to weight ratio and VF maneuverability have advanced so much, that combined with the ICS (Inertia Store Convertor) of modern Valks, there is no way a small micro-missile presumably fueled by some sort of solid or liquid propellant can match the performance of a top of the line VF flown by a good pilot. I mean time and time again, we see modern VFs either dodging, outrunning or shooting down multiple micro-missiles. Not to mention that even with advanced overtechnology warheads, a micro-missile is only so big and thus has a pretty small payload and with modern top of the line Valks with pin-point barrier systems and energy conversion armour active in all three modes (for some VFs with Fold Wave systems), a single micro-missiles if it hits is unlikely to destroy a VF unless it gets a lucky hit on a more vulnerable area, such as the cockpit. I guess what I'm saying is it doesn't seem like micro-missile technology has kept pace with VF technology and these days micro-missiles are pretty much relegated to use as distraction devices. By swarming the enemy with micro-missiles, it forces him/her to take some sort of evasive action, either allowing you to either escape from the enemy or allowing you to try to get into a better position for a gun kill. Sure if a VF was on the ground in Battroid mode and didn't have time to transform to Fighter mode, you might be able to overwhelm it's defenses and take it down with micro-missiles, but was in the air (or space) in fighter mode, the humble micro-missile doesn't seem to have much chance of achieving a kill these days.

    Bandai DX VF-31

No, no, no, it's buy 5 of each: 1 for general play and transforming, 1 to display in Fighter mode, 1 to display in Gerwalk mode, 1 to display in Battroid mode and 1 to keep unopened in the box as a spare in case of damage or breakage to any of the others
  6. Yay, release date of 25th June for Hayate's VF-31J. Not long to wait now.
  7. I really don't see that happening at all. Bogue seems to be the one who hates Walkure the most. Not to mention, he's a pretty crap pilot, always getting his ass saved by either Keith or Master Herman, so he's not really deserving of Messer's VF-31F.
  8. VF-31S fighter mode ordered. Decided I'm just gonna collect this line in Fighter mode only, with maybe just one Battroid.
  9. This scene annoyed me but for a different reason. Freyja was the one that fell down, but she's the Windermerian with supposedly extreme physical abilities. She's already shown early on that she can jump higher than a normal human (was it a 6ft standing jump in episode one IIRC).Based on what we know and have seen of Windermerians in action, I would have thought Freyja would have done the best out of all the Walkure members at purely physical training, apart from possibly Mikumo as we are not sure exactly what she is.
  10. Yeah, I also thought at first that he had a photo of Arad on the cover of his journal....hahaha
  11. I have a feeling that Hayate will go all dark side for a few episodes to wreak vengeance on the Knights and may start using Messer's VF-31.
  12. Didn't know the 1EX had a longer nose and hump behind the cockpit. Hmm.......will have to go to review.
  13. Keep it to The VF-31 Gimix kits, please guys.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Kinda disappointing that Bandai couldn't get even the first of The Delta DX toys released until after the show's already finished
  15. Two theories on why Keith used the nose laser instead of his much more powerful beam gunpod to shoot Messer: 1) Yes, he was showboating and wanted to show he could take down his skilled arch-rival even using a lesser weapon. or 2) Possibly if Keith had triggered the beam gunpod, perhaps the sensors on Messer's VF-31F may have been able to detect it powering up, giving Messer a chance to evade. Therefore Keith decided to be sneaky and use a previously unknown weapon which would not be in the Siegfried's threat detection database.
  16. We need an Aerial Knight death next as revenge for Messer and also to balance out the odds, otherwise Delta Squadron will be over-matched.
  17. I'm guessing the next death in the series will be Master Herman. I mean he's 33, so he's already lived 3 years longer than the average life-span for Windermereans Likely he'll end up dying, sacrificing himself while saving Bogue (again).
  18. I'm betting on Mikumo being half Protodeviln, the love child of Sivil and Basara. The timing would be about right.
  19. I may have to give Ghost in the Shell Arise and Ajin a try.
  20. Macross Delta. What, you mean there is other anime??????????
