  2. On the subject of Engrish, there's a small sandwich shop in the Wan Chai district of Hong Kong that has a sign up advertising a 'Tuna with Cum' sandwich. I think and hope that they actually mean Tuna with Cucumber, but their method of shortening the word 'Cucumber' is odd to say the least. Needless to say I will not be trying this particular sandwich just in case the description of the ingredients is accurate . One of these days I'll have to take a photo and submit it to Engrish.com. 3. That statement is generalizing too much. It's only the best selling genre in the US market. Well, it helps that the US market is the largest market... Not that I really care, but I'm just curious is the North American games market really bigger than the combined Asian, European, UK and South American, i.e. the rest of the world's games market? Anybody in the industry have some figures? Graham
  4. Actually, I'm wondering why no other MS so far has been fitted with a version of the Forbidden Gundam's energy deflection armor as that was very effective against beam weapons. Graham
  5. It would be cool to see some new Orguss toys, but I can't see it happening, unless the great champion of obscure licenses (Yamato) decides to pick up the license. Graham
  6. Anime endings raped my childhood . Graham
  7. Uh, because he's actually a very good pilot? Are you forgetting he fought multiple Gundams to a standstill as well as surviving relatively unscathed against a gunbarrel equipped mobile armour, in what was essentially his first mission? I don't think Shins that good a pilot....yet. While in eps 1-2 he was able to avoid being damaged by the 3 stolen Gundams, I don't think it's really that accurate to say he fought them to a standstill. He was also unable to damage the 3 Gundams at all. Of course he may have been deliberately trying not to damage them so that ZAFT could get them back intact. Athrun an Yzak did much better in their ZAKUs against the 3 stolen Gundams in episode #6. Of couse Athrun and Yzak are far more experienced pilots than Shin, but the ZAKU should also be an inferior machine compared to the Impulse or the 3 stolen Gundams. Graham
  8. Screw that, I want to see Cagali get into her Strike Rouge and put her foot up in his @ss. Forget using Strike Rogue (although I /would/ love to see it with the IWSP in the show.. Well, we do see Strike Rouge with ISWP in the opening (or is it the ending, I forget?), so I think there's a good chance we will see it in the show later on. Graham
  9. In this thread so far there's been a lot of mention of various characters (Mwu, Rau, Rey) being Newtypes, but is this actually established fact, i.e. is it actually written down anywhere in official source material from Sunrise/Bandai, or actually mentioned in the show? Or just because some of the characters get that little lightning flash thingy when they sense another character, or to warn them of danger are we just assuming that they are new types without having solid facts to base this assumption on? Graham
  10. Yeah, I've just finished watching SEED and I also seem to recall a few times where Kira did the multi-target thing in Freedom without being in SEED mode. It seems to be more a function/ability of Freedom rather than part of Kira's abilities IMO. Graham
  11. Heh, somebody should just use the image posted on the auction to print some high quality copies and flood ebay with them . Ok, I can understand the seller selling this. Heck if somebody is stupid enough to pay 25 grand for a peice of cardboard, then why not. More power to the seller. What I don't understand is the bidders. I mean I thought Yu Gi Oh was an anime & game just for little kiddies, i.e. under 10 years old. I don't see any little kiddies having 25 grand laying around, so does this mean that they either have very rich (and stupid IMO) parents or there are actually adults willing to blow that sort of cash on a kiddies card? The mind boggles ! OK, I'm a guy in his mid-30s who collects transforming plastic Japanese robot toys, so perhaps I shouldn't be so critical, but I still feel there is a big difference between spending maximum $200 on a quality robot toy, which is aimed at older collectors and spending 25 grand on a piece of card that is aimed solely at pre-teens. Graham
  12. The guy and the girl in those pics really need to be introduced to each other. Graham
  13. Actually, it was the Arii & Imai Macross model kits that first got me hooked on Macross back in 1982. I didn't actually see my first episode of the TV series until visiting HK in 1986. I finally got to see DYRL in 87 or 88 and that was what really got me hooked big time. Graham
  14. If you want some good sparring swords that can be used for full contact sparring without full padding (only head and hand protection needed), you can order them from here Just mention Graham sent you Graham
