    Bandai DX VF-31

Yes the other side of the container that does not hold the beam-gunpod is a wireless charger for the multi-drones. It has only been shown being used once in the Mission 0.89 preview episode. For some reason they cut that scene from the Mission 1 episode, which I feel was a mistake, as people who didn't see 0.89 and who haven't read up on it will have no idea what it is or that the multi-drones do run out of power and can be quick charged by the VF-31.
  2. Oh, I will have to try to track down that issue.
  3. No, the VF-31's hands do not get tucked into a pocket in the lower legs like on the VF-30. I have looked into this quite extensively studying all the available toy and model pics and line-art. While the arm cannons are stored at the juncture between the legs and wings in Fighter mode, the hands and arm shield are actually stored in the underside of the wings. The wings are actually quite thick on the VF-31. The shield hinges out from the forearm to become a wing panel. Likewise, the hands also is stored on the underside of the wing.
  4. Yeah, I also think it's good that they are sticking to mostly short bursts. I posted about quite a few posts about the arm cannons earlier in this thread theorizing about the ammunition capacity and storage. I still think that as the VF-31's hands are not stowed inside the forearms in fighter mode (they are located on the underside of the wings), that at least some of the internal space inside the forearms is actually the ammunition magazine for the arm cannons. I wish Kawamori would get round to releasing some hard tech date on the VF31s, including calibre of the arm cannons and ammo capacity, number of micro missiles carried in the 6 internal launchers, engine thrust and weight of the fully loaded and empty VF-31.
  5. Now that is interesting, because according to my understanding based on screenshots from multiple episodes and photos of the toys and model kits, the muzzle of the beam gunpod should be blocked by the groin-piece in Fighter mode. Very interesting, but great to know it can fire in fighter mode, without having to unstow the whole charger pod. Ah.........on closer examination of that pic, can see the beam gunpod is in the opened (extended position), which it normally isn't in fighter mode.
  6. But I wasn't talking about just the original Macross TV show and DYRL, but rather referring to Kawamori in his role of guiding Macross as a unified whole throughout it's various iterations (excluding Macross II), to make a mostly coherent continuity. Macross has one (1) alternate timeline only (Macross II) spanning a grand total of one (1) OVA, which is nothing compared to Gundam, which not even counting the SD or the Build Fighters animes has nine (9) different continuities/universes: UC, FC, AC, AW, CC, CE, RC, AG & PD!!!!!
  7. Personally, I think their Battroid is the best looking compared to the DX and 1/72 kit.
  8. I wanna see Roid lose his cool and get angry...... "Roid Rage" LOL
  9. I'll buy one Keith and keep it in Fighter mode. Really not a fan of the head design. I'll buy one of the standard versions and display it in Battroid, as I far prefer the head design. That's it, I don't like the Sv-262 enough to buy more than two.
  10. I wouldn't want or trust anybody else but Kawamori to be in overall control of Macross animes and design the VFs. I really don't want Macross to become like Gundam with endless crap, mostly unrelated series churned out non-stop one after the other where they are just slapping a V-fin on a mecha and calling it Gundam, because the name will sell.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Gorgeous, I love the nose and canopy profile. I think the VF-31 is my new favorite looking VF. It so reminds me of the VF-19F/S, which is another of the IMO prettiest looking Valks.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I really love how from some angles the swept wing VF-31 resembles the VF-19F/S, which is one of my all time favorite VFs.
  13. I really hope not. I want to see several minutes of VFs in every episode. It doesn't necessarily have to be Valk on Valk combat, but at least I want to see VFs doing something, anything, even if it's just launching, flying around or being shown in maintenance, etc.
  14. Yeah, the transformation sequence for the Projection Pod is clearly shown when they are on Aether's deck, before they launch. Slow it down and watch, it's quite clever really. Can't wait to see it implemented for the DX.