  15. The ending of Evangelion raped my childhood. Sorry, just seems to be a theme on Macrossworld at the moment. Just jumping on the bandwagon (AKA if you can't beat em join em) Graham
  16. Well, we all know what three words 'psychotherapist' breaks down into: - PSYCHO THE RAPIST Graham

  18. That statement is generalizing too much. It's only the best selling genre in the US market. Here in Asia (and probably Europe as well) American football console games are about as popular as poo under a pillow (except with expat Americans that is) . Graham
  19. We've all been assuming that the rebuilt Freedom when it shows up will still be fitted with an N-Jammer Canceller and nuclear reactor. I'm thinking here that perhaps whoever rebuilt Freedom might have instead refitted it with a similar system to the Impulse Gundam's energy transfer system in order to get around the treaty banning N-Jammer Cancellers. While we still don't have enough information on how efficient is the rate of energy being beamed from mother ship to MS using this new system, or even the effective range that energy transfer can be maintained, in theory given a high enough transference rate, the Freedom could possibly still use all it's weapons with impunity. Of course this asumes a high efficency system, which may not be the case. Also, I'm wondering did Kira's super coordinator ability actually have anything to do with was Freedom's ability to lock onto and accurately engage multiple targets or was it just a case of Freedom having excellent targetting sensors and software? If the latter, why don't all MS have this ability? Cost? Graham
  20. Usually 1 or 2 eps a night before I go to sleep. Not into marathons, I have too much stuff going on to spend a whole day on an anime series, no matter how good it is.. Graham
  21. "Doggie style" Uh huh...is this Sentai or Hentai? Graham
  22. I'll have to go back an rewatch ep #1 again, but wouldn't Shin's family still have been killed in the blast from Freedom even if his sister hadn't gone back for her phone? And how come Shin gets the newest Gundam when he's the worst of Minerva's MS pilots (except for perhaps Lunamaria)? As the Strike Rouge with ISWP appears in the opening, I'm hoping that Bandai will release a Rouge recolor version of the MMM Strike toy with ISWP or at least an MSiA with ISWP Graham
  23. Heh, I was already an adult when the original Doom game came out, so I can't complain about this movie raping my childhood . But I think even with a good director, the original premise of the game, i.e. a lone Marine on Mars running around a maze, fighting monsters from hell is a little too skimpy really to lend itself to much of a movie. With this bare outline, you could get some good action scenes sure, but do you really want to sit through 90 minutes+ of pure FPS action with no additional story or character development? If your answer is yes, then just plug in your console/power up your PC and play the damn game as you sure don't need to see a movie . So yes, certain parts of the game need to be changed and additional elements would need to be added to make a watchable movie, but I do agree that adding the virus plotline and changing the Marine to SWAT type guys is a little too cliched. Graham
  24. I've been sitting on the sidelines here so far, as I'm not a fan of Zeta, so this doesn't really affect me. However, I've been trying to figure out how I would feel if Bandai released an official R1 version of one of my favorite animes (let's say Macross 7 for example) and replaced the opening and ending songs with instrumental tracks. While initially I would be pretty pissed, I think in the end it wouldn't bother me too much after I'd calmed down. I mean let's be honest here, when watching an anime TV series on DVD how many of you actually watch and listen to the ending/openings for every single episode? I don't know about you all, but I probably only listen to & watch the opening/endings once or twice anyway and then just fast forward through them for the rest of the series anyway. Listening to the same songs 50+ times gets old pretty fast IMO. Yes, it was bad form on Bandai's part not to announce this change prior to release. I think Bandai should have realised that their main customer base for the Zeta DVDs (I'm guessing) is the more hard core older UC fans who have probably seen some (or all) of Zeta already one way or another and so would want the show in it's totally original form. But as others have mentioned, if you like Zeta, chances are you probably own the songs anyway (not that that is an excuse for what Bandai did). Graham
  25. Yeah, DH released 4 mags about a week or so apart during the mid-Nov to Mid-Dec period. A bloody rip off if you just want the magazine like I do for new toy/model info but are not interested in the crappy AoZ models. And the mag that came with each kit had only like a third the number of pages as normal . I sold the kits for like HK$10 each. No interest in them, I find the AoZ designs pretty uninspiring. Graham