  15. I definitely would have left Freyja and Hayate behind as the least experienced (and most annoying) members of the team. Probably a good idea to keep Kaname and Makina behind as well, that way if the infiltration team is captured or killed, the whole of Walkure has not been lost in a single mission.
  16. Also back to the subject of loadouts..........this is going to be a somewhat long and rambling post,,,,,,,Hahaha! Starting at 10:41 when we see Hayate's VF-31J being loaded with the Projection Pod, it's quite interesting to look at the Pod loading elevator behind his VF-31J. 3 pods can be seen stored on the pod loading elevator: The top-most pod looks like the folded radome from Chuck's VF-31E. Does this imply I wonder that the radome can be installed on any VF-31 and it is not specific to Chuck's VF-31E? The middle pod, which I'm presuming is the standard Charger Pod, clearly has a beam-gunpod installed on it's ventral (bottom) surface. The bottom pod which should be the Projection Pod about to be loaded into Hayate's VF-31J is also shown with a beam-gunpod installed on it's ventral (bottom) surface. (see my notes on the attached screencap). I wonder do all the VF-31's share a single weapon pod loading elevator, or whether each VF-31 has their own individual pod loading elevator? If I had to guess, I'd say it's more likely that each VF-31 has their own individual pod loading elevator. When we see Arad's VF-31S launching at 12:01 with the Projection Pod already in the deployed (open) position, we also can clearly see the beam-gunpod on the underside of his VF-31S (see attached screencaps). What this implies to me is that when the projection pod is in hangar storage, it has the beam-gunpod attached, however, once the Projection Pod is installed on a VF-31, the beam-gunpod is somehow offloaded from the Projection Pod and attached directly to the VF-31 or more like attached somehow to the Super Packs instead. Also interesting to me and what makes me think this launch scene is not a simple animation error is the fact that the muzzle of the beam-gunpod is clearly visible, compared to when the beam-gunpod is attached to the standard charger pod on a non-Super Pack equipped VF-31 in fighter mode, the muzzle of the gunpod is usually blocked by the fight mode groin piece, preventing it from being fired in fighter mode unless the Charger Pod is deployed. Hence the wing-root (arm) cannons have to be used in standard fighter mode as the beam-gunpod is blocked. Here with Super Packs attached, with the Gerwalk joint 1-click down, this slightly lowers beam-gunpod, clearing the muzzle from any obstruction. Of course none of this explains why when Arad is using his knives in Battroid mode, no trace of the beam-gun pod can be seen anywhere That I am chalking up to an animation error. Anyway, it will be interesting to see later if a Projection Pod is released for the transforming toys and models how the issue of the beam-gunpod mounting is handled.
  17. Gotta say the Bandai 1/72 Sv-262 looks pretty bad in Battroid mode, at least in the pics posted so far.
  18. This episode is getting my first ever negative vote so far in the series and it's not because of any lack of mecha porn. On the positive side, the episode did move the story forward and give us more information about the political situation and the cause of Var. And the cat ear military helmets were cool. On the negative side, the episode was a bit too silly for my taste. The whole VR hacking using Pacmen while singing...........urghhhh. Yes, real hacking may look visually boring, but what was shown in this episode was just way over the top. Sending your Elite team of pilots and famous (and thus potentially easily recognized) idol singers on a covert, intelligence gathering, infiltration mission behind enemy lines......double urghhh. I'm sorry, I can't believe that an organization with the obvious resources of Chaos doesn't have a few ex-military recconaissance/intelligence gathering specialists on the payroll, who would be better trained to handle such a mission. Yeah, I understand from a story perspective, they had to keep the focus on the main characters, but using such specialized and valuable assets as Delta and Walkure for a role they are mostly not trained and experienced in doing is pretty silly. At most they should have just sent Mikumo, Mirage and Messer, as Messer and Mirage at least have some military experience and Mikumo is the most capable, oh and Reina (for her hacking abilities).
  19. Seen by a friend in Hong Kong.
  20. Year, that's a great custom Roy. Makes the toy look so much better.
